Arriving at the Fellos Estate, most of you are met with a site you have seen before.  The estate is not a traditional fortress.  It does not have parapets on the walls or a moat.  The walls are not made of stone.  Its position in not highly defensible, in fact half of the estate sits before the average grade of the land nearby.  The gates are almost always open.  Guards do not constantly keep watch.  Even at dusk, with the constant threat of Fey looming, there is no sense of war or nervousness that pervades.  The animals are still chirping and moving about normally.  The trees are green with hints of color in the leaves as autumn has begun.

You materialize within site of the open gate, a large wooden double door which opens by being lifting from bottom outward.  The wall, made of wood (some of you note that the wood is rare White Birch and White Ash).  Massive logs thirty feet high and at least a foot in diameter.  There are trees behind the wall of notable height that can be seen from where you are.

It does not take more than a few seconds for someone to spot you.  A halfling's voice calls out: "Stay there, someone will be out to meet with you!"

I dust myself off and stand my shield in front of me on the ground.

After a minute, a group of halflings and elves, and a human, number eleven, rushes out.  They are armored, armed and ready to battle; although they don't appear to be rushing to fight you.

Dovin casts a sidelong glance at Grant.

Grant appears relaxed and patient as they wait

Valizar flexes every muscle on his scale covered body, cracks every knuckle in his hands and neck, and smiles a wide, toothy grin at the whoever appears to be the leader.  If nobody appears to be in charge, then the largest looking person in the group.  (Intimidate = random roll 16 + modifier 9 = 25).

The human, who is the largest approaching, stops and the rest slow after he see's Valizar's display.  The group dives into positions, drawing bows, wands, and swords.

"Explain yourself!" yells on halfling, who has crouched down behind a shield.

Dovin looks at Valizar, shakes his head and sighs, and mutters something in a language I'm fairly sure none of the rest of you speak.  He then looks at Grant again as if to say: any day now.

Grant steps forward, saying a quick 'by your leave' to Haas on the way by, hands palm open to the guardsmen down at his sides.

"We bring no ill to these gates this day, Guardsmen.  I am Grant Helodan, known to many within these walls.  We come seeking respite and to bring news to your superiors of the Fey threat.  Please forgive brother Valizar's display, we have thrown our might against the Unseeley (sp?) these past several days and have paid a high price for our efforts.  He has had to endure more than most and so is quick to ready himself for battle using the gifts our great lord Tyrogatore has bestowed on him."

(Diplomacy check : d20=13 + 11 ranks: Total 24)

The halfling behind the shield responds, "Master Helodan, I know of you.  My name is Harves Fikle, and I fought at the Battle of the Forest Coalition.  I have come out to make sure you are all who we believe you to be."

He remains mostly hidden behind the shield.

"Dovan of the guardians.  Haas of Tyrogatore.  Spaz the elder pixie.  And Valizar, who resembles the Devourer."

I am Spaz the young dashing pixie who is here to stop the fairies from going to war.  Now you have to stop calling me an elder pixie.   I am only a 1/2 a millenium old and I don't look much past 3 centuries.  I do miss stopping by the Fellos estate once this is all over I will have to stop by more often.

Several of the Halflings chuckle and nod.

Dovin bows, "greetings sir, I am Dovin Coril, the Shadow Breaker, Lupinal warrior of the Guardian Temple; ally and counselor to these servants of Tyrogatore." (his celestial glow is on its normal level)

The same halfling responds, "Hello Dovan.  If the rest of you would introduce yourselves, that would be helpful to moving this along."

"I am Valizar, servant of The Great Lizard.  I break enemies of Tyrogatore, I need no further introduction.  We are hungry and require sustenance."  (Looking at the smallest of the humans and yelling at the top of my voice..."You there...meat, bread, ale...now!")  Intimidate = random roll 14 + modifier 9 = 23.

Many of them back away and begin to shout out in halfling to Harves.

One of the elves steps up and prays, directing a blessing towards Valizar.  He has the symbol of Treetop.

Dovin, (yet more muttering and shaking of his head) takes a quick step or three (30') away from Valizar.

Has your companion is being rude to our host.    Can you keep him under control.

Grant steps right in front if Valizar and puts a restraining hand on his chest.

"Brother Valizar, these folk have done nothing to warrant your demanding tone and your agression. It would be a shame if i had to break the arm that Father Haas restored for you just to teach you a lesson."

Valizar laughs heartily at Grant's comment and pats him forcefully on the head.  "Tyrogatore has seen fit to grant you balls of cold iron...have it your way Grant."  Valizar takes a couple steps back and tries desperately to stifle his comments.

Assuming Haas is in some deep communing trance I take him by the elbow into the gate.

Hass shakes off the "hold person" he was about to cast on Valizar, nods approvingly at Grant's commentary and follows the halflings in.

They encircle you defensively and lead you into the estate.

Once inside, you all see, many not for the first time, the road that leads from the main gate and winds up and around some low hills to a mansion at the far end of the estate.  It is visible because of the road, and despite the large trees which grow intermittently in the estate.

There are shops and homes to your right and left and ahead.  Halflings milling about despite the late hour of the day.  Lights, mostly magical, allow the estate to keep active.

"We'll be heading to Dryol's Keep over there." says Herves as he points off to the right (south).  You can't see the keep he spoke of, as it is blocked by trees and hills and homes.  "Although you probably know, don't summon anything in here.  Don't cast any damaging spells.  And don't think any particularly nasty thoughts."  His voice is not joking with that line.
