Domain / Falan's Domains

Are currently Undeath, Repose, Magic, Innovation?

I think I suggested Necromancy from one of those Eberron books, but he's limited to only four right?

Undeath and Repose are really just 2 different views of one subject matter, and a cleric can't have both, so shouldn't it just count as one (Undeath/Repose)? Same can be said for Magic/Necromancy. Which would free up a spot for something martial (he is the Bladelord, afterall).

White Necromancer / So what exactly is white necromancy?
« on: February 15, 2012, 10:58:03 PM »
Zunder brought up the lack of representation of white necromancy in Falan's portfolio. The disciple of falan is supposed to cover that, but I'm not so sure it does.

What is it we want white necromancy to do? Healing magic? What is it's relationship to the undead?

Guide to Tinker / New clickers

Chop Saw
A chop saw is a 2-handed power tool developed by tinkers originally for demolished scrapped clickers. The standard chop saw sized for a medium creature has a motor driven 8” circular blade mounted to a portable, hand-held housing. Crank and spring engines cannot generate the sustained speeds required for this clicker and are therefore never used for this application.

A chop saw, though intimidating to be confronted with, is not ideal for use as a melee weapon due to its awkward weight distribution, and is further complicated by the fact that the rotating saw blade is intended to be used to apply steady pressure to make a cut as opposed to being swung in combat. As such, the chop saw is considered an improvised weapon for the purposes of attack rolls when used in melee. A standard chop saw sized for a medium creature deals 3d6 points of damage (x4 critical) to the target on a successful attack. No bonus is gained to damage dealt from a high strength score, nor can the wielder apply feats that increase damage (such as Power Attack) to the chop saw.

The chop saw is much more effective against stationary objects where it can be used as designed. By spending a full round action to cut through an unattended object (no attack roll required), the chop saw is treated as having dealt a coup de grace to the object, automatically dealing critical damage. An object’s hardness applies as normal to the damage dealt.

A basic steel chop saw blade must be replaced after dealing damage on 50 separate instances. Once this limit is reached, the chop saw deals minimum damage (3 points of damage for a medium creature) and cannot confirm a critical hit. A DC 15 craft (clicker or any other metalworking) check must be made to construct a replacement steel chop saw blade, and cost 5 gc each.

Type: Clicker

Energy Requirements: 1 minembolt/round of operation.

Modifications: The craft DC increases by 2 for every size category greater than medium, and increases by 4 for every size category smaller than medium. The most common modification for a chop saw is using an alternative material of construction for the blade, such as adamantine, for bypassing an object’s hardness. This has no effect on the crfat DC of the chop saw or its replacement blades.

Design Type: Mechanics

Guide to Tinker / Tinker Feats
« on: November 03, 2011, 11:10:04 PM »
There's a feat in Races of the Dragon called "Extraordinary Trapsmith" (http://www.realmshelps.net/cgi-bin/featbox.pl?feat=Extraordinary_Trapsmith) that reduces the cost and time required to craft traps by 25% (or 50% for kobolds). I think we can adapt this feat for tinkers:

Design-Build Expert
You can save time and money constructing a clicker by overlapping it's design and crafting phases.
Prereq: Craft(clicker) 5, Knowledge(any tinker design category) 5
Benefit: When you determine the cost and the time required to create a clicker using one of your own designs, reduce the base price by 25%.  Because some decisions are omitted from the design and instead made on the fly during construction, the optimum design cannot always be achieved; the DC of tinkering checks made to operate a clicker made in such a way is increased by 2.
Special: A tinker gnome who selects this feat can instead reduce the base price by 50% for determining raw materials and time required to create a clicker.

Magic of Habololy / Fell Drain
« on: September 05, 2011, 03:37:30 PM »
Have a question on the above referenced feat from Libris Mortis. Per the description, it states "any living creature that is dealt damage also gains a negative level". Pretty straight forward for a spell that only deals damage to 1 target for 1 round, like a single fell drain magic missle.

But what about a spell that targets one subject with multiple effects that deal damage? Like a fell drain magic missle that generates 3 missles all aimed at 1 target? Would that deal 3 negative levels?

How about if the spell deals damage over multiple rounds, like a fell drain acid arrow? Does each round the spell deals damage also deal a negative level, or is it only 1 on the first round?

I half-heartedly checked to see if there was any errata or faq on this, but found nothing. Can I get a house ruling?

Also, wasn't sure  how to start a new thread under "house rules" that didn't show up under the massive damage discussion, if anyone can enlighten me I'd appreciate it.
