Wirlpakura tells you that his mistress was Kara, maiden of the republic.  They were accompanied by Karl, her brother, a knight of the republic; Anders a huntsman; Tarin a cleric of Han~Sui; and a Gremlin named Vrik.

When was this entourage put together? What time period were you all adventuring together?

Rano asks Wirlpakura what it's capabilities are. If it lapses into Island, I'm able to translate what the words/phrases mean.

What powers do you possess?

How strong are you as a sword and what requirements must one have to wield you?

Can you penetrate the wild magic veil that covers this land?

Can you grant those who wield you additional powers or magic capabilities?

Does one require an Iottian ring to cast through you?

Do you require any general upkeep to maintain functionality such as magic components, blood sacrifice, or one's life force?

Would you be willing to travel with us and allow us to utilize your abilities? (I tell it what we're here to do and that it's an honorable rescue mission of an innocent victim)

Does it know if these contagious creatures beyond the walls have any weaknesses?

Are there any additional entrances, hidden or otherwise, to this complex that we could use to rescue Taye?

What happens when you're infected by one of these creatures? How long does one have before turning into one of them?

I don't know exactly how long I've been here, nothing happens to let me know how time has passed.  But we left the republic in the summer of 816.

I'm not from Iott, so I don't' know a lot about the nation.  I can help you fly and defend you from attacks.  I can detect some dangers nearby.  Creatures of the dark earth and some lower planes are my main foes.  What skills do you have?"

Does it know if these contagious creatures beyond the walls have any weaknesses?

"None in particular.  They are changed a but from when we fought them centuries ago, and even then they were formidable.  They don't regenerate, which my friends have always said is one of the greatest challenges to deal with when fighting beasts.  They can't be hidden from, they are extremely quick.  They can't be deceived by magic and their minds are impervious to telepathy.  They can climb like spiders, but they can't fly."

I assume there is no rush to move on.  Wake ask Windstreaker if knows it ways through the prison.  Figment flies around and ask it questions interrupting people when he gets excited and being his general enthusiastic self.  Here are figment's questions if we get to all of them:

Do you ever get dizzy from being swung around all the time?
If you could pick your own wielder, would you choose someone stylish or someone strong?
Do you dream when you're in your scabbard? If so, what about?
If I tied a tiny cape around you, would you feel more heroic?
Can you taste things and I try to press food against windstreaker?
Do you like your current name, or would you prefer something fancier? Like Sir Stabbington the Soaring?
Do you get ticklish if someone polishes you too much?
What’s the silliest battle cry you’ve ever heard?
Have you ever been used for anything other than fighting? Like slicing cake?
Do you ever feel bad about cutting things, or is it just in your nature?
Are there other talking weapons out there? Do you all have a secret club?
What’s the weirdest thing someone’s ever said to you while swinging you in battle?

We aren't sure what he is, it's a mystery to us as well.  We call him figment because we thought he was only a figment of our imagination.  But, as you said, he is a good ally, and helped us in many situations.  Caused a few as well, but not everyone can be perfect. Wirlpakura, we have a friend trapped below in this prison.  Would you be willing to help us go down there and try to free him?  I would never take you in there without asking.  I also might not be the best person to wield you, as I am a Paladin Monk of Quan Yin. I was very poor so I learned to use my fists to protect myself which grew into protecting others.  I don't know if my skill can do a amazing weapon as yourself justice.  You should pick who you want to be wielded by, or perhaps I should take you back to the Maidens from were you came.   I am sorry to hear about the passing of your former master, I will pray for her sole, and might Quan Yin's mercy comfort her Family and Children.

~I will go with you and do what I can to save your friend.  We did not find anyone when we were inside, but I don't know about the timing of things.  That you for your condolences, it is a curse to have to see my friends pass on, worse yet to have to be the one that sends them.  I don't ever get fully used to it happening.  For now, I would be happy to stay with you.  I have not always traveled with Maidens, existence has a funny way of getting me around from place to place and I count my blessings I have not ended up with the possession of Karacota under under Drunnbar's hammer.~

Our friend arrived more recently, by way of a magical accident.

Did you see all of your mistress’ other companions fall?

Does the infection cause possession of the body or does it slay and destroy the host?

How many of the creatures did you encounter? How many did you slay before you fell back?

Laz goes back outside and retrieves his pike. He drives one of his harpoons into the ground in its place.

When he returns he asks: Is the interior of the complex intact? Are there places where there are breakthroughs in the walls, floors etc.?

Do they attack in packs ? How many in a pack? Do they have any special attacks, like a breath weapon?

"If they are enough of them, yes, they will attack in a pack.  But I have experienced them attacking individually.  They attack with claw and tooth and tail, or whatever they have.  They have taken different forms depending on who or what they infect.  I have never known them to breath fire or anything of that sort."

Notes from the skeleton to clarify and detail what you saw.

There were no tracks leading in or out and clearly no animal has been in here recently.  However, from the decay of the body, insects must have made it in here and consumed the body.  The skeleton does still have hair and some other parts that insect won't or don't consume.

"By my count, five.  Only one I am sure was destroyed, by Karl.  But he was horribly wounded in doing so.  The creature exploded acid when it died.  Anders did better keeping them at bay with his bow.  Kara was defending Karl when she was dragged away.  Tarin picked me up to try we eventually found her.   It was too late, she had been infected."

