Why here; why them; why now?

First (for a change) XP: everyone gets 1200- your level.

It occurred to me after we finished I may have unintentionally misled you in response to a question. Get your investigation started and if you’re going astray I’ll correct the issue.

What is this formula exactly?  I'm sure it's just a typo, but looks like 1200 minus level.

1200 x level wouldn't make sense either, we didn't do that much.

1200 / level maybe?

1200 minus 100x your level. Sorry. That’s what I get for doing it first.

After [hurridly] leaving the gunshop, Uleric shakes his head vigorously to clear out all of the wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey stuff.

"Ok, one thing that still doesn't make sense to me is, why would the Scaled elven woman and her companion from the ship buying alcohol from a merchant in an alleyway?  She said that they were buying alcohol for the crew of their ship in celebration of the end of the voyage or war or something.  As I understand it, you would get that from a tavern, or several taverns, not some back alley exchange."

Are there any alcohols that are illegal in Phiam?

Buying alcohol in bulk is difficult. Wake can make a general knowledge check.

Can we get a recap of the similar scaled elf homicides in other cities? 2 in Porter, 2 in Cape Tolya? And timing.

How many scaled elves reside here in Phiam?

The two murders in Portet were a former soldier working as a liaison with the constables (like your friend Quorl) and a cleric of Stasis working as a liaison with the government (not the constables). Both were torn limb from limb and found in alleys.

In Cape Tolya the victims were brothers. They were former sailors of the Scaled Nation navy who did not join the army after their navy was defeated. They signed on with an Icefian merchant ship as soon as the blockade was lifted. They too were killed in gruesome fashion and their bodies were found near the docks in Cape Tolya.

There are likely 3000 Scaled Elves in Phiam, 90%+ long term residents.

Since we haven’t gotten much done I may extend the constables one more session.

Last week you asked a question about the bonded warehouse and I said many people/businesses have to hold goods there. I did not mean to imply the books were not imported by the victim. They were and you saw his name on the bill.
