Alrighty
Armed with the new knowledge the Admiral decided to collect the devices. Once a nice balance of three deities is now clouded and unbalanced as one of the gods was destroyed. The military collects the first couple easily, but the cleric of Gruweas resists, and there is some disagreement between the church and the state. The group of you help track down the devices, and are involved in many operations. You notice agents of the Secret Keepers involving themselves in the fight, and some of the knowledge quickly fading. Many operations take place.
However.. all that is pushed to the side when the treaty with Iott is signed, significant news in the entirety of the republic. Iott quickly establishes a embassy, and offers citizenship and the highest possible arcane education to all the significant ( and some not so significant) spell casters in the city if they are willing to serve in exchange. The acceptance rate is high. The check points at the bridges in the city become more controlled, as mages from Iott join in. Lines are longer, but control is greater. Eveything goes well and the two most powerful spell casting empires combine forces.
One day.. something changes. The general populace doesn't really know what, but the Elemental Academy in the city has a disaster. A massive fire elemental destroys most of the campus before it's dismissed. Several other mysterious magic maladies shake the city. The steady stream of Iottians out of the embassy stops, and many mages are pressed into service. The number of Iotians thins considerably, most having to leave by ship.
As the war becomes general news, even mages who didn't accept Iotts initial demands are pressed into service under the terms of the treaty. Most of the military is placed on active duty, with most ships out to sea. The tri-forts that protect the city from the high ground seem unusually quiet, as you don't see winged Gree circling anymore.
The flow of news out of the government is minimal. "The war of magical order has begun against chaotic forces" and mostly.. "Grean mages/ship/Marines help the supreme magical coalition defeat Icefean Fleet/Nomagrok Hoard/ Orcs Savages /Chaotic dissidents"
Over this timespan, in these chaotic times.. you gain 500xp per level.
The grey vests are pressed into service, stretched thin. Tasked with order in the city, as well as protecting things the military used to protect. General order is at an all time low. Crime is up, disorder is up
The Admiral is no longer in the city, but his assistant Lena still takes to meeting with you.
The law firm only takes on a light case load, as Nina is pressed into service very early, before the Academy is destroyed, and doesn't return.
