Ayva (Windblade, Rogues)

The reign of Iott was a safe and profitable time for the Kormiere family member.  Her shop flourished and her contacts did not get her into trouble.  After the Day that Magic Broke, her shop was just as busy as it was before that day.  Although things were a little more tense as some expected Iott to fall and Port Talp to face retribution, those things did not occur.

Ayva bought and sold, traded and bartered.  It was very entertaining.  She married and had a child and then a second, but mainly because the family expected it.  She kept control of her business and her husband had little say, he was happy to be in a wealthy family.  In that time, she continued to write for the local papers as she had been for years under the pseudonym Gabriele Van Buren.

More than fifteen years had passed at her shop when the plagues began to emerge.  Wasting no time, she closed the shop, collected her savings and fled the city to the Kormiere estates.  There she lived for a decade before returning to the city.  In that time, she would occasionally sneak in and take notes.  She had her contacts send her messages and did what she could for them if they asked while away.  She continued to write for the The Talpan, although her advice was somewhat limited now that she was not in the city.  After a few years, she allowed some of her trusted employees to reopen the shop.

During those years, he trusted bodyguard went totally deaf and she sent a good deal of time and money finding ways to return his hearing.  Reaching out to the twins, she was able to procure a psionic item that allowed the dwarf to see sounds.

Tragona and Tragorum (Valdis, Rogues)

The twins managed their businesses well during the reign of Iott.  Weaving in and out of the guild with no name for fifteen years.  Smuggling was profitable.  Times were easy in Port Talp and they worked only a little to maintain their lifestyle.

When the plagues came, things grew challenging.  There was little money to bilk from the wealthy, who hid.  The poor were desperate, but the schemes of the past were less tolerated and even the twins sometimes felt a twinge of guilt as the sick begged for aid.  Looking to bring about a little good karma and hoping to get the city back to a place where they could profit again, the twins made the decision to do something.

Entertaining and educating, they became minor celebrities in the cantons where they worked.  Working their connection, they convinced the trash collectors to visit these places a but more often.  Their efforts paid dividends and even lead some of the other guilds to follow suit.  "A dead city is not good for business."

They did not escape the outbreaks and two years into their efforts, Tragorum grew sick.  The diagnosis was Calamoust, which weakened the body until the heart did not have the energy to beat.  Tragona did nothing but care for his brother for the next three years.  Living off of their collected wealth, they survived.  Thankful residents delivered food and items for them despite the risk.  Most survived three months, but with Tragorum's strength and his brother's skill, they were able to endure.

By the time they got back into business, the city was moving again.  They joined the guild again and started to rebuild.

Byron Bridgewarden Mountainmagic (Terrorshard, Wizards)

The templar of Smofarf was incredibly busy after his return to Habololy on the Day that Magic was Broken.  Returning to the mountains, having accomplished his mission of returning Montaron, he was put to work.  The kingdom anticipated war.  In the years of Iott's reign so far, no battle had not gone the way of the wizards.  The Dwarven Kingdom, which had allied with Iott, was called upon to keep their long time enemies in Nomagok in check.  For five years, that had been easy.

On that fateful day, when Smofarf wept and the kingdom cried out in pain, Nomagrok had thrown itself against as many cities as possible.  They were suicide missions, they didn't capture anything meaningful, and the king and his advisors quickly realized there was something else going on, but it did not matter.  The distraction needed only a brief time.  Now the kingdom needed to prepare for a full scale war.

Byron was set to defend his clan's mountain homes.  For three years, they prepared and waited.  The attacks did not come.  Some places in the kingdom were challenged, but the seat of power, the Mountainmagic clan homes, were left untouched.  Strategy was afoot.  Other clans, who had often been less inclined than the Mountainmagic to side with Iott, were the ones suffering from the attacks.  Divisions in the kingdom became larger.

In 800, Byron was sent out to protect the nobles who were going to the other clans to convince them of the right path, the one that stayed with Iott.  His job became bodyguard and his shield got far more use than his ax.  Rabble-rousers from Nomagrok riled up the crowds.  Granitebreaker clan members often refused to attend the meetings.  A year later, things became more complex.

Kallark's ascension split the kingdom further.  Byron had enough.  He would no longer fight fellow dwarves of the kingdom, even just to subdue them.  He refused missions from the government and listened only to the clergy of Smofarf, which grew apart after Kallark's rise.

For the next fifteen years, he traveled the String Mountains, inspecting and defending the temples of Smofarf.

Profit (Malchia, Rogues)

The ascension of the Collector changed Profit's life.  He was now one of the most powerful devoted agents of the new deity.  He soon stopped as an active member of the guild, as the Collector called him to other things.  He would return on occasion to visit Natsu and drop an item to the Collector.  But his life became world travel as evangelist and collection agent.

Known as the Tsuglulakh Agyent among the humanoids that did not worship, he was adept and speaking to them of the new deity.  The Collector would trade what was not needed for what was.  His pockets were ever deep.  The world of magic was awesome and with the Collector's help, you can be part of it.  Making magic understandable to even the uneducated.  Unlocking sorcerous powers in those that had never suspected.  Profit the prophet he was called by those that listened.

All that filled his days was finding, collecting, and converting.  More joy would be hard to find.  Oblivious the war and political struggles, Profit occasionally stumbled into a fight that he quickly avoided.  He was vaguely aware that the clerics of Han~Sui were after him.  One chased him all over the continent, and Profit would toy with him.

Returning to Borkondof, he had the honor of gaining an audience with Harrl the Furious.  The bugbear leading, who had recently promised the religion of Quan Yin a temple in his lands for every one hundred pups he sired was looking for more.  Profit disguised himself, just in case Harrl had a incredible memory for a bugbear.  Profit told him of his lord and Harrl hair stood on end, his eyes narrowed.  "If your lord returns to me my legacy, I will build him a temple that reaches the heavens!  I will bow before him every day!  I will take claim all the magic of Yellowia for him!  All of the wretches that call me lord will pray to him!  Do this and I will make you master of all kobalds for as long as you live!"

As luck would have it, Profit knew just where Harrl's legacy was...

Schurke (Malchia, Rogues)

Only a few year had brought the ingenious Kobald to the height of his ambition.  Master of a guild that had gained notoriety and wealth without becoming targeting by the law or powerful organizations.  After their success of the Borkondof job, he laid low for a while.  The guild continued to be active, but on low key activities.  The other top agents, those who had started the guild at his side, took time to enjoy their spoils.

When business began to pick up, Schurke quickly learned that it was best to be on the side of Iott.  Their detections too good, their agents to powerful.  Only business that would not draw their ire was to be completed by the guild.  This meant that some of the members went off guild time, but that was fine.  The guild with no name went on earning.

As the years moved along, Schurke found that he had to spend time requiting and training.  Lured away by better offers and divine intervention, member after member left.  Plagues arrived and helped business a great deal, when he could keep members alive.  Some fell ill, others found a higher calling, and some fled for safer pastures.  By 814, he was left with only Esme from the crew that had pulled off that most successful of heists in 790. And then suddenly, even she was taken.  Schurke knew who had done it, thought about reprisals, but realized she had aged out of her usefulness.

So in 815, in a world where Iott was back to being in the place it was before the appearance of Marshall Lyla, with magic different than ever before, Schurke began to collect new members to a guild.  This new guild would rise from the ashes of the old one, mysterious taking out the remaining members of the guild with no name.  It would be free from connections, debts, and warrants.  Schurke would not be its head, he would just be a lackey, just a lowly Kobald begging at the feat of some great mastermind.
