Title: Warehouse
Post by: whitesword on December 07, 2011, 08:19:21 AM
Feel free to plan your next moves.

The men with the captain trail behind him.  You see through the stone as they leave the dock two large wheeled dolly's each with a very large keg, 200 gallons, begin to follow them, moving on their own.  The men seem aware of them.

The men with Ashstaff and Marfanz form a box around them.

Vasili nods... "yes, we need help."

Vasili thinks...

"I think those Kegs are the ones they where moving very very carefully.  Maybe with a threat of destroying them, we can buy some time.  Who wants to jump on them with a pick?"

"Although what they are doing is not illegal, because of who they have with them, we can legally stop them."

You have not seen those kegs before. The last ships are the ones you watched them carefully unloading. Remember you are not with the sergeant- he is the one following the captain (and the kegs).  Assuming they are going to the warehouse there is no way you could get there ahead of them.

There is no watch station directly in your path you would have to send one or more of you to get help.

Norman says: what do we charge Ashstaff with? Marfanz didn't come out of his house so its not harboring. Plus the guy is in disguise; he'll just say he's a hired guard.

In the blink of an eye, Uleric's batons and constables uniform are replaced with his armor, bow and several quivers of arrows.  In the split second before this occurs, you see a ring on his finger give the slightest of glows.

"Had I though ahead more, I could have become our walking armory.  As it is, Norman,  We should send our fastest runner to the nearest guard station to get reinforcements to surround them all and weapons for the rest of you.  Meanwhile, we should cut them off from the ship.  We can listen to see if he calls Marfanz by name.  That will establish that he in fact knows who he is and shows his connection to a known criminal.  That should be enough to at least detain Ashstaff for a while."

You have two options for a watch station.  The south ward (where the mansions are) is the opposite direction from where you are headed, about half an hour from there to the warehouse on foot. The dock ward station is past the warehouse but less than ten minutes at a run from the warehouse.

In the rush at the end I forgot- you are all armed per the sergeant's orders.

"As constables, is our word that a man is who we say is is not enough?"

I can get quickly anywhere you need me to go, However, since I am the only one who can see through the gem, i don't know if that's such a good idea.

How long have I been looking through the gem?  I wanna know my point total.

I don't understand.

That's not the point.  Yes, our superiors will or should take our word that it is Marfanz, but we need Allstaff to show he is in collusion with him.

It is near the day of light so dusk is late. The parties leave their respective destinations at 1130 sharp so you have used 3 points

"I think that it is fair to assume that if we press the point about Marfanz, that Ashstaff will inject himself into the situation and interfere with our business, leading us to have the authority to detain him."

There is no question of your authority to stop and detain Ashstaff, it's a question of if you have enough to convict him or even charge him at this point.

"I meant the authority to arrest.  If he tries to prevent us from taking custody of Marfanz."

Alright say Norman, but we don't have anything to charge him with if he just goes on his merry way.  And he's on his merry way to meet with an fugitive, we think, so why stop him now? Other than the possibility that we'll all get killed.

"I am not suggesting we stop him right now, but I am just speaking to our options should we have a need to stop them when nothing else illegal has happened."

Norman looks relieved at that answer.

How are you following them?  Are you behind them, moving on parallel streets or do you just go right to the warehouse?  Is one of you going to try to go for help?

I will use my abilities to trail behind them, but not directly.

Do we see anyone else on the streets?

"I'll go to the dock ward watch station for backup. I have a spell to make it a quicker trip. I'll meet you at the warehouse."

Bryvis casts "expeditious retreat". The dock ward is by Lady Goldpath's residence, correct?

No, the dock ward is ahead of you.  Lady Goldpath lives at the KOWS Hq, which is about equidistant to the South Ward Station.

Do we see anyone on the streets near us?  Do we pass any buildings of people we know or know of?

The streets are empty.  You do not see any people or buildings you know on your path.  You will not pass either Stormmoon residence or the businesses you have visited.

Do we have some sort of signal whistle unique to the constables that will alert everyone around in case of an issue?

Yes.  You all have a whistle.

When we begin you have been following for about ten minutes.  You have stayed a few blocks back to avoid being spotted on the empty streets.  The sleet cuts visibility to only two hundred yards at most.
