Gruweas (Lawful Evil)

The religion advocated strongly and allied with Kallark and Iott for a decade between 791 and 801.  The religion was almost inseparable from the Grean Republic in mission.

When Kallark transcended, the religion had a problem.  Cults were forbidden, but the interests of the Grean Republic lie with Iott and in turn, Kallark.  Things became more complex when long time ally quickly turned enemy when Sutyr left the Counsil.  The mental gymnastics the religious leaders had to do in the early 800s was mesmerizing.

The only solution was one that the religion did not like, decentralized decision based on nation and region.  Each temple had to decide what was in the best interest in their region.  It was a freedom that had rarely been given in the faith.

With the defeat of both Kallark and Sutyr, the religion called a counsel and within months before the Counsil Meeting of 816, declared a return to strict rules governing all temples.  They made recruitment of former faithful of both cults a top priority, as well as setting up missions in Iott.

The high cleric remains Petrik-Gar Chelthin, who lives in the Grean Republic.

Traveling to all the former strongholds of the dead cults, the human Teller Caulderon is a known evangelist, originally from Thalmeret.

Everentual (Neutral Neutral)

The religion suffered embarrassing defeats in the 780s.  Its tacit alliance with other faith to bring down the religions of Tyrogatore and Stasis failed.  Its inability to protect Hertoplowis from Iott when Lyla came to power were humiliating.  The severing of Falan, which brought the power of undeath into an open competition is theologically partially blamed on the judge of the soul, who is supposed to oversee such things.

After the assassination of high cleric Grant by Iott, the religion put forth Verten, called the Firm.  Unwavering, he survived twenty years, to his credit.  However, he lacked vision and charisma.  Simply holding on against the attacks of Iott were not enough.  Everentual hemorrhaged followers to Celetal, Tyrogatore, Kallark, Gruweas, and Han~Sui.

Because of this, Everentual was deemed worthy of demotion in 816 and made a demi-god.  His stronghold of followers in Hertoplowis diminished overnight and Verten was no longer Dayan of the nation.  Celetal took the reigns for the first time in 400 years.

Kyl Evenhand, a large human from Hertoplowis has been traveling the main continent for a decade seeking to improve Everentual's standing.  He seems to have foreseen the collapse and almost singlehandedly kept the deity in its old status by converting faithful outside of Hertoplowis.

This is a very gratifying outcome.

It does serve him right but I don't like one of the 3 judges being weaker.  I would like them all to be the same power level and working together.

Thanks Quan Yin.

Haha.  It is more about balance.  If the judge aren't balanced then I think that is bad for Habololy.  If I remember correctly they were balanced when I first starting playing in 2nd edition and that just seems better.

No, I've only had Harrick as a high cleric of a religion.

Though, in his own mind, Luigi is the high cleric of Melody.

Han~Sui (Lawful Neutral)

The religion of Han~Sui changed little during the reign of Iott.  It never lost focus on its role as defender and bringer of justice.  Because Iott, Kallark and Sutyr were all similarly aligned, those elements more often sought to win over and persuade the religion rather than battle it.  In places where Iott became the legitimate authority, it allied with Han~Sui.

Kallark and Sutyr, as cult and betrayer were prime targets for the faithful of Han~Sui pursuing cultists.  They had greater success against Sutyr and were responsible for ending his religion on the Destroytian peninsula, despite Iott's influence.

Darvin Collingson remained high cleric for the entirety of the time between the Counsil meetings of 791 and 816.  Now in his early 70s, he is highly respected in ever circle and believed to now be one of the most powerful high clerics in the world.  In the years when he would have retired or laid back, he fought against Sutyr.  In times when other high clerics dealt with internal strife or external threats, Darvin was able to focus on the tenants of the faith and expanding its influence.

Although young, Dar Nevarnius is a well known orcish Templar of Han~Sui.  He has became the figurehead for searching out Iottians and bringing the truth of their role to light.  Commissioned by Darvin to locate Iottian wizards responsible for war crimes, he travels the world with his band of Truthfinders.

This would be a fun campaign theme.

Gnarion (Neutral Good)

No other religion oversaw the accomplishment of a goal the way that Gnarion's did.  Perserverence during the reign of Iott lead to freedom for much of the world from Iott's control.  Sutyr, the centuries long nemesis of Gnarion was defeated.  The faith of Gnarion celebrated these accomplishments and declared a jubilee year after Sutyr's death.

Getting to that point was a challenge.  While under constant assault from many quarters, Sutyr's faith focused on Gnarion as much as any other deity, since the two were opposites in ever way.  Because of this, Gnarion was not able to lay claim to many more faithful despite the ultimate success of the tenants of the religion.

Gnellana Firstice remains high cleric and continues her focus on creating a functioning theocracy in Gnarland.  Some in the faith are tired of her lead and see her guidance as a reason the religion did not expand as it could have in the wake of the defeat of Sutyr and Iott and during the reign of Iott, which was a useful foil.

While not a cleric, Kven Wegofar is a now famous warrior and faithful member of the religion that was a leader in the final attack on Sutyr's mountain that once and for all dismissed the deity from Habololy.

Lightstalker (Lawful Neutral [good])

After centuries living on the edge of deity status, Lightstalker's faith all but died out on the Counsil meeting of 816.

The severing proved the beginning of the end for the deity.  A fair portion of his faith were turned off by the duel existence of Falan.  With the undead portion of Falan's cut away, those faithful were now able to move into a religion completely opposed to the undead.  Likewise, some of his faith were attracted to the organized and powerful religion of Kallark, whose influence once he became a full deity extended for the first time to the Great Plateau.

It was also the lack of undead as a threat that removed a primary tenant of the faith: destruction of the undead.  What became of the entity known as Lightstalker is unknown, but his shrines and temples are shuttered and no clerics of power remain.

While reading this entry, all I could hear was Windblade's cackling laughter and the ever so faint melody of "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang.
