Title: The Next Mission at Sea
Post by: Asinjin on December 16, 2015, 10:04:46 AM
As briefly mentioned at the end of last session, the leaders of the Port Talp corsair mission have a new task for a corsair ship: find the Riptide.  After hearing this, Captain Ispolis calls in the officers and asks what they think of such a mission.

Are Valdis and I starting a new ship?

You may have that discussion here, although it costs a lot of coin.  You could take this as your first mission.

Valdis is game, as long as we can get a fast ship and at least some experienced crew.  He will check with the other Corsairs to see if any other ships were captured and apply to captain one of them for the 3yr stint. Unless we can modify the Orca to be faster and sail-able in deep water for extended periods of time. or purchase one outright

Chase will sign on for this mission if the crew will have him.

The orca is not worth transforming.  Meaning that it would cost you more than just getting a new ship.

There have not been any other ships captured and brought back to Port Talp.

If no other options present themselves, Valdis will go back to the Pride to continue on with the crew and will vote to take on finding the Riptide

Prelate Lander agrees that going after the Riptide is a good mission for the ship.

Captain Ispolis says, "Regardless of mission, we need a new Ship's Mage."

With Valdis as the Captain, how much would be a new ship be?

Knowing that prices vary widely based on what you want, you are looking at 25,000 for a small ship of the speed you want.

That may be a bit out of our price range.  Do they have any certified used boats available?

Yes, the one that you just turned down, the Orca.

Captain Ispolis says, "Regardless of mission, we need a new Ship's Mage."

Valdis respectfully requests that during the next round of interviews, the Captain requests a demonstration of any applicants power before offering them a spot on the ship.  Also, Valdis suggests that we display the captured Red Viper flag when looking for new recruits.

You can display it, but not fly it.

If you are going to recover his ship (The RipTide) Gno would fund a better ship for this "talented group"

He's currently building a cruiser class ship to take on the Gem fleet.. he's tired of loosing ships to the pirates.  That's three in the last 5 years.  He's had enough.

Ship construction is at a premium due to the war.  No doubt Gno and his remaining ships are anxious to find the Riptide.

Because of the War, I can refit one of my Galleons with cannon.  Wouldn't be as fast, but it could hold quiet i bit of cannon.

Those of you who know each other have to vote on whether you want to remain on the Pride, or take up the offer of the owner of the Riptide, captain Gno, to take a refitted galleon.

They are very different ships.  The galley is bigger and more heavily armed, with more crew on and more crew needed.  You know what the Pride can do.

Rin would probably be bored on a larger craft. Veronika giggles something about more sails..

Chase would prefer a larger ship, but that being said, would rather remain with the same crew who already accepts him for who and what he is.

Ispolis begins interviews for the new crew members needed.  Those who notice (and it doesn't take much) realize that Rin is taking a large role in such interviews.

The main needed positions are a carpenter's mate, a ship's mage, and a gunner's mate.
