Do you stay at the site, or return to Grimhold?
The four horsemen have returned, Christopher is the leader.
-
Do you still want the other digging machines to be sent out?
-
The rain has stopped, but the field is still a muddy mess.
Nothing you have seen so far has any value. Bone, metal, and stone pieces are everything you have found, and nothing is intact.
-

We probably don't need them at this point, but I would like to use the digger we do have to excavate the entire area. We may find remains of those who suffered at the hands of the Skull Lord. I'd like to give them a proper burial and inform their relatives if any still live. We can use whatever treasure we find, if any, to fund the funeral services and possibly have a monument built or garden planted to honor the dead.

How are you going to power the digger?

I believe Harrick mentioned he could create a couple skeletons to crank the engine. Either that or we put Harris to work again. ;)

I could.. but they wouldn't be around long and aren't going to be nearly as entertaining as Harris complaining the whole time.

Fair enough. Unless Harris is willing to do it, I suppose we'll either need those additional diggers or a loaner engine for the one we have.
-
I haven't shot a flaming arrow so they should come back with a powered digger.
You would do well to recall, I've already told you more than once that I've done multiple stints in prison; so when I talk about doing unpleasant things with the handle of my great hammer . . .

"I couldn't live with myself if I was beaten by technology and the undead at the same time. I can handle this!"
I'll cast treasurescent (8 hrs), detect magic, rapid burrowing (80 min), change into a dire badger, and scour the area. Can maintain badger shape for 8 hrs, 30 ft burrow speed with rapid burrowing (which I'll cast multiple times).
Note that detect magic and treasurescent works through 3 ft of dirt. Those should help find any kind of mass grave, if the deceased were buried with their belongings.
-
What's the weather like today?
Also, in retrospect, did that storm yesterday seem natural? Know(nature)=7+17=24
-
Are there any trees or larger plants concealed in the illusion? After the excavation is complete, I try to find something other than grass.
Is there vegetation on the opposite side of the possessed ground?

Yes, it did seem natural.
It is overcast and a bit cooler than normal.

There are no larger plants nearby (within sight of the field).
There is vegetation all around the field, just not in it.
How far do you go to find something other than flowers, grass, and weeds.

To be clear, you are searching not excavating, correct?

Correct.

I'll cast "summon dire hawk" (lasts 8 min) and go up for an aerial view. Without the rain I should be able to see farther than yesterday.

The dire hawk sees nothing but broken, barren land with little vegetation.
-
Correct.
Your treasurescent comes up with little. The remains and anything that that died had on them have been scavenged and scattered.

Finn rides it up. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Can I see the limits of the vegetation? Also looking for any larger plants or anything that stands out from the grass.

I use as much of the wild shape duration as necessary to do a thorough search of the whole area.

I should have picked up on that. The vegetation has no clear limits. You see a few bushes and scrubs, no large trees.
-
Harrick collects the bones of his chair in the slip cover that is now just a large upholstered bag. He squints up at the blimp.. hoping for a ride. Sweating profusely and with that sweaty fat man bouquet he slumps against the bag of bones and his stomach grumbles.
" Never realized how uncomfortable the plateau is.. Anyone ever notice this before? "
... So Hungry...

Meaning it continues on for as far as I can see? Wow. Any unusual landscape features?
I'll note the location of the bushes, fly around for as long as I can, then return to the group and report what I've seen.
"I'm going to head over to one of the bushes and see what I can learn from it. Anyone want to come with?"
-
Yes, it continues as far as you can see. But there is something odd about it, while the vegetation exists there is something different that you can't quite put you finger on...
There are no usual features. The hills roll and the plains stretch out. No large hills or crevasses. No buildings. You do see a stream and lots of ponds (some temporary).