"Well, the last party lost 4 inside, so if you start with 5, one destroyed, then means there are at least 9 now.  If each fallen hero produces one spawn.  Wirlpakura also suggests an unknown number of larval creatures.  Fun "

He summons his pistols from the little fanny pack of holding and starts checking their operation and cleaning them

Laz asks: Do you have a sense of how much of the complex you explored? If not, how long did it take you to advance to the point when you encountered these creatures? How long total were you inside?

"We took it slow, having some idea how dangerous these creatures are.  We didn't expect many.  We had searched the area and determined there was no other way into the complex.  We were sure there would only be one, since we didn't see any other way for someone to have been infected.  We assumed that since this used to be a Iottian lab, that's how the one came to be.  With that in mind, Anders had brought a slaying arrow that would have killed the one.  All that fell apart when we were attacked by several."  it gets back to the point of the question after a pause.

"Not long, the entire first level when we were attacked, which was maybe two hours.  After we regrouped and went back in, maybe ten more hours."

Depending on what part of 816 they adventured, magic may not have been broken yet, although they would likely still need Iottian rings regardless. If the fallen are wearing them, we may need to retrieve them to be more impactful in our rescue mission.

The long hall that you are in is a crafted stone tunnel semi circular in shape.  The entrance is an illusion from the outside but clear from the inside.

The sides of the tunnel appear as smooth stone, but upon close inspection is coated with a fine coating of sand grain sized gems.

The two ends have what you assume are similar 'doors'.  The one you can see that leads farther in is stone, not coated in the gems.  The other is open, so you can only see the edge of it in the ground and the grooves between it and the in place floor.

Rano asks Wirlpakura: "Does sorcery have any advantages over wizardry in these lands that have been overtaken with wild magic? I'm curious because you mentioned that the last group travelled with a Gremlin because that creature had some control over the magic."

"Yes, I think so."

Whenever Taye contacts us next, I think to him "Do you ever hear movement outside your cell? We've been told there's other creatures lurking about."

Not much, I am not an arcane spellcaster.

I hear movement—everywhere—they are coming for me!!! Wait—I hear—nothing. I am... all alone. I will never be rescued. Never. What is your favorite food to eat?"

If you message a little later:  Do shadows have names? I should give them names. Yes... yes, that will help. If I close my eyes, do I still exist? I should ask the Unseen Servant

Is anyone else getting worried about releasing into the world a mentally unstable psion that can explode people’s brains?

That's funny. Rano is also precisely 300 XP shy of 6th.

Its not a colorful one, but other than that its hard to tell.  They have been ground down to a fine grain.
Esra points out the gem dust on the walls to Jesse.

Breach grows more antsy the longer we sit here. He paces a lot. He checks his greatsword and readjusts his equipment and clothing every 10 min. He fiddles with the door and studies the mechanism.

I would estimate that you have been in the tunnel for about 30 minutes so far.

Don't know if I missed it, but has anyone explained everything to Vechi after he came into the tunnel following Laz's explanation to him?

Esra will catch him up if no one else has.

Yes. I believe that is the current plan. Unless we can find another way in.

Laz glowers at them. “Do I speak with a lisp? I told you the plan.  Now, who is going to ask their Power about if we can cure someone who gets infested? In case I wasn’t clear, if we don’t get an answer to that question, either we don’t go in or anyone that gets infested doesn’t come out.”

I can pray for Panacea and Neutralize Poison. Not sure if they'll work, but can't hurt to have them prepared.

Vechi says, "I understood what you said, I just wanted to make sure everyone was okay with that plan.  Also, is anyone else remaining out here with me?"

He continues, "I can ask Tommimao about this infestation cure, but it will take me more than an hour, and I think with magic the way it is here, I am more likely than not to get a good answer."

Gareth asks Wirlpakura- assuming you can sense light, or if your companions discussed it, is there any natural light inside ? Windows, skylights, mirrors etc.? Any way to distinguish day from night or keep time?

Laz says- “Great, get to praying.”

Cyrus says: “I do not wish to forsake Taye, but these creatures sound like the worst sort of beast for me to fight. I have only ordinary weapons and no magical defenses. I will go with you, but if we think some of us will be needed to carry the wounded afterwards, I can also wait with Vechi. I will give Gareth my bracers.”

"Sadly, I cannot sense light.  I can sense heat, so sunlight or torchlight.  None of that was inside.  My friends and companions cast light spells to see.  I could feel the airflow, which was strong at times and weak at other times."  after a pause  "I recall them saying that one of the rooms had a magical clock."

Wirlpakura responds, "We came with magical items, including the slaying arrow I mentioned before.  If we can find them inside, they would be helpful.  And I am willing to be wielded by mostly anyone to end the scourge of these beasts.  I am nearly indestructible, so I can harm the creatures without risk of being damaged.  Whoever I am with cannot be harmed by lighting and I can fly them around.  I can also defend them either in hand or dancing.  I also am able to perform a few blessings."

You fund after an hour, that there are no significant vents on the rocks around the entrance.  There are cracks and holes that may lead down.  The rocks have expected vegetation and insect life.
