Subdual Unconscious / Re: What can you do when..

After re-reading the rules for subdual damage, we have been doing something technically incorrect.  If a character has taken a combined amount of subdual and real damage equal to their total hit points, then they are supposed to be allowed to take move actions until their real damage equals their total hp.

We have played in the past that they are unconscious.  Should we stay with what we have been doing, or change the rule to its original way?

A note that it would not have changed the past tournaments, as you are basically out of a fight when you are reduced to move only.


I like what the rule actually says. You are so beat up, all you can do is stumble away.  Makes sense.. I say change it.

I was more asking in a official caravan to make sure we get there.

The trick is to make them crafts and not professions, which is a different skill.  The line is fussy.


Most of them posted could be a profession.  Armor Smith, BoatBuilder, Cobblers, etc...  **shrug** dunno

I am creating a complete list of areas of expertise for the crafters.  Here is what I have so far:

Animals
Clay
Cloth
Fibers (hair, rope)
Food
Gems
Glass
Leather
Liquid
Literature
Plants
Mechanics
Metals
Stone
Wood
Visual Art

Note that although this ability is the same as the Tinker class ability, the list of area is different.  The only one that exists currently in both class's list is mechanics.


That's a hard one.  Fibers and Cloth are basically the same.  Both are related to Plants.  Visual Art is too generic with Sculpting and Painting.

Since it is our rule I feel it is ok to make a little complicated to fit our needs.  How about you don't automatically miss on a 1.  Also if the hit does more then 50% of your HP then you die if your miss your save.  If the hit does less then 50% of your HP but still causes you to make a massive damage save then you are only reduced to -1.


I like that!


Even though it wouldn't have saved any of my characters.


Or.. you get reduced to -1 unless a critical was involved.  Then you die.

Can we please... pretty please with a cherry on top, use the Calendar supported on this forum.  It would make my life so much easier tracking which days we play.  As reading a list of posts isn't very efficient!!!

How about a compromise.  Massive damage saves should only be allowed for Critical Hits, or something gets cut off (vorpal/sharpness).  To me, that makes sense.  If you shot a giant in the bum with a arrow, he shouldn't be able to die, especially if he's got 400 hp.  However if you shoot him in the kidney (critical) then it makes sense.


I think the rule whatever it is, needs to change.  % doesn't work cause of low levels, or people with a ton of hp.

It was a storyline question.  I know tinkers aren't exactly liked everywhere.  I didn't realize at the time there where tinkers, and plateau gnomes.  Different in race.
