Title: As the War Drags On...
Post by: Asinjin on October 25, 2019, 09:36:31 AM
It will have been a year and a half since the battle of Owt.

Grant, Haas, Valizar, Vor'Ruk, Ash all get 200 times level xp.

The time since the battle has been a stalemate, with neither side advancing much in the war.  The wugs and orcish legion have been dancing on opposite sides of the perceived border with some skirmishes, but no major engagements.  Trenches and fortifications have been dug in and refugees from the area have fled, often helped by Ajax and the agents of the forest that have not taken a side.

The gnolls are camped not far from Owt and have taken over the surrounding area, guarding against incursions from Scalehome.  The residents of Owt are still content to have recovered from the seige.

How have relations been with Rosetree since the events of last season?

During that time, can Ellic help Haas set up a meeting with the high clerics of the Counsel deities? Globally. We need to talk about this Greenfellow threat.

I love it when your questions beat me to my next post...

The Rosetree Kingdom has declared Balinhost and their allies unwelcome.  This is dramatic since the Rosetree Kingdom was one of the first to recognize Balinhost diplomatically.  They have now allied with Scalehome, but continue to allow trade and travel with members of that alliance.  They have declared that until Balinhost relinquishes their coalition that includes Baenrl and Garlaccal, as well as the loose allegiance to the humans of southern Yellowia, no formal relations between the two will be allowed.

Balinhost, knowing that even if they relinquish those allegiances, Rosetree will not join them against Scalehome, has refused.

We never distributed magic item loot from this thread from last season:

Haas will take unclaimed items back to Jaswap and see if he can trade them in to get an item crafted.

Ellic has turned his skills of strategy to diplomacy in the year and a half.  Spending little time on the field of battle.  He travels the near world looking for allies.  However, his current crop does him no favors.

Yellowia will not since the southern Yellowia horsemen are part of the alliance.  The Orcish Empire stance is clear, since a rogue legion is on your side.  The nations of the Odd Lands stay as they historically have been, neutral.  The Destroytian Republic's hands are tied because of their alliance to Iott.  Thalmeret sees no advantage to extending aid.  Amansky has indicated they are more likely to side with Scalehome if they were to join in the battle.

On the bright side, Jaswap has officially declared for your side.  XP to anyone that can guess why.

Because Haas is the high cleric of the major religion headquartered in Jaswap?

What about Pacyr?

Haas is more interested in meeting with religious leaders. Not nations.

Partially, but not the main reason.

What about Pacyr?

Being part of the Oddlands, they remain neutral as the others nations there do.

Treetop and Habastly remain neutral.  Lakius' religion has no agents in or around the forest since the sky giants abandoned them.

Hemator goes as Pacyr does.

Who else do you consider?

Is it because Jaswap is tired of being conquered and doesn't want Scalehome to take over?  Or perhaps because Tyrogatore himself created Jaswapan Striking?  These are logical suggestions, but I'm hoping it's because they want to show support for the curb stomp heard around the world.

At some point shortly after you hear word of the events in Baenrl, Ajax arrives at your headquarters in Balinhost.

Haas’ focus is on getting validation from religious leaders against the Greenfellow threat, not so much national support. It’s a PR campaign - if we get the major religions to back our cause, people will eventually follow. Haas targets conversations with the high clerics of non-evil deities not opposed to Tyrogatore: Stasis, Celetal, Han~Sui, Tfop, Habastly, Smofarf, Lakius, Hemator, Dedestroyt, Gnarion, Treetop, Arsuranyodel, Melodi, Mouser, Drunnbar. Everyone in the same room at the same time would be great, though 1-on-1 sessions would be acceptable. I can travel via wind walk and word of recall. Messaging emphasizes that Greenfellow’s subjugation of the forest is based on intimidation, coercion, and misinformation, and GF’s rise is a threat to every deity’s power.

Is there a noticeable difference in weather (e.g., more normal) since the gnolls’ assault on the weather singers?

You speak with your old friend Reik as a spokesdwarf for Drunnbar.  They support your side, but can offer limited help.

Mouser's faith supports you as well, but again can offer less help than Drunnbar.

Tfop is conflicted, likes neither side, and allows each cleric and faithful member to decide.

Gnarion's faith cannot decide, as gnolls and fire giants are despised but Greenfellow is seen as a subjugater.

Dedestroyt doesn't pick sides in war.

Your best response is from Han~Sui.  The religion declares yours to be the more honorable side of the war.  His faithful are barred from entering on the side of Greenfellow (unless grandfathered into alliance previously).

This is what you discover quickly:

The former king has managed to raise up an army of giants and is marching on his old castle.  The new king has ordered his giants in the Great Forest to remain in the forest.

This news comes from the giant outpost in the forest.

Not in the places you control.

Has the war reached the Plateau?  If so, do we have the support of the Plateaueans or the powers of Celetal?

News of the war has reached the Plateau, but the tinkers and cities of the Plateau have no interest in getting involved.

Celetal remains neutral in almost every war unless there is some threat to knowledge and thought.

How about Smofarf? He's got something at stake with Greenfellow stealing faithful from his "magic" aspect.

Haas will take it all (divine and arcane) back to Jaswap, sell it, and divvy up the cash. Unless someone wants a specific item from the loot we collected. He will use his share to get some items crafted.

Does Dedestroyt have issues with cult deities?

Smofarf does not see a threat significant enough to involve the dwarven kingdom.  The forest doesn't have a lot of his faithful for magic, more for craft.
