Happy for a year at his old home and surrounded by his shop and surviving friends, one day a surge of energy burst through his body. Confused at first because he thought it may be a machination of his, Artemus soon realized the red size was real and he must go
Also is that my Yuri. I totally forget about him or did someone else have a Yuri that I forgot aboutm
Couple things grab my attention:
- The Iottians attacked the Plateau. I thought there was a magically sealed treaty that prevented that. What happened?
- Plagues. Little too much like real life on that one.
- Finn's end came on a "fiery day" with undead involved - stupid Harrick.
- stupid Harrick.
His design caught the attention of the Iottians and their allies. Before he could complete the project, in 811, he was assassinated. By the slag that was left thorugh his complex, all knew that Iott's deadliest hunter had done the deed. Everything, despite its resistance to fire, had been turned to slag. Designs burned, Gneblin nothing but ash, his spirit exiled to the plane of fire.Tchau?
Isaac
The Icefian trained bard spent a great deal of time in Port Phiam, earning his keep and perfecting his craft. With visits to the Bardic College from time to time. He only narrowly missed being there when the dragons attacked. Later, in Phiam, he only narrowly missed being dragged into the sea. It seemed whenever he made a move in Icefia, danger lurked right near him. After years of this, he got fed up and looked for better luck.
Paying for a cruise, he sailed south, only to end up on a Corsair ship after the ship he had paid to sail on was attacked by pirates and then rescued. The Corsair ship carried him until he was able to reach another port, this time Magenthia. Once there, he was able to make a living until Sutyr left the Counsil. Strife erupted in the city, and again, Isaac fled his bad luck. To the Great Forest he went, where halflings always love a good song.
Again, his time was fruitful. But the plagues came, and no where was it worse than the forest, where the gnolls, seemingly immune to every one of the plagues, began to take over. South he would go next, to Hertoplowis. The dour citizens wanted different songs, so the Maestro changed his tune. Bad luck came knocking again in the form of an Iottian attack the leveled his arena. Knowing where to get out of the way was an art for Isaac now, and he fled on ship east to Undrile.
Few cities had the reputation of the lawless tropical port. Even the Iottians had decided to not lay claim to it. Singing bawdy ballads now, the bard proved his versatility. Again, he was thwarted as the city was evangelized by Quan Yin and the brothels were there first target. Isaac was out of there in no time. Now traveling by foot, he wandered for a year before ending up another tropical port city.
Employed at the Low Bar, he sang songs for everyone and had become quite popular. So it was disappointing one night when the storm was so strong that even his music could not overcome the thunder and rain.
32 done, about 25% of the way there...seesh
Let me know your favorites so far. Also enjoy the speculation posts and Easter Egg catches.
Emmerick BlackhammerYikes
The oft troubled cleric of Falan had lived a tormented life and although respite was had for moments, the time after the severing was difficult as well. Hoping to be shielded at the college from the hardest of events, torment came in many forms. New undead entities that arose haunted his dreams. Torment by Gmax invaded his thoughts as well. Several times, he would be asked to aid against the undead, but he found it very difficult to leave and not be driven mad by temptation.
When the plagues arrived, life was even more difficult. Convinced that any one would claim him and turn him undead, especially after word of the entity Meril came to light, he interacted less. His classes were highly sought after for the insight into the madness of undeath. Conspiracy theorists always sought his opinion: were the giants going to invade the kingdom from the north, was Yellowia going to assassinate the king and claim the throne, would the melting glacier flood the kingdom, would the death of fire bring a new ice age in which the chosen would rule, would Habastly and Lakius merge now that they faiths were similar, would the rarely seen Icefian eagle repopulate and take control of the skies, or would they go extinct and mean doom for all creatures of Icefia, would Thom defect to Iott and complete his family's plan for world domination, would all the planes be cut off from Habololy, would the wizards three turn to Iott's side, would the scaled elven genocide be completed, would Amatom conquer Layreadia and the new college in Ekarude, would magic ever be the same!!!
Nearly a Hermit, elderly and have mad by 816, the actions of the Counsil that year were the final straw. He was found dead in his room at the college.
Bandrig GranitebreakerDouble Yikes!!
Having been jailed for crimes in Pacyr, ones that he claims were ridiculous, his term ended, but bad luck would follow as it often does for one time criminals. His efforts to reach other lands and travel were thwarted by the onset of Iott's reign. Although he found employment working as he had been, but now for Iott and Hertoplowis, as Pacyr had closed its doors to nearly everyone thanks for the doom speaking president.
The amount of profit to be made getting items between the two nations was astounding. Hertoplowis had immediately rejected Iott and the two fought as they had many times before. Seeing opportunity, Bandrig was able to get prohibited items from place to place. Never weapons or items of war, but comfort things such as pipeweed that just made people feel good for a time.
This went on until he was betrayed by a buyer in Hertoplowis. Religious fanatics of Everentual dragged him to prison. On trumped up charges he was deemed a spy of Iott and hung.
The destruction of Merid
Overcome with grief and about to expire, and told mentally by Ri, Dovin began to drag the others as far away as possible, calling out for the pack to do the same. Saren, finishing the last of the undead fought his way towards Merid, but stopped short after a command from Ri, turning instead to save those around. As Olokas pinned the wretched being down with his sword, his skin being eaten away by rot, Ri latched on the the head of the creature, tentacles driving into its brain. Agonizing moments later, Ri torn the head from Merid and the explosion of filth covered the area.
It was an hour later when Dovin, Saren and the others were able to get close enough to see what was left. Nothing was recognizable in the slime and dust except for the sword and armor of Olokas. No undead remained in the area. Merid's presence was banished from Habololy.

