Constables of Icefia / Re: Cold Case

Vasili suggests.."Pee seems very safe and effective" but beyond that no.
Interesting suggestion. Effective and low cost, but not very efficient when dealing with large quantities of snow...plus I think there are laws against public urination.

Addressing your question Rob, how big of an area are you thinking? I think I may have magic to aid with small volumes of snow, but larger quantities would require powerful magic which I am not able to conjure.

Everything related to a case should be in a file. Other documents you might find in a file include: interviews, confessions, evidence logs, warrants and sketches.
I meant what other information is generally easily accessible to us that is not in the case file? Are there general criminal records where we could look for info on Falce? Tax records? You get the idea.

Besides case files, what other records are typically kept by the constabulatory?

Was Falce a resident of Icefia, or did he come in on the Black Gull? Or some other ship?
DM, any response to this question?

How are large sums of money usually transferred (legitimately) in Icefia? Coin, gems, transfer between bank accounts?

Subdual Unconscious / Re: What can you do when..

Isn't that only if the 2 values are exactly equal? If nonlethal damage is greater than your hit points, you go unconscious.

Here's what the SRD says:

"When your nonlethal damage equals your current hit points, you’re staggered.

When your nonlethal damage exceeds your current hit points, you fall unconscious."

Was not aware that this was already discussed. Must've been a season I missed.

Have a question on the above referenced feat from Libris Mortis. Per the description, it states "any living creature that is dealt damage also gains a negative level". Pretty straight forward for a spell that only deals damage to 1 target for 1 round, like a single fell drain magic missle.

But what about a spell that targets one subject with multiple effects that deal damage? Like a fell drain magic missle that generates 3 missles all aimed at 1 target? Would that deal 3 negative levels?

How about if the spell deals damage over multiple rounds, like a fell drain acid arrow? Does each round the spell deals damage also deal a negative level, or is it only 1 on the first round?

I half-heartedly checked to see if there was any errata or faq on this, but found nothing. Can I get a house ruling?

Also, wasn't sure  how to start a new thread under "house rules" that didn't show up under the massive damage discussion, if anyone can enlighten me I'd appreciate it.

Here's what the PHB says under the profession skill:

"While a Craft skill represents ability in creating or making an item, a Profession skill represents an aptitude in a vocation requiring a broader range of less specific knowledge. To draw a modern analogy if an occupation is a service industry, it's probably a Profession skill. If it's in the manufacturing sector, it's probably a Craft skill."

Massive Damage / Re: Massive Damage

Using 50% of your remaining hp will make it pretty cumbersome. I think it should be 50% of your total hp.

So how about making it so a failed massive damage save causes you to drop to -1 hp instead of insta-death? At higher levels where you should easily be able to make a DC 15 Fort save, a 5% chance of going unconscious is much more palatable than a 5% chance of dying.
