Any one know what was in the case that was traded to collector which sealed the deal of selling our soul to the devil or more precisely the slaad.

No clue, but it must be valuable. Here's an estimate of total value of the trade:

- 12 giant bane weapons = 8k ea (assuming +1 giant bane) = 96k
- 11 fire resisting shields  = 19k ea (assuming +1 shield of fire resist) = 209k
- 10 winged boots = 16k ea = 160k
- 9 beads of force = 3k ea = 27k
- 8 bracers of spell resistance = 90k ea (assuming same as mantle of SR) = 720k
- 7 gloves of rock throwing = 1.4k ea (assuming same as bag of boulders) = 9.8k
- 6 cloaks of displacement = 24k ea = 144k
- 5 regenerating amulets = 90k ea (assuming same as ring of regen) = 450k
- 4 staffs of frost = 56.25k ea = 225k
- 3 helms of true seeing = 75k (assuming same as gem of true seeing) = 225k
- 2 rings of spell turning = 98.28k ea = 196.56k

Estimated market price of items = ~2.5MM gc

Battle of Mount Ila'Alnar part 16

Harrick and his undead held the east as easily as any group.  The one giant column that attacked them was perplexed and was content to throw boulders and spears.  For his part, on the other side of the mountain, mostly out of sight and contributing by keeping several hundred giants and fiends occupied, he was content that this was sufficient.  He sailed around on his wings of flesh, looking for a dead giant to raise and set against its former allies.  His vampires would gang up on a giant and force the others to kill their comrade from he turned on them.

Among the tinkers, the elves, and the ice gnomes, the giants and fiends were met with a match.  Prepared for both, each had guardians in good number and were bolstered by an air force of planes, dragons, and fey.  The Vishtoo advanced faster than any of those groups.  After Darkwind left their side, Bezeded S'z't surged forward.  Nothing the fiends or giants had was a good counter to them.  What’s more, they were joined by Haas and Valizar.  Swatting away boulders from above, they were the first to reach an entrance.  Taking cover, as per the plan, they waiting.

Dourvan’s calculations were almost visible around his head.  He conducting his symphony and was directing a masterpiece.  Arion arrived shortly after and he breathed, something he did not need to do.  “It will not be you.  I thought fate would deliver a great irony to us if you defeated an avatar in a fiery mountain.”  Arion slumped a bit and asked to be healed.
Juhutimose asked, “Not he who what?” but Dourvan did not respond.

Across the battlefield, the giants were losing, the fiends were being destroyed.  The cost was high.  Knights and guardians, nomad lords, and many soldiers of all types were dead.  Dash appeared in his human form near the command, which was now the muster point for the wounded and was becoming more populated by the minute.  “Kitino is dead”, he said woefully.  The death of one of the dragons was no less of a tragedy than the death of any soldier, but the loss of one of the most powerful pieces on the field was disheartening.

Solaris arrived next, holding in his arms a broken man.  “Raygen is dead.  I cannot revive him now.”  He laid the liberator respectfully on the ground.  Dourvan began to comment, and had he been a full deity, the instinct to hold the decidedly calculated comment would have been gone.  But that last bit of mortality held his tongue and instead he said, “not in vain, the elves have reached an entrance.”

Second to a cave, prince Dedaryl and his elves, accompanied by Knot had reached a cave.  Their guardians either dead of fighting fiends, their fey distracting the remaining giants.  They now waiting for a signal to enter.  Two tinker golems arrived next, accompanied by two dozen minders and tinkers.  The ice gnomes had rejoined Koth and made their way to a cave.  The Icefian, now lead by Alara Gemblade made it as well.  All the forces numbered fewer then a third their original strength.  But they made it.  At a separate entrance, three figures landed, one carried by the other two: Solaris, Darkwind, and Saren.

