Unless you have some specific knowledge or background dealing with the planes, you would have little or no knowledge of it. The average person has no contact with planar forces.
When speaking in generic terms, of heaven and hell, the average person will use Gehenna and Elysium.

The elemental planes are more understood than the outer ones.
The elemental planes are seen as the places where the mass and energy come from to create the world.
