So, I realize it's silly, but I was just thinking about what spells I would choose to have in real life.  I was outside in the heat and thought it would be nice to have Endure Elements right about now.  I'm curious what spells all of you would choose. 

The rules are simple; you can choose any spell from any spell list at any level.  For example, you could have Hindsight be your 9th level slot or 6th since Bards and Wizards can select that spell at different levels.  You could cast each spell once per day, plus bonuses based on theoretical ability scores, with the exception of your cantrip.  This can be used at will like 5th edition rules.

Here's my list.

0 - Prestidigitation
1 - Endure Elements
2 - Make Whole
3 - Water Breathing
4 - Tongues
5 - Hidden Lodge
6 - Heal
7 - Greater Teleport
8 - Discern Location
9 - Miracle

Miracle can be used to recreate anything, so I think spell that recreate others should be excluded.

0 - Create Water
1 - Unseen Servant
2 - Knock
3 - Remove Disease
4 - Improved Invisibility
5 - Power Word Disable
6 - Probe Thoughts
7 - Elemental Body
8 - Planar Ally
9 - Teleportation Circle

This is more what I would do, cept
  - Overland Flight for Power Word Disable, ( Hunny.. I'll be right back with the Oregano.. just flying to the store )
  - Polymorph any Object for Planar Ally, ( Man.. I could really use a chair.. poof )
  - Alter Self for Knock ( Thanks Veronika - Man, wish I was taller to reach that bowl )

Elemental Body lets you fly with Air, that's why I don't have the fly spell in there.

Alter Self better than Knock, I agree.

PaO instead of PA tough choice.  The Planar Ally can have all manner of spells.  I think if summoning was removed from the options since that can give you access to all of the spells of the summoned creatures, PaO is the better choice.

I like:

0 - Prestidigitation (so incredibly useful I can’t not take it)
1 - Unseen Servant (I would never have to clean the gutters again)
2 - Read Thoughts (always handy to know what other people are thinking but not saying)
3 - Glibness (convince anyone of anything! “I was actually the first person to walk on the moon. ‘Neil Armstrong’ was just my call sign when I worked for NASA.”)
4 - Divination (accurately predicting the future could be useful)
5 - Major Creation or Overland Flight (I can’t decide)
6 - Heal (covers wounds, diseases, poisons)
7 - Greater Teleoprt (is a must)
8 - Polymorph Any Object (good addition, I never would have thought of this)
9 - Miracle (covers everything else)

Nope.  Anything goes since this is all just for fun, irrelevant to the real world, and has no bearing on our in-game experience.  I will, however, add the caveat that choosing Miracle, Wish, or Limited Wish only applies to spell duplication and not to actual world altering events.  Keep in mind that you can only cast each once per day, so the occasional instance you might need to use a Miracle for something other than what's on your list is okay.  Have fun with this and don't think too deeply into it.  :)

Here's what I would go with:

  • 0-Mending (Fix something in an instant)
  • 1-Unseen Servant (Never have to Mow the lawn again)
  • 2-Locate Object (I could find my kids phones every time they lose them)
  • 3-Suggestion (Getting my kids to actually clean their rooms or do their chores is worth not being able to fly)
  • 4-Neutralize Poison (Never fear poison ivy or mosquito bites again)
  • 5-Overland Flight or Telekinesis (Fly to stuff or make it fly to you)
  • 6-Heal (No more Covid)
  • 7-Control Weather (Want a snow day? Make it happen)
  • 8-Polymorph any Object
  • 9-Teleportation Circle (Instantly transport people and goods.  You would be Scrooge McDuck rich)
