Ruby spends some time on the days we were in LaFar and DeFar adjusting her new breastplate using the forge and her super magical forging hammer.  She is very happy while doing that work, whistling and chattering about what great luck her father has passed along to her.

She makes sure to compliment Godric and Lachlan's new swords when she sees them practicing with them.  She also commends the towns are how wise they were to destroy the evil items the Brethren had, I was worried when we came back they would have fallen into the wrong hands.

RECAP
We spoke with the avatars about what to do next and we also found out that Rubius is alive, albeit imprisoned along with other deities of protection, so Ruby was elated to hear that. We gathered our newly acquired items and made our way across the barrier again.

Upon arrival, we made our way across craggy land and back to LaFar. We were assaulted by Ettin's along the way. We managed to defeat them and question a couple of the survivors, but they weren't much help. We made our way back to town to mouth agape looks when the townsfolk saw we survived the barrier. We explained we were looking for direction on where to go next, so they showed us a schism in the stars that we could only assume was the rift in space.

We then traveled to NeFar to tend to the defeated Brethren's items, but the good townsfolk took matters into their own hands and tossed all his items into the barrier to remove any taint of evil magic emanating from them. With that task behind us and no more reason to be there, we travelled back to LeFar via wind tunnel and met with the clerics again. They reminded us of the details they spoke of in the past when other visitors came through town some years ago chasing the "dark man" through the lands. They headed north to the closest outlying town to LeFar. I forget if that's Lumaal or Calanfair. With that knowledge, we packed up mundane travelling gear, bathed, ate, slept and planned to set forth the next morning. Being roughly 1000 miles away, it'll take some time, but Uther has the ability to summon fiery horses to our aid and carry us quickly across land. This will substantially reduce our travel time.

On a side note, we were apparently "off our game" according to DM as we missed several key points, hints, and clues throughout the last couple sessions. One of those things was questioning the avatars. Uther eventually remembered that we forgot to ask why Marina is being chased among several other pressing issues. That being said, we're pressing on nonetheless. We'll inevitably get answers in our travels for better or worse.

We previously learned that Udarin was sent years before us to investigate the rifts. Do we know who this “dark man” was?

You didn’t inquire about him or about those chasing him.

For four days you ride north by northeast. The stars are bright and clear so it is easy to keep your bearing. The lands are all rolling grasslands, meadows, as far as you can see in three directions. Far to the west you can make out mountains.

On the evening of the fourth day you see a settlement. There is smoke from a few chimneys. At one time you suspect it was a fair sized town, but now only a few buildings show signs of being occupied. It is surrounded by farmland, but much of it is fallow. There are four watchtowers and moments after you see the town you hear the southern and eastern tower ring their warning bells.

False. The reason we even know about the story is because we asked about it. When we first entered LaFar, the town elders told us about it but they didn't have any details other than that they were from Habololy and that it happened roughly 20 years ago. They didn't have names, motives, or anything else other than the general direction they went chasing the dark man.

We never asked anyone in NeFar because we were too busy saving lives.

As far as the avatars go, well, we simply dropped the ball on that one.

Ruby practices with her bow during the trip.  It is clear from her fumbling against the Ettins that she is not accustomed to using it and you may be surprised that she doesn't manage the bow well even with practice.

Sorry- hastily posted. I should have been more specific. You didn’t follow up with the Avatars.

We have no proof that Udarin or those before us where even on the correct path, but I guess it makes sense to follow up.  Since it is literally the only lead we have at the moment.  I mean, it's possible we all forgot all the other good information when we went through the barrier.

Once we get to a large population center, I think we will get some better information.  We may also want to be on the look out for things that may protect us from the barrier should we have to go back.

Oh.. if we have to go back through, we've failed in more than one way. I will not be going back through!  That is the definition of insanity