Sad that he no longer got the heal the world.

overall, 63 storiesI suspect the storm of red death that looms in the background will be the end of many of the survivors. I actually find it interesting that many of the PC's have had children written into their storylines. I suppose we'll pass on all our headaches to our offspring in the new era.
- if your optimistic 42 have lived ( all the unknown live, + erased), that 66%
- if your pessimistic, 36 have died ( all the unknown die, + erased ), that's 57%
with Veronica's work, might end out as a net positive.
One Rouge - asshat of Iott
Profit (Malchia, Rogues)This is awesome.
As luck would have it, Profit knew just where Harrl's legacy was...

Profit (Malchia, Rogues)Sounds like the religion of Quan Yin is pimping for a bugbear warlord.
The bugbear leading, who had recently promised the religion of Quan Yin a temple in his lands for every one hundred pups he sired was looking for more.
Schurke (Malchia, Rogues)Schurke/Esme would get my vote as the most creative character concept ever.
...he would just be a lackey, just a lowly Kobald begging at the feat of some great mastermind.
Interesting can the god of lost knowledge erase everyone's memory of an entire nation.
The other way I took it was Enzo was forgotten by everyone
Razk (Terrorshard, Gnolls)Brings me back to my youth when I would watch Kung Fu Theater on channel 48.

Brings me back to my youth when I would watch Kung Fu Theater on channel 48.
I can hear the music playing and the Shaw Brothers logo scrolling across the screen before the mighty brawl; complete with Grant's poorly dubbed dialogue.

3 for 1 actually. Lewis was probably on Valdis’ back when he stood his groundOh yeah, how could I forget about Lewis? Although, I'm only hoping that Malchia succeeded. Truth is, that excerpt may have been eloquently describing all of us being erased by the GoLK.
Irony that Nathan was not living alone
I really hope we get to play out that 816 meeting. It would be a fitting capstone to all this craziness.
Maybe after a red sky, lightening, and Ila'Alnar. Probably a few more shoes that need to drop
Love the reference to Claude and is Tchau the fire from Iott.

Still 22 left, but some big names now off the board.
Most of the guesses on who will be last still out there.
I tried to name all 22, only got to 12
Ajax is too old by the end.
Even money on the wizards, specifically Russel.
Even money on Haas.
Even money on whomever is at " The Low Bar" and "The Red Sky" being the epic end.
But my money is on Claude and some ridiculous wish.

I will be editing most of the post to add level. This is the level at the end of the post story, whenever that may have been in the timeline.
This is serve both as entertainment and practical for those characters that may show up as PCs or NPCs. Don't feel obligated to level them out, but feel free to do so.
If I get the exact levels wrong for what you envisioned, don't worry, the total level is what is important and if you let me know I can adjust. Is it safe to say you'll only be posting updated levels of the characters that lived?

