Title: Anti Collector Spell
Post by: Asinjin on February 08, 2013, 04:30:58 PM
So the wizards...err....6 or 7, discuss the details of a new spell to develop, like reciprocal gyre, but against items.  Thoughts?

The question is whether it's worth creating as so many magic items create a spell effect already. If the spell affected you just for having the item on your person it would be a killer. If it was like an improved RG that also included non-spell magic item effects, such as a ring of protection, that would also be pretty bad.

I was thinking it would only apply to non-spell-like magic effects.  Constant effects, like Ring of Protection, Armor +2, Broach of Shielding, etc.

If it is going to be higher level then the other spell then it should apply to any magic item you are "using".  I would define using as all items that take up a slot. (head, arm, neck etc.), bags of holding that are on your person, wands, staffs that are in your hand and magic weapons and armor.   Not items in your backpack or bag and not collective items like arrows.

I would think this would be pretty low level. My preference is for the RG +.

maybe we can make a few...

Arcane Whiplash....

 - the first can target a type.. like rings.. or bracers
 - the second one can target magic items in use of a particular type.. like "alteration"
 - the third can focus on how they where created .. Arcane wonderus items...
 - and the highest level would be all...

These spells wouldn't effect the item, just the user.  I would suggest we don't allow to many others use this spell.
