Someone has a work ax that you start to use.  It is noisy and it will take a while.  How long do you spend?

I can't speak for the others, but I'll hack away all day if I have to.

While he hacks away, I'll scout around doing move silently, and hide checks trying to ambush someone who might hear.

Tarkin spends time going through the other brothers equipment to see if they have an axe.  I myself only have a spears, bows, skinning equipment, and daggers.  It's going to take awhile....
Drax carries a camp axe. Though it may be more efficient to burn it with magic and manage the risk of forest fire with Tarkin's fire quenching ring.

Unless someone says otherwise, I will assume Ozzle is chopping and Tarkin is watching the area unless someone casts a spell or lights a fire.

I'd prefer not to use my fire-based blood magic unless I really need it.  If Drax wants to light it up, I'll step aside and let him do so.  Otherwise, I'll continue to hack at it.

The process is not unlike mining, its a lot of work for a variety of tiny gold pieces.  That said, it is gold.

It occurs to Drax, that gold from the body of a Golden Troll is likely more valuable sold as such for magic components than just as straight gold.

Do you cast anything to get the gold out?

Combust. Assuming Tarkin can put it out with his ring (?) of fire quenching.

Before you cast Combust, could we try to burn a small piece of the wood I hacked off just to make sure it burns?  We haven't tried burning it since we petrified it.  I also want to make sure this thing isn't regenerating.

Your test reveals that the wood will burn.  You see no sign that it is regenerating.

Did the fire harm the gold in any way?  Did it liquefy or remain solid after the surrounding wood burned away?

I don't think the fire is hot enough to melt the gold.

Gold melts pretty easily, but yes.. it wouldn't be hot enough to melt gold, let alone magic gold

Tarkin shakes he head miserably as a might white cloud of smokes drifts though the forrest, warning some, and attracting others.  He takes 20 to hide and waits for those in the path of the smoke
