Shots ring out from rifle and then pistol as Marston fires at the darkness, giving cover (he hopes) to Harrick.  One shot rings out in response, but smashes the trough and not Marston.

A minute after the house fell, Harrick casts his spell and the area of darkness in the distance fades in a wink.  Revealed is a pale gnome glistening with metal.  It is difficult in that instant to tell what is what on him.  The creature whistles like a steam engine starting.  You clearly see a rifle in one hand.  Smoke pours off of it, as the sun burns it.

Marston pops up to take a shot and clips the creature.  Immediately after getting clipped, the area around the creature begins to fill with smoke pouting off of its body.  An area ten feet across is quickly covering in the smoke.

If any of the others want to act, go ahead

As the smoke begins to billow out from the creature, you all hear another shot, from within the smoke, you hear another hiss an the creature gets hit again.

A quick look back shows that Tocu is up on the opposite hill, covered behind a boulder with a rifle.

Sly, anything?

Using the house remains as cover, how much open ground is there from the last point of cover to the smoke?  Approximately how big an area (sphere?) is the smoke?

Still over 100 yards.  The creature and darkness were moving clockwise and not getting much closer.  Harrick spent a few rounds invisible and hustling to get near enough to cast.

The new smoke area is about ten feet in diameter after a round.

Nods.. Harrick nods to himself.  Mumbling something about not being able to see through the smoke either..   I see my three skeletal 6 legged cats into the smoke to hug him.  Pulling their pins when they get there.

The cats move into the smoke, and shortly after there is an explosion from the smoke which is quickly followed by another, larger explosion which blindsides everyone.

We will pick up there tomorrow.

If you were close to a level, I will give out xp to the survivors, so have your level ready.