Have to be honest, I was rooting for Profit.
Zalthor (Malchia, Icefia)
The wild bugbear lived a life matching his mental state. Bouncing from place to place and joining with all manner of adventures for reasons both reasonable and not. His time in Icefia lead to his death and the deaths of those that fought beside him. This repeated itself time and again.
He would go back to Borkondof and find a good life as chief of a small village, and then it was leveled and he was killed during the days of Harrl's Rage when his legacy was stolen. In Yellowia, he had a new life as a refugee but was convinced to join in on the attack against the Yellowian governor from Iott leading to the Day the Magic was Broken, where he again died. Next, he was in the Great Forest as part of Razk's Raiders. The raiders were successful, but other than Razk, the casualty rate was high. On the Great Plateau, he was paid well to clear squatters off of settled land. He met with an equally angry human and his massive hammer. In Lowlas, where the tendrils of Iott did not reach, he rested for a bit. But the call to action was strong in his blood and he could not rest long. He traipsed through the swamps, hunting with lizardfolk who were keen to have a bugbear's skills. Again, he was killed by the great serpents of Izhudan. When the plagues came, he ignored them, shouting his immunity. He died from three of them.
Zalthor's constant trips between life and death confused him at first but he grew so used to it that in his mind he became convinced that he was not dying. His power was so great that he could not be killed. A gremlin swami told him that only a great and rare weapon could kill him forever, one meant to kill only those like him. Amused, greatly scarred, confident beyond reason, Zalthor traveled south to a new city that could experience his magnificence.
This place called Ermaneo, labeled by some as the birthplace of new deities, seemed a goof place for one such as himself. There, he set about convincing everyone of his divinity. For his efforts, he was given meals and lodging. He assumed these people to be his worshippers giving him offerings, in truth, they were taking pity on the insane. One night, a fierce lightning storm erupted. For Zalthor, this meant that his time of ascension was at hand...
Fighter 4 / Berserker 4
Zalthor (Malchia, Icefia)
Anyone want to play a Berko twin PC with me in the next era?Sure, but I call dibs on "Profit Berko" who was named after one of Parker's most admired friends. ;)
Sure, but I call dibs on "Profit Berko" who was named after one of Parker's most admired friends. ;)Sounds more like the family pet ferret who inconceivably gets into places he shouldn't, as an homage to the person who got the closest ever to stealing from him.
To whom it may concern:Fixed it
Information researched near Palumpton by historians was suspect,
- The Counsel of Barnstenagor was 790.. not 890 as stated in papers found in Palumbton.
- Previous information collected in Icefea had Sutyr's betrayal in 803, (802 here) This might be more correct, and a real find?

Marcus Stormlight (Valdis, wizards)Sounds like the work of Ash.
The first arrow defeated his displacement, and he was unphased. The second defeated his resistance, and he was unmoved. The third defeated his invulnerability, and he paused. The fourth defeated his replay, and he grew concerned. The fifth defeated his breath and he gasped. He could still hear. A bowstring pull and curse in southern Yellowian.
The students found the governor dead, stripped of most of his possessions, three arrows scatted around him, one in his back, one through his throat and one in the back of his head. The last had gone in until it hit a metal skull halfway up the shaft with the arrow through the eyes.
Sorcerer 9 / Studious Sorcerer 9

Cloud (Windblade, wizards)
******REDACTED*******
Cloud (Windblade, wizards)This was no where close to what I was expecting.
Although most thought it was an incredible thunderclap, in actuality it was the splashdown of a person hitting the water not far from a heavily crowded tavern called the Low Bar.
Cloud (Windblade, wizards)Era 4 - Fat Luigi... +6 overalls of intelligence.
Luigi seemed depressed and cooked a lot, and was also enamored with Melodi's status.
Luigi Wonderword (Zunder, Wizards)
Luigi waffled...then pancaked, then toasted, before making a decision.
That took a depressing turn.(https://media2.giphy.com/media/3o6MbkpmtIFm4oOlOw/giphy.gif)

Another good one, though I expected him to be on Team T’Chau.
Team T'chau, what's that....

Rubius spoke in favor of peace and cooperation, but his son had become a follower of Avoreen and those that demanded the expulsion of the cults called Rubius a collaborator and heretic. Not exactly the future I had in mind for Rubian, but interesting nonetheless. I'm curious to see what becomes of Ruby.

