Two weeks to post ideas for the incursion on to Speck.
-
During the 2 weeks, word of Q's drinking adventure makes the round of the ship. Gwen becomes inspired and decides to immortalize the event in song...
Drinking Pace
[Verse 1]
Crewmates, crewmates, tell the deckhands
That Q’s reign has just begun
I got my first stipend on Badger Five
Then I challenged the biggest one
[Verse 2]
Barkeep, barkeep, please just witness
I ain’t layin’ down my mug
I near kissed death off my Doom Chariot
Forgive me—now watch me chug
[Pre-Chorus]
Everybody wants somebody to toast
(Badger, Badger) Everybody wants somebody to roast
(Trust me) Everybody’s shoutin’ ’cause they can’t get enough
And it’s hard to stay upright when there’s no rail to lean on
[Chorus]
(Drink!) You know I’m gonna drink through the storm
Q says, you gotta keep the pace
(Drink!) Don’t let my “boss talk” start a brawl
Now we gotta keep the pace
[Post-Chorus]
Keep the drink
Keep the drink
Q says, we gotta keep the pace
[Verse 3]
Tell me, big guy, when I outdrink you
Do you keep it all inside?
Do you nod while I talk about me, me
Just hide behind your pride? Yeah
[Pre-Chorus]
Everybody wants somebody to toast
(Captain, captain) Everybody wants somebody to roast
(Don’t ditch me) Everybody’s sweatin’ ’cause the tab is rough
Well, it’s hard to act the boss when there’s no crowd to lean on
[Chorus]
(Drink!) You know I’m gonna drink through the storm
Crew, we gotta keep the pace
(Drink!) I’m level one, but I still run this hall
Right now we gotta keep the pace
(Drink!) “Avian are better”—yeah, that’s my thing
Crew, we gotta keep the pace
[Post-Chorus]
Keep the pace
Keep the pace
Oh, we gotta keep the pacek
Keep the pace
Keep the pace
Crew, we gotta keep the pace
[Bridge]
Hey, yeah, hey, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
[Guitar Solo]
[Bridge]
I’ve been rollin’ on the Doom Chariot
Through Badger Five’s tight bays
I don’t like the way they look at me
Like my crown’s a joke they made
Sometimes I wait forever
For them to say I’m right
So no one sees me wobblin’
Tryna walk a straight-line tonight
[Pre-Chorus]
(Captain, crew) Everybody wants somebody to toast
(There’s tabs I’ve run I can’t erase)
Everybody wants somebody to roast (And every night I swear I’m great)
Everybody’s shoutin’ ’cause they can’t get enough (It’s hard with these blue guys in your face)
Everybody drinks, everybody, keep the drink (First they were cool, Now they’re not cool)
[Chorus]
(Drink!) You know I’m gonna drink through the storm
Q, you gotta keep the pace
(Drink!) Don’t you let your pride start a brawl
Right now, we gotta keep the pace
(Drink!) Keep the pace, keep the pace
Tryna stand up, tryna stand up, yeah
drink (Ow!)
Keep the pace, keep the pace
Everybody, keep the pace
(Drink!) Keep the pace, keep the pace (Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Everybody wants somebody to toast (drink)
(Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah) Everybody wants somebody to roast
Everybody wants somebody to toast (drink)
(Oh, na-na, oh, na-na)
Everybody drinks, everybody, keep the pace (Oh!)
(Drink!)
(Drink!)
(Drink!)

Well done. That's high praise for someone who nearly died falling off his seqway. I sure hope he lives long enough to fulfill his diabolic destiny. The hype for Q rivals that of the premiere of The Phantom Menace back in 99. :)
-
250xp for the song, very nice

Q is humbled and deeply honored by your tribute.
Kidding.
“Human singing is similar to that of other animals, like a braying donkey. It’s no where near as sophisticated or complex as that of a dohwar serenade. Your lyrics were sufficiently descriptive of my majesty once you get past the noise you were making. Maybe next time work in how vibrant and lustrous my head plumage is.”

Q is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters of yours.
-
The crew member you was assigned to be the purser is a halfling sized dark red haired, big nosed fellow. He mumbles a lot under his breath and is meticulous about counting coins.
-
Another one of the crew is a golden scaled lizardfolk type from Toril.

I’m enjoying him more every session. It’s pretty liberating to turn off my internal filter and say whatever pops into my head.

We’re returning to Maj first, correct? Enzo would like to track down a tool to assist with Creaturelore checks in the Void - some type of field guide or reference book.
-
Cornelis asks the captain and/or first mate where he can get additional ammo for the Gem Cannon in case he starts getting low.
Ocular asks the captain and/or first mate if there's any type of magnifying device that can be affixed to our ship, or himself, that could help amplify his vision while in the Spelljammer helm. He offers to keep an eye on the away team while they carry out the mission. Since he can see in all directions at once, he thought he might be able to prevent anyone or anything sneaking up on them while they travel to the mountain fortress.

After talking to each other and the tinker away team member Agnax, the respond. "The gems would have to be made and enchanted, so a caster that can make magic items. The regular ammunition just requires a smith with the correct talents."

"There are magical enchantments that can do such things, but we don't have the skill to enchant the helm further."

You are going to Maj. You can look around, but they don't plan on staying long.

Can we get more details on the types of creatures and hazards encountered on Speck? Giants, elementals, and winged magical lizards were mentioned. What types, sizes, quantities, locations?

"We have seen winged creatures of a several chromatic colors. Elementals of earth origin. Giants that are 25 feet tall and Treants."
"The come out of nowhere, but no flashes of magical teleportation. They don't appear to have homes or bases they come from."
-
Size and color of the winged creatures?
Size of the earth elementals?
What did each of the creatures do when encountered? Breath weapon, cast spells, through rocks, call down lightning.

Gnomlee says, "We don't have a lot of those details. We were watching from a high altitude through a spyglass. Its hard to tell the wingspan of a creature or how tall it is from that distance."
-
Cordero says:
Feels like these are all creations of the wingblade. And if non of these have been defeated, we don't know if they disappear when defeated or die like something physical. Could we acquire magic that allows us to damage constructs, dismiss, or maybe steam summons?
-
Cordero adds. "maybe we should land some of the crew first, maybe the challenge sent is equal to the threat. Simply put, if We go down there we end up fighting some outter planer big winged scary, but if that turtle goes down there maybe we are talking goblins..."

Its possible, the Aeroblade is intelligent enough to evaluate threats."

HE asks the Illusionist - I know of the spell Nystul's Magic Aura, is there a version that be applied to beings?

"To hide what magical aura's they have? Yes"

Gwen chimes in, “I might be able to tell if they creatures are summoned or not, maybe.”

I'm going to make the leap and say Aeroblade knows as much about magic as the 750 year old mostly diety elf. It doesn't really matter if they are summoned, or instantly created as a real creature at the will of Spek itself. The conjecture is, the response might be.. equivalent. Now that being said, they might be murdered horrendously and instantly. Maybe we should go back to Maj for some more crew.

"We can't fit more than 40, so not much more we can do there." replies Agnax the first mate.

The captain says, "I don't know any place except Habololy right now where we might be able to purchase things. We could go there, but I don't have endless coin to spend."

The captain says, "That's possible, but we'd have to get some to agree to try that, and it stands a real risk of them getting killed quickly and horribly. I don't know if I can agree to that...ethically."

Cordero air quotes..
Ethics..you are going to send Zalthor down there to murder some creatures that are just here trying to survive. You know giants have mothers and fathers too. Aren't we doing this for the greater good?

The captain sadly smiles and nods. "I will ask them if they are willing."
