RECAP
The group, being shunted out of the barrier portal, was forced to make a quick decision; go through to the other side or go back with Angus and Burke. Godric stayed back to assist and the rest moved forward. By that time, the two had dispatched most of the bad guys except a few who fled. Godric spoke with the two about re-entering the barrier since it would likely still work, so he collected some healing potions and travelled forward all the while wishing them farewell.

On the other side, the group walked towards a nearby farming town and met up with their Halfling leader. He told us we were still on Daakon and told us of some of the history of the town and its people. They're all Halflings and Gnomes. They were welcoming and were happy to feed and shelter us for a few days while we patched ourselves up and gathered supplies for the journey north.

The Halflings showed us a map (some strange information delivery device placed on paper that displays locations) of the surrounding towns, trade hubs, coasts, and mountains. The map also showed the theoretical way to the Gate to the Upper Planes in the North Pole. We decided to head north and take our chances despite being roughly 6000 miles away.

Before we had a chance to leave, the town watchman notified us of an emergency flare that was shot up from a neighboring town. The bad news was that it was about 10 miles away. The good news is that they revealed they have magic wind tunnels between some of the towns (not to the North Pole) that allow for rapid travel among some of those privy to that info. We offered to help and flew there in about a half hour.

Upon arrival in the town, we saw the city under siege by Barbarians and a lizard riding Half-Giant. The Barbarians were setting the town on fire with torches and the leader was directing traffic while mounted. Godric and Lachlan charged the leader through the smoke and ash while the others engaged in melee with the Barbarians. Once in the fight, Ruby quickly realized that the Barbarians were linked liked the regenerating opponents we faced in the past. When one is killed, another absorbs its strength and becomes even more powerful.

Ruby devised a tactic to whittle down the HP of each one and then strike a final blow at the same time with a coordinated attack. Meanwhile, Godric and Lachlan took on the leader. He first charged us on his mount dealing substantial damage to us both, but seeing as we're not quitters and he was radiating evil, the two warriors took the fight right back to him. Lachlan decimated the mount and removed its unsightly head from its body while Godric took on the leader. The fight was fierce, but quick. Lachlan decapitated the mount while Godric felled the leader. Moments later, the leader started to regenerate, so Godric decided to remove his head as well, leaving both leader and mount as matching headless twins.

The fight in the town center raged on, but the rest of the group subdued the carnage and finished off the Barbarian raiders. We gathered back together afterwards and regrouped. That's where we left off.

Some follow up to last night night.

The land is Denicrea. The capital city is Melest. It is roughly 3000 miles from your current location.

Far to the west (well over 5000 miles), the last fortress city is Demicus. Between the capital and the western mountains is the the city of Keirik. The Dwarven fortress mountain is Crit-Koruk.

The strait that separates Denicrea from the main (Eastern) continent is simply called The Reaving. That is also the name of the event that created it. On this side of the Reaving the enemy has one fortress- Dairik- The Fortress of Black Iron.

The city closest to the farmsteads is Lumaal. Further east is Calanfair. Both are over 1000 miles away.

Are the enemies still in those lands across the Reaving?  Are those lands like the rest of the world or Denicrea?

Regardless of who you ask these questions to, they have no idea.

It takes several minutes for the locals to calm down. Only male residents have been killed.  They are very thankful to all of you. One of the oldest male Gnomes says: We’ve not seen barbarians like this in my lifetime and the stories of raiders from the other side of the barrier are now hundreds of years old.

Not competent warriors. There is a cleric healing as many as she can.

Ellis says: the empire made the wind tunnels thousands of years ago.

Dylan assists in the healing if needed.

I ask the Gnome if he, or anyone else in town, happened to see where the raiders came from? Did they march in on foot, travel through the barrier, teleport in, materialize out of thin air, etc.?

Ruby thoroughly examines the bodies.  Looking for symbols and indications of climate they came from.

The arrived from the south (the direction of the barrier). On foot, except for the lizard rider. The village cleric refers to the lizard rider as “an aspirant”.

The barbarians (Brethren) look like the others you’ve seen.

The mounted warrior has the black circle of Nilas’anor on his armor,
cloak and belt.
