Much like Habololy, the days go from light all day to dark all day over the course of the year.  The year begins 30 days before the Day of Light.  On Habololy, the year begins with the day after the Darkest Day.

There are six months that roughly correspond to the seasons of the year, which are mostly the same world wide.

The months are named for the type of season that they correspond to.

There are two great seasons, the dry and the wet.  There are two lesser seasons, and there are two small seasons.

The year begins with the season of Beginning, in which the light begins to dominate the day and it lasts for 30 days.  It is one of the small seasons.  It is called Shudwat.

Next is the lesser season of Light, which encompasses the Day of Light mid way through and is 60 days long.  It is called Fakash.

Third is the wet season, which lasts for 90 days and is called Barsh.

Fourth is the season of winds.  It lasts for 30 days.  It is called Havow.

The dark season holds the Darkest Day at its middle.  It lasts for 60 days and is called Unteeda.

Last is the great dry season.  It is called Suka and it lasts for 90 days.

There is not standardized accounting of years.  Each tribe, race, nation, etc has its own system and most of them read like: 30 years since the burning of the mountain (or whatever significant event occurred).

The death of Inkara would have been a major event, so many places use that as their touchstone event.

Dex prefers to think of it as his ascension to stupendousness. At least that's what he makes the gree call it. Or they get a death ray to the face.