Not pressing, but curious when all characters will have their levels posted. Not just mine, I'm referring to everyone's characters. I find it interesting to see what classes everyone has played. It's good research for future character ideas for the 4th era so as not to duplicate too many character concepts.

This is the order
next - Ash, then Vor'Ruk ( he's the orc stuck with Ajax) Haas, Valizar, Tchua, Finally Harrick.
First- I’m sure Valizar will make a mess. Situationally and of some poor unfortunates.
My money is: Harrick, Vor’Ruk (trapped with Ajax), Ash (rescues them), Valizar, Haas, T’Chau (with Kallark).
Valizar pulled back the jaw farther until he began to turn the Devourer inside out as the spectators fled in horror. The darkness inside of the monster began to spill out and annihilate it. Valizar stepped back, not quite understanding what was happening, but enjoying the destruction of his foe. Moments later, there was nothing left.(https://media.giphy.com/media/3oFzmkkwfOGlzZ0gxi/giphy.gif)

Harrick Kindle (Zunder, Plateau)
The quasi deity Lightstalker was dealt a mighty blow when his high cleric Artello Vansdale, was killed and his high temple burnt to the ground. Thanks to Harrick's effort, the deity would never recover and fell from power several years later.

Malchia & Valdis
For Valdis, master of movement, it was a strange feeling, but he focused and came out of it faster than his foe. He only need to be faster by a moments. He slammed the sword into the Nipits head, knocking him back. He raised his sword to finish the task, but Lewis alerted him to he paused. Looking around, Valdis realized he had no idea where they were, floating in darkness. He may need to communicate with his foe before killing him.
Ash's List:Thanks Ash...Malchia owes you one. I'll talk to the big guy about getting you an epic item that'll still work in this messed up broken magic world.Half breed bastard orc that captured Malchia
Nathan arrived just too late. No one knew where Rin was. The ship was gone. Valdis body was recovered and a ceremony was held when the surviving crew could attend. They commissioned a new ship and set a new course. Should I not list as various, but rather as the campaign the character started in or had the most sessions in?
Looks like we are nearing the end of the tales. If anyone sees an loose ends I haven't tied off, please let me know.Story arcs look to be intact. Just need character level updates for all completed threads.
What's left that I know of that has to be posted (as opposed to the SNAP sequel) is:
- the Battle of Mount Ila'Alnar
- the red glow on the Great Plateau
- storm in Ermaneo

These may be 4E starting points rather than loose ends but: Rin’s predicament, Who’s Re’Alph?, The Guardian of the Tides, who won the Suian and Graplore?
Haas v Valizar was much less disastrous than I expected.Agreed. I was worried when I first saw this post, but that was the best possible outcome I could've hoped for.
Rin - 4th era
Haas v Valizar was much less disastrous than I expected.I was expecting Valizar to prevail and undo all of Haas’ reconstruction efforts. Glad this turned out as it did so Haas can maintain his sanity.
The storm in Ermaneo will be a limited series played in session. If you have a character listed in that story arc, make sure to get them ready. Please let me know if I didn't give the character and updated level.
Can you give the characters that are in that Story Arc.
Any one know what was in the case that was traded to collector which sealed the deal of selling our soul to the devil or more precisely the slaad.
It was the 16th day of the 8th month of 785.Should this read 815?

No clue, but it must be valuable. Here's an estimate of total value of the trade:
- 12 giant bane weapons = 8k ea (assuming +1 giant bane) = 96k
- 11 fire resisting shields = 19k ea (assuming +1 shield of fire resist) = 209k
- 10 winged boots = 16k ea = 160k
- 9 beads of force = 3k ea = 27k
- 8 bracers of spell resistance = 90k ea (assuming same as mantle of SR) = 720k
- 7 gloves of rock throwing = 1.4k ea (assuming same as bag of boulders) = 9.8k
- 6 cloaks of displacement = 24k ea = 144k
- 5 regenerating amulets = 90k ea (assuming same as ring of regen) = 450k
- 4 staffs of frost = 56.25k ea = 225k
- 3 helms of true seeing = 75k (assuming same as gem of true seeing) = 225k
- 2 rings of spell turning = 98.28k ea = 196.56k
Estimated market price of items = ~2.5MM gc