The fey launched off green flares to signal the next phase.  The planes, long circling and not involved dove down.  Now loaded with white oozes and holy water bombs, they unleashed a torrent of pain upon the fire giants and fiends that caused shrieks for miles.  Only the planar giants remained unharmed and the fifty or so still on the slopes were gathering to make their way against one of the groups about to enter.  The closed in on the Icefians, whether by chance or design unknown.  The Icefian artillery readied to fire, but rolling balls of fire and spells of wood warping sprang up all around.  “Iottians in the field!” the call rang out.  Forced to leave Dourvan, Ajax and the Trio of Gold went to aid the engineers.  Valen turned to Arion and asked, “If you want to join them, I can make that happen.  It won’t be quite the regeneration or heal you are used to though.”

Battle of Mount Ila'Alnar part 17

Those at the caves were left with a choice, and Dourvan in his wisdom had prepared them for such an event.  The orders were clear: defeat Sutyr.  But these planar giants were a huge threat and one that none of the allies had yet demonstrated could be handled.  But there were more pieces coming to their aid.  Gales, Solaris’ companion was on the field.  As were a myriad of clerics of Hemator he had brought.  They were able to help those at the entrances recoup and Gales allowed them to communicate.  Haas was the first to think of it, and the others may never have considered.  “See if the undead have any luck against them.”  Gales did not want to, but he delivered the message to Harrick.

“I thought we’d get out of this easy.” he commented as Gales left.  Having not yet spent any energy, and having lost none of his host, Harrick moved quickly to the other side of the mountain.  The giants that had been shadowing him fell back.  Reaching the planar creatures as they got to within two hundred feet of the Icefians, they dove into battle.  A shadow and cloud followed above them.  Negative energy swirled around the fight.  Alara wanted to see none of it, she signaled her sprite signaler and he launched a blue flare.  At each entrance, a lead box was produced and inside each was buckler.  The leader of each group strapped in to their arm and called the charge into the mountain.

The next to last defense were the Iottians.  Confused and weakened, they still numbered in the hundreds.  But Dourvan knew their limitations.  The tunnels were wide enough for a giant, but still offered a kill box for any competent spellcaster.  The Iottians began to unleash spells.  But they did not work.  Spell after spell faded against bubbles of Invulnerability.  The allies rushed in from all sides.  Barreling down the tunnels, they dispatched any Iottian they saw.  Elementals that got in their way were a slightly bigger problem, but still they advanced.

Down tunnels they went and the heat was such that their sense warped from it.  The tunnels lead to a massive chamber.  A temple meant for giants.  A circular room with benches lining the walls for rows and rows.  A pit of fire in the center of the floor and straddling it a fifty-foot black skinned red-haired giant.  Wearing bronze armor and holding a black sword of stone coated in fire.  The commanders, startled by the presence so quickly yelled for the soldiers to withdraw.  Solaris had sensed the strange change in space but could not warn the others in time.  They were still on the plane, but the distance had ben changed, likely to trick them.  With an unholy word, dozens dropped dead.  Many other were blinded, or deafened.
The giant made no other moves as elementals filled the room.  Seeing each other from across the room, the remaining heroes counted their number.  Solaris, Darkwind, Saren, Haas, Valizar, Bezeded S'z't, a tinker golem, Dedaryl, Knot, Kvan, Koth, Garanuf Frozensky, and Alara.

Can you say Death Knight Solar.  Haha.

If Harrick was on that list.  I would have added him.

I think all the remaining heroes will survive at first, but Sutyr's avatar won't go quietly.  Once he knows defeat is imminent, that's when Ajax's prophecy will be fulfilled and the entire mountain will erupt and cover the land in liquid hot magma.  Much like Pompeii, the surrounding region will be covered in ash, lava, and eventually solid stone where the heroes' bodies will be forever preserved in their final superhero poses.  From that time forward, it will no longer be a palace of evil, but a sacred monument to the last stand of the coalition of triumphant heroes.

Nice Idea -- I see Harrick being carried away form the hot magma in the arms of giant skeletons as they are slowly eroded away by the magma, getting shorter and shorter as their massive bones are turned to ash.

I’ll be disappointed if Koth survives this. What better way for a raging Liberator to go out? Old age would be disgraceful.

