Deities
« on: October 03, 2014, 02:10:14 PM »
I will list here deities that everyone knows exists, are detail how they are different...or in the case of new ones, new detail.  Again, I am trying to be not very in depth.

Dedestroyt is the most similar in existence on Astilan as on Habololy.

The only change is the near world wide legend that the Halflings brought death (and Dedestroyt) to the world.

Habastly is very similar.  The his faith is less involved in anything not-nature oriented on Astilan.

Tyrogatore is very similar.  Since there are no deity judges, his worship is not as widespread and he is not worshiped as a judge.  He is the patron of the Tryrogs and the Marchikalea (dinosaurs).  He is the patron of unarmed combat, but not universally monks.

Tommimao is similar as well.  The main difference is what he is worshipped for is almost entirely travel.  That doesn't mean he doesn't also have his other aspects, only that they are little known or not a concern of the peoples.

Smofarf and Treetop both exist, but they are relegated to almost exclusively racial deities.

Gruweas exists, but is the patron of the Gree and the deity of rivers, streams, lakes, and other bodies of water.  To a much lesser degree, he is known as the keeper of laws.

Celetal exists.  Since there are no judges, she is not worshiped as such.  Her faith is one of hermits, monks, and knowledge.  She is not known for psionics.

Drunnbar exists.  He is the patron of the mundane over magic.  He is also a dwarven racial deity and the deity of earth.  He is known for craft as well.  Most that pay attention to such things see him as more powerful than Smofarf.

Dresta is the mother of the world.  She is considerably different than on Habololy.  She is seen as cold and beautiful.  She is a deity of magic, beauty, and sacrifice (that is the sacrifice of others).  She is also considered the mistress of the undead.

It should be noted, that even though she is referred to as the mother of the world, she is not believed by most to have been the power that created it.  She is seen as the most powerful deity.

Arsur'anyodel is seen as a loving aunt...in comparison to Dresta.  Almost as important to the world and the deity that keeps balance to Dresta's power.  Asur'anyodel is credited with painting the beautiful sky and the world above.  She is the matron of sacrifice (of oneself).  She is who is prayed to for peace and redemption.  She is the enemy of the undead.

There is a power of change in the world that has no known clerics.  It is a bogeyman and blamed when the best laid plans don't turn out right.  It is saddled with blame for things that are good not remaining forever.

On Habololy, this force is known as Compture....and the most learned and knowledgeable of Astilan give it that same name.

There are several other deities, but since I don't think they will come up either with a PC or NPC, at least for tomorrow, I will stop there.