Solaris, Darkwind, Saren, Haas, Valizar, Bezeded S'z't, a tinker golem, Dedaryl, Knot, Kvan, Koth, Garanuf Frozensky, and Alara.
Wagers on who survives this?
I think all the remaining heroes will survive at first, but Sutyr's avatar won't go quietly. Once he knows defeat is imminent, that's when Ajax's prophecy will be fulfilled and the entire mountain will erupt and cover the land in liquid hot magma. Much like Pompeii, the surrounding region will be covered in ash, lava, and eventually solid stone where the heroes' bodies will be forever preserved in their final superhero poses. From that time forward, it will no longer be a palace of evil, but a sacred monument to the last stand of the coalition of triumphant heroes.
Wagers on who survives this?Solaris, Haas, Valizar (minus another appendage), and Alara. Everyone else makes heroic sacrifices to thin the elemental ranks and get Sutyr into a position to be boxed in by those final four and ultimately defeated...
Solaris, Haas, Valizar (minus another appendage), and Alara.
You are all missing one that has been noted in story previously to survive this.Saren
As far as Ajax could tell Solaris is an actual Solar.
Battle of Mount Ila'Alnar part 21
tive spells and vanished. Kagetora’s fury intensified, but haven’t survived weathered his initial assault the remaining Iottians were able to defend against his attacks.
“By all the Counsel! A mount, my kingdom for a mount!â€
“I won’t take that literally, but let me help.†Valen walked up next to him in the form of a strange beast that Arion had heard of in some long tales. He had not believed if they were true, and just because Valen had taken the form did not mean they were. With the head of a vulture and the body of a mighty lion. Disgruntled, but with no choice, he mounted the lion and the left into the Iottians.
Sutyr’s List:Darkwind(30+HD, fire immune Planetar)Garanuf Frozensky(giant slayer/guardian)Solaris(Solar!!)Alara Gemblade(KOWS captain, armed with the Gemblade!)
Haas, this isn’t going well.
At least all of those are not dead.
Lifting his admantium blessed foot, Valizar drove the head of the avatar into the edge of the portal, using it to cleave its skull in two. The explosion leveled the mountain.(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iPOi9e3K8vw/T_NtOLZXpmI/AAAAAAAAATw/frmxWs4kqCI/s1600/Curb+Stomp.JPG)

Couple questions/comments:
- What happened to Sutyr’s corpse?
Couple questions/comments:
- Did Dourvan make a reappearance in the aftermath? Last we heard of him was when the pillar of sand collapsed.
No sign of it, but it would be under a mountain.Might have seen it while we extracted Koth and Valizar.
Couple questions/comments:
- Were plans discussed to retrieve Solaris and Alara? That’s a problem I feel like the survivors should discuss and assign a lead.
And then it was done...Just noticed this. If we catch Harrick riding around on a dragon zombie...
Dash let them know that Soar said goodbye but that sadly their other ally Miril was dead. Worse yet, they could not find the body in the rubble.

of the 11 PCs loosely and directoy involved in the Battle of Ila'Alnar
Win Rate ( living ) - 7/12 - 58%
Loss Rate ( dead ) 4/12 - 33%
Of course Solaris is a wild card here.. could play with either team.
RIP Knot, Koth, Valizar, and Vor'Ruk.
Thoughts on whether the win rate for the Company of the Long Odds is higher or lower.

Will the remainder of the fallen/vanished/surviving characters have their levels posted? Zunder probably has a complete list, but here's my remaining characters.
Schurke
Profit
Kasai
Gneetagh (DM Whitesword)
I just posted levels with their stories.Wow, Profit really made something of himself. Too bad he ended up on the wrong end of Parker's Whirlson.

Vaguely human with pounds of sagging flesh draped all around him, Harrick stood in glory.

The mistress of the keep, bride of Harrick, delivered the finale blow, having burned her face trying to give him the eternal embrace, she tore his head from body and cursed his name.R.I.P. Marston

R.I.P. Marston
I notice that Harrick's entry doesn't say "dead" like the others.Hence why I only said R.I.P. to Marston. I'm pretty sure he's "eternal" now and we haven't seen the last of him. Remember that he consumed the powdered dust of a deity. That's going to bite us in the ass one day.

To be fair. Harris, Saren, and Artemus don't say dead either. And Harrick's should say.. Murdered!Justice isn't murder. Besides, Marston made you a promise to put a bullet in your brain and he's a man of his word.