Also pretty sure that when Sutyr is defeated, Harrick will swoop in and ingest/inhale/insert into himself whatever remains of the avatar’s corpse to bolster Vestillion’s claim as patron of fire. The surge of power ultimately leads to his assault against humanity on the day of the red sky on the Plateau in 816.

Solaris, Haas, Valizar (minus another appendage), and Alara.  Everyone else makes heroic sacrifices to thin the elemental ranks and get Sutyr into a position to be boxed in by those final four and ultimately defeated...

...by the arrow that Ash fired at the beginning of the assault.

Battle of Mount Ila'Alnar part 18

“What is taking so long?  They should either be dead or have won by now.” commented Emenses.  In the fields around the mountain where the battle had changed dramatically.  Since the groups had entered the mountain as Harrick and the undead engaged the planar giants.  The Iottians had all but destroyed the artillery.  Ajax and the others had limited the deaths to only a handful.  More Iottians and some of those that had gone into the mountain had come out of it.  All over, a break had emerged and new plans were being drawn.

Arion, now with a crutch, watched out over the field.  Annoyed that he was not with most of the other leaders, he was comforted that Ajax was here, as well as Lukius.  The Trio of Gold and Valen were no comfort.  “What do you see?” he asked Dourvan.  “Our enemies are in the ground between, on the slopes of the mountain.  We are mostly gathered here, between the artillery and the trenches, and then closer to the summit.  The planes are refueling and rearming, our artillery is broken.  Their artillery is coming back into play.  Our large allies had destroyed the pieces on this side on the mountain, but they are bringing more to bare and Soar cannot engage them alone.”  The dwarf, unchanged from the first moment he began again gathered himself and recalled he was in the company of mortals.  “We have suffered losses.  Of the forces we brought, only the planes are at more than half strength.  Perhaps when the archons of Peace give a report, it might not be a harsh.” He motioned to the north where the archons were collecting the wounded.  “There is only one functioning golem not in the mountain.  The Fey are almost all gone, but many have fled and are not dead.  The vishtoo suffered badly, their lack of organization hurt them.  The Icefians are a fraction as well, having been a target.  The ice gnomes faired well in their trenches, but even they have half their strength.  The elves are the same.  Harrick’s force remains the strongest among our allies.”  The thought sickened Ajax and Arion, because they had to be happy that there remained an strong ally.

“Of our enemies, the elementals were fewer than we anticipated and we must have dealt them a huge blow when the attacked.  The Giants are at near half strength and are regrouping both on the slopes and in the mountain.  The fiends have been decimated.  I don’t think one in ten remain.  It’s the planar giants and their ilk that are the problem.  They have not responded to attacks in the same way.  Only Harrick’s force gave them pause once the Vishtoo and Haas entered the mountain.”  Those assembled weren’t sure what all of that meant in the grand scheme.  Emenses asked, “So what does that mean?” Dourvan turned to desert elf, who unlike almost everyone else seemed unphased and as if he had not seen battle today, “To answer the first, it means that planar forces are active in the mountain and time is stretched.  To the second, we can still win.”

From his spot on the slopes, Harrick watched and waited.  He spoke confidently to the creatures around him, of how they represented themselves well and were showing the world their value.  Stragglers of the other groups had neared them for protection.  In the minutes, beautiful vampiric woman with elven blood began to speak to the stragglers of the joys of eternal life.  Elicana, brought smiles to Harrick in so many ways, and now was no different.  He already had several of those that had died on the field lined up to take the plunge into eternal life.  Those that refused served him as well.  Ten giant zombies now guarded the flanks.  Several wights stood between the planar giants and them.

Elsewhere, Spaz was collecting fey from where ever he could find, trying to rally them and get ready for what Dourvan told him would be another wave of fighting.  He was the first to sense a change.  Spaz heard cries of pain and calls to flee.  All manner of flares were lit.  One fey commented that it was the victory celebration before being crushed.

“The queen is on the board.” Khenmet said loud enough for everyone at the base camp to hear.

minus another appendage, nice.

You are all missing one that has been noted in story previously to survive this.
