So three Cryo Hydras?

So three Cryo Hydras?
"Only if they can launch cold attacks at range.  If you engage in melee combat you'll be hit with fire damage every time you attack.  I'm no expert, but wouldn't you take extra damage from fire in that form?"

Benlin responds, "Only if you use a more powerful spell.  This one only takes form, not function.  We won't be able to breath cold either.  Its just that I have seen the cryo hydra and not the normal of pyro."

Parker chimes in "The Cryo-hydra tactic is more for the other things that will come to fight us as we attempt to destroy the HellFire Engine"

"Understood.  Just looking out for your safety is all.  Well...as best as anyone can under these unfortunate circumstances."

Who will be in the group waiting below, and which four will teleport with Benlin?

Where exactly are you planning to teleport?

On top of it.

In that case, Rubius will go with those on the ground.  He's much more effective at range and invisible.

I am probably better guarding those on the ground, as among those troops i can probably create a large circle of control havoc with my reach and agility.

Parker and Shank will go with the teleport if there is room.  Parker can fly, so not touching the HellFire engine won't be a problem.  This way he can rain his own type of havoc from above when and where it is needed.

Yes, flyers only would be suggested for the teleport.  Can Shank fly on his own?  I only have 4 teleport spots other than me....unless we get xp....Kerkly and Mobius along with Parker and Benlin plus one more.

Besides A&A and likely Shar, who goes underneath?

Can Shank fly on his own?
Yes.  But, depending on what is between us and the HellFire engine, him flying out there on his own would likely be a death sentence.  There is a spell though, although I don't have it, called 'Familiar Pocket' that I could put him in if I have time and access to learning that spell

Ari and Astrek will be part of the ground force.

Since we will have a...(what's a group of dire badgers called?)...badass?...of dire badgers at our disposal, we could layout a series of egress tunnels across the battlefield in case we need a quick escape.

Tunnels could also be handy to set up our skirmishers for a sneak attack on the horde's rear. A simultaneous attack on the Hellfire Engine and the unprepared back lines could throw them into disarray and buy us some time.

Also, we should brainstorm ways to avoid melee combat with the Hellfire Engine and take advantage of its weaknesses.

What kind of range can Thaddeus get with his rifle? Can we snipe it? I think Ari can solve the DR/good+adamantine problem if we aren't in melee.

We know it has cold vulnerability, anyone have any long range cold spells?

It probably has an awful touch AC if there are ways to capitalize on that.

Can anyone say hastened aids?

If we were to get xp, Benlin might have a cold spell to help.

Sh'aar wonders out loud " is it possible to do enough damage to it without closing?  I don't know how these things operate, is there someone who needs to run it?  Someone who has the command words ,  maybe delay is as good!"

That's a question for Thaddeus. I think he should pack enough of a punch to make a difference, especially if we bless his ammo and change it to adamantine (I have a potion for each). The farther away we can hit the golem, the more time we'll have to chip away at it, and the less time we'll have to spend engaging it close up. Mixing in a few long-range cold spells (like this (http://dokdorspace.com/dndtools/spells/spell-compendium--86/ice-flowers--3881/index.html)) will bring it down faster. We want to be far enough away from it when we strike the final blow so we aren't caught in the resulting explosion. We'll just have to deal with the baatezu that teleport in to stop us.

I don't know how these things operate, is there someone who needs to run it?  Someone who has the command words ,  maybe delay is as good!
Golems typically don't require active control. From what I've picked up from Asinjin, they operate like completely obedient soldiers - once given an order they execute it without further instruction.

Good thought, but I think the range on the archon's light ray is pretty short (30 ft?)...it would likely be a suicide mission for them.
