Sure

It does not take you too long, it is one of the few small wooden homes furnished and not occupied.

Nope
I have you stereotyped as a ranger.

I somehow missed this even though I responded to it:

Any symbols on the door or building?

Okay, if I’m confident we have the right place I ask Rano to wait outside and keep an eye/ear out for trouble inside or out. Then I turn invisible and get to work on the door checking for traps (Search +17 with magic) and then picking the lock (Open Lock +14).

If I fail to unlock the door I’ll shadow jump inside.

You have little problem opening the door.  There are no traps.  The small house, consisting of three rooms, is clearly only inhabited by one person.  There is some bowyer/Fletcher equipment and a few short books in Horarian.

Thorough search of the interior. Looking for any hidden caches or items bearing Hou Yi’s character. Suspecting there’s a personal shrine somewhere. Search performed mundanely and with detect magic.

Esra exits invisibly and closes the door gently behind him. He finds Rano, gets uncomfortably close (still invisible) and whispers as well as a gatori can “Let’s go. Not much here.”

Once his invisibility wears off a few blocks away, he hands Rano a set of crafting tools for a bowyer/fletcher. “I found these. Can you use them? There was also a couple of books written in Horarian. And a candle in this bag that radiates faint conjuration magic. It was at a small shrine. The shrine’s altar was also magical, moderate divination, but was too awkward and heavy to move. We should tell the others so they can deal with it.”

Yes, I can use the bowyer equipment. We can tell the others about the shrine when we see them.
