Luigi has a familiar, it's a slightly enhanced small animal that you won't see in the battle
Vor'Ruk is a Cavalier with a sturdy war horse that is nothing special - still waiting on my Rhino

Kovar has a light warhorse
Hipolet has a wolf
Tchau has a familiar.  He is a small outsider? I think.
Claude would have a Alchemunculus(similar to a homonculus but for an alchemist) but the DM shot it down long ago.

You may choose to not have your animal present at the duel.

If your animal is a mount, you may choose to start mounted or not.

If an animal is killed in a duel, I assume it remains so for the remainder of that set but will be available in the next?

Interesting question.  Should animals reset after a duel, or after the match?

I would think they would reset after every duel.  They are part of the character.  If you don't take them into consideration during setting, etc, shame on you.

I think animals should be available in every fight.  So reset after each duel.  As Zunder said they are part of the character.

We've already decided on something similar with the issue with spells that use XP.  I think that we should do the same thing with familiars

Animals count for more then familiars.  Vor'Ruk's and Ty's horse are more then familiars.  If our goal is to find the strongest character then they should get everything they can.

:) I hope a tear is shed three times.. as I'll let you win the middle duel just to get another chance to turn nefario into charred bat bisque!

I'm going to "wish" Luigi into Mario; the character that people actually care about... ;)

Here is the rule:

Familiars, Animal Companions, and other creatures which are attached to your class or prestige class; reset after every duel.

Other animals or creatures are treated like equipment, and are reset after the match.  Note that I will only allow creatures that the character has used regularly in game into the duels.
