Correction to an in game statement, this is set 4 months after the last events on at Grimhold; 6 months after the Viligant Seas was taken; and six months after the battle under Gnomsicherg.

Nothing yet, but when they're within 30 seconds or so from reaching us, I'll cast Mighty Wallop and Enlarge Person on myself.  That is unless, of course, Haas or Ajax have something more powerful they'd like to cast on the group before we begin.  I won't activate my Mighty Strength or Domain ability until right before we're engaged in combat.

Refresher on names, I got one wrong last night:

Karim is the fire giant ambassador who delivers messages to Balinhost and came to warn you of the hell hounds.

Nabil is the current sultan and followers of Tyrogatore.

Hafir is the last sultan and currently looking to take back the throne.

Gerton Hep is the hobgoblin tyradin Tyrantmaker.

Issam Gutur is the fire giant general (not mentioned last night) who is/was in command of the outpost in the forest.

Darvin Collingson is the high cleric of Han~Sui who sent Haas the letter about scrying and also blessed the crusade in the name of Han~Sui.  He is not in the forest.

Jeevone Deluke is the highest ranking cleric of Tyrogatore in the Destroytian Republic.  He is with the crusade.  While he can only cast moderately powerful spells, he is as skilled a monk as you find among clerics.  He is a human near 60 and he is body shows the signs of having lived a harsh life.

Lukevar Madraker is a destroytian warrior, once of their army and a competitor in the last Suian.  He is said to be Martin's equal at least.  He is with the crusade.

Aion Veyro is his squire.

Albersi Leera is the Nipit do-gooder who arrived with information about Baenrl.

Marco is his bodyguard.

Jacoob Lexitar is the high cleric of Han~Sui from Jaswap and a notable Templar who is with the crusade.

Caert Fortesur is an orcish warrior from a noble family in Yellowia with the crusade and in awe of Ajax and Vor'Ruk.

Brennan Steelblade is another Yellowian noble with the crusade.

Joven is a young follower of Stasis that is clearly not of noble birth.

  • Chained Enlarge Person - will help with reach against the huge giants and hell hounds, up to 20 people, lasts 20 min
  • Chained Greater Magic Weapon - up to 20 weapons become +5 (including unarmed), lasts 20 hrs
  • Mass Resist Energy - fire resistance 30, up to 20 creatures, 200 min
  • Mass Conviction - everyone in  20 ft radius gets a +5 morale bonus to saves for 200 min
  • Mass Bull’s Strength - +4 enhancement bonus to strength, up to 20 creatures for 20 min
I’ll post more as I think of them.

Grant suggests that we direct the Gnolls to focus on the Black Hawks first, since they will have the easiest time attacking them.  The rest of us can mop up whatever Ajax doesn't kill with whatever he is about to unleash.

Grant will prepare the spells listed below 3-5 minutes prior to the arrival of the bad fire giants.  When he is all spelled up, he will take a hidden position in the trees 40' in front of where Ajax positions himself on the road to face the horde of Hell Hounds and will wait patiently

Father Haas I would be happy to accept spells.  However you reputation proceeds you and I know that you are not fond arcane magic user.  Just to let you know i am a fighter mage and use magic to enhance my combat skills and to cast through my weapons to injure opponents.

Thank you for your honesty. But you are mistaken. It is arcane magic itself I am not fond of. I have no prejudices against the users of it, until they do something to earn my distrust. All types of magic, divine and arcane, can be a world altering force. Divine magic operates under the guidance of higher powers, beings beyond our understanding that judge and regulate our use of that magic. Arcane magic operates without oversight, capable of being abused at the whims of mortals. It is a dangerous power, one that the world can do without.

The gnolls can benefit from these spells as well if there are any targets leftover after applying to the strike force.

Archers probably wouldn’t want enlarge. But I’ll make sure to hit at least one bundle of 50 gnoll arrows as one of the targets for greater magic weapon. Some +5 arrows should help them out.

1. Can they scout ahead and give us a 2 min warning when the horde approaches?
2. How long ago did the giant women and children pass here?
3. Can they send a party to escort the refuges back to the giant fortress?
4. Can they gather up 2 spiders or 3 centipedes from the forest for me? I’ve always wanted to use the “giant vermin” spell. 2 colossal spiders should help here, right?

Nothing on my side will keep them from functioning.

Note that the experience is strenuous, and when complete you feel like it’s the day after a pretty intense workout. Every beneficial blessing from Haas forces a fort save, success means you deal with the discomfort, failure means you are sore for 1 minute and suffer some minor penalties that aren’t relevant right now since they go away before any encounter will occur.

I assume Ajax can fill us in on what we know about hell hounds? Fire breathing, any immunities or vulnerabilities (fire and cold?), are they intelligent enough to reason or must they be commanded, can they be banished, will protection from evil keep them at bay?
