Alternate Domain feat
« on: February 16, 2012, 12:20:57 PM »
Alternate Domain (Divine)

Although each deity has a selection of domains his clerics may have, you have found a reason to expand on the deity’s domains and expand the influence of the deity.

Prerequisite: Full access to a clerical domain; must be taken when access to the domain is first gained.

Benefit: You may select a domain not normally allowed by your deity and use it as one of your domains.

Special: The DM must be consulted and the new domain must fit the deity.  The domain must be one that already exists on Habololy.

Do all clerics gain proficiency in their power's favored weapon?

Is that a house rule or a WotC rule. Seems kind of powerful but not sure.

As we have sort of adopted this for Solaris and Ajax I wanted to throw this out there as a house rule:

When casting any domain spell that uses a material component with a cost in Gold Pieces the cleric may instead sacrifice experience points at the same rate used for the creation of magic items.

I think this is a good rule for both game and meta reasons. First It reflects the special nature of the domain spells relation to the deity's power/area of influence. Second it makes the Devotee, who only gets these spells but gets to cast them numerous times, more workable.

If you don't want to make this a feature for clerics I suggest we include it when we revise the Devotee

I am okay with making it a house rule for domain spells.  Thoughts?

Thoughts on the last question and also...

Should we list the possible alternate domain(s) that can be taken by a cleric with this feat?
