RECAP
After defeating the queen, Beorn and Frederick went searching for loot to no avail and the rest of the group opened the hatch under the queen's den. They found two Grean clerks filing paperwork. They surrendered to us and we questioned them, but they weren't very much help. Once Beorn and Frederick returned, the rebel Gree "Dave" and a couple of his associates stepped out of the shadows and thanked us for all we've done.
Shortly after, scouts told us we were being approached by a cyborg undead Gree and four additional Gree. Dave told us this cyborg was a fully weaponized version of the bio-weapon the Gree have been developing. In fact, it was this very being that they were trying to capture within the teleport trap they sprung on us. We debated whether to skip town and teleport away or stand and fight. We chose to fight and eliminate this threat, so we took up strategic positions and waited for the approaching group. Once they stepped into town the cyborg taunted us and sarcastically thanked us for making it easy to find us.
Beorn was enlarged and raging at this point and led the charge. Mighty blows were deflected with ease and the cyborg laughed at us. Oratio and Kai stepped up and began pummeling it, but only scored an occasional glancing blow. The casters began assaulting it with Magic Missiles and the Wizards and Dave's buddies began buffing us. Also, Mugron took an unmovable form and began taunts of his own against the abomination. It didn't take kindly to the scathing remarks and started focusing it's attention on Mugron. It's mighty strikes landed heavily on Mugron, but his enhanced form absorbed the damage well.
It was at this time Beorn decided on a different approach. He and the rest of the melee fighters ganged up on the cyborg and wrestled it to the ground. In a stroke of luck, Beorn managed to pin the creature rendering it restrained for several rounds.
Odde then came crashing out of cover behind a building having morphed into a giant beetle and lashed out at the enemy with fierce pincer attacks. Those landed cleanly and began tearing through the creature. Realizing it was in dire straights, it activated a green glowing orb in its center that seemed to act like a power source. The metal on it's body began to reverberate with noise and clanking.
Magic, melee, and claws continued to rain down on the cyborg until Frederick unleashed a barrage of Chain Missiles. At the same time, Beorn was teleported about 50 feet away by one of Dave's healers. He decided to charge and attack the cyborg. The missiles struck and caused a catastrophic meltdown of the creature's core which lead to a massive explosion. Naturally, Beorn began bragging that it was his charging spear (think Goldberg from wresting fame) that caused the explosion despite the fact that the missiles set it off. Now we have new songs and poems about Beorn's exploding charges stuck in our heads.
That's where we left off, and mercifully, DM suggested firing up new characters next season so we won't have to hear the incessant rantings of Beorn.
