This needs to be altered in two ways.  First, the granted ability needs to be made usable more than once per day, but I think reduced to d4s instead of d6s to mitigate that a little.  Second, the undead spells need to be replaced.

    Cause Fear: One creature of 5 HD or less flees for 1d4 rounds.
    Death Knell: Kill dying creature and gain 1d8 temporary hp, +2 to Str, and +1 caster level.
   * Animate Dead: Creates undead skeletons and zombies.
    Death Ward: Grants immunity to death spells and negative energy effects.
    Slay Living: Touch attack kills subject.
  * Create Undead: Create ghouls, ghasts, mummies, or mohrgs.
    Destruction: Kills subject and destroys remains.
   * Create Greater Undead: Create shadows, wraiths, spectres, or devourers.
    Wail of the Banshee: Kills one creature/level.

I think the ability is Ok. I also think Animate Dead is fine but I would get rid of the other two. How about anti-life shell for the 7th? Horid Wilting or Mass Avasculate for 8th?

The death ability is very powerful.  I don't think that needs to be used more then once a day.

I don't disagree with it being powerful, I just wanted to bring it more in line with what we have been doing making the abilities once per caster level per day.

Thoughts once once vs multiple?

I wouldn't worry about making them all similar mechanics as long as they are balanced and fit with the story.

You would have to proportionately reduce its power and I don't think d4's are enough of a downgrade.
