The morning that you see the pirates ships (Duo-tio-Shelleshe) is the 8th day of the 10th month (Napay) of 787.

Captain Ispolis - What you learn about him in the week and day day you have known is so far is that he is energetic and easy going, for the captain of a ship.  You have yet to see him cast a spell or wear armor.  The only time you have seen him carrying a weapon is when the squid came near the ship, and he had a small rapier.  He always dresses nicely, although the clothing is not always the finest quality.  He often wears a bandanna.  He speaks several languages well (common, elven, and gnomish at least).  He is nimble and appears to be able to do all of the ship tasks at proficiently, but not expertly.  He speaks with Karven the Navigator and Lander the Prelate more than the others when not on duty.  They appear to have known each other for a while.  He spends time teaching the midshipemen, Chase and Kel, when nothing else pressing is happening.  Every night, he shares a bottle of wine with the officers and one lucky non-officer.

Ship Mage Eric - A young human from Port Talp, his accent is tricky for anyone not used to it.  He sounds like an untraveled Claude, and he is as young as Claude when he started.  He hair is a mop and whatever money he ever had was likely spent learning the magical arts and buying materials to practice it.  He talks of having older siblings and being left with few choices other than to learn magic.  He is forthcoming and friendly, and it worries most that he might be the most effective arcane caster on the ship.  His sailing skills are minimal, but he knows his way around the ship and understands the lingo.  He is of average height and thin, but neither clumsy nor weak.  He can operate a crossbow well enough.  He is most comfortable and spends most of his time with the other Talpans.  He is often looking to help out with basic ship activities even though he is not required.

Master's Mate Thermon - The hulking ship enforcer is either in his sling or walking near Sal the master at arms.  He will talk to anyone who approaches, but answers nothing about his past if asked.  He often just watches the sea from his sling, half asleep.  When called, he comes to help with any heavy task, although with Valdis able to do many of the same things and more able to get around, the need is lessened.  There has yet to have been an instance where his authority has been required.  He has little in the way of belongings, only two shirts that you have seen on board fit him.  He wears sandals, the only crewman you see with that footwear.  Tucked into the deck is both the massive spear and a huge axe.  If he were smaller, he would be a much greater help, and many think he is sad and bored staring into the water.

Some lesser crew members:

The only halfling is Eager, an able seaman.  He is as his name implies.  His does not like the cannon and works hard to make sure he is more needed above deck.

The two Gree are Ritvali and Rodian.  A Seaman and Able seaman respectively.  They are excellent crew and take orders well.  They get along with any of the crew that are serious about their jobs.  Mostly, they stick together, but they seem to take a liking to Run.

The only Vass is Nasisik.  He is but a seaman and while it is hard to tell, you think he is young for a lizardfolk.  He is tall and thin, you could even say lanky.  He swims well.  He too seems to take a liking to Rin; however he and the Gree don't talk at all to each other.

Veronika talks happily with anyone on board...  She mostly talks about fashion and how Talp is such a unique place for fashion with technology and arcane so widely used.  Today she wears tight fitting white cotton top and leather leggings.  She has furry lined heeled boots which makes her look much taller then her 5'6".   Over that she wares what we would describe as a pirates long coat with exaggerated lapels in greens and blacks.  Across the front seams are many gems which anyone with any skill can tell aren't real.  The right lapel has thin outline of what you think might be a very stylistic tree frog made out of those same gems.
She's too easy to talk to and you find yourself telling her things you wouldn't normally tell.  She sweet and helpful around the ship, proving to be nimble, have a great attention to detail, but definitely not a strong sailor.  Jobs she's given get done, sometimes be her, sometimes by a stumbling ship mate that offers their help.

She manages to convince some of the other crew to give her extra space to store her belongings, which are more numerous than most.

On another note, she does have more work than previously thought.  She is in charge of repairing clothing, which as the voyage gets longer becomes more work.

She puts herself in positions many times to force interactions with people to see how things go.. She does all clothing repair from the roof of the forecastle snuggled up in Thermond's hammock sling thing.  She'll read a book leaning against a cannon.. etc.  She's always dressed nice and somewhat provocatively when you run into her.  All clothing repair is done thematically.  If a Carpenter has a new sleeve attached to his shirt, the seam will be a classic dove tail joint re-created in thread.  If a gunner's mate has a threadbare knee, she attaches cannon ball styled knee patch.  While she isn't the most amazing seamstress you've ever seen, she's better then most and takes more time.  Everything you get back is in better shape then we she got it as well as cleaned and ironed.

The petite Rin is a quiet first mate.  She seems to lead instinctively, using her Wisdom more than any practice of the art of sailing or ability to read people.  She garners respect from her clarity of her chosen path and commitment to her goals and in general being a kind person.  She handles herself well in all situations.
She spends most free time in the water. She seems to be connected to the life in the ocean, which gives her comfort.  After a long shift you can see the desire in her face to get back in the water.  You often notice her sleeping on the back of Tsunami as she surfaces to breath.  She eats fish, but never red meats.  She can often be seen eating seaweeds in many different preparations.  Her favorite snack seems to be dried seaweed chips she makes by drying seaweed over the masts of the ship.
She straps her long spear to the main mast of the ship giving herself easy access to the large weapon, but is always seen with her Yumi bow and arrows on hand.  She wears the same Glistening kelp cloak, Penguin themed bracers, fish scale leather armor every day.  For those not used to Hororian physiology the tight fitting armor display of curves is the only hint that she’s not a young boy.  All her equipment is tightly strapped down and streamlined to let her swim freely without worry of losing anything.  Her quiver is unique, as a standard bucket style would be impossible to swim in.  She has a long strap made out of shark hide.  There are 100’s of snaps on it. She places an arrow between each set of snaps and rolls it into a coil.  As she pulls arrows from it the snaps open and give her one arrow at a time.  Pulling from the outside of the roll as the strap uncoils she is able to make it through the entire set of arrows very quickly.
She is happy to talk to anyone but very rarely volunteers any information.  She is often seen telling Veronika “NO” as she tries to dress her in something less practical.

The captain is quietly amused by all of your 'antics'.

Helmsman Cheenan - An ice gnome who had a stool built into the deck so he could be a more effective helmsman, he looks out of place because of his oddly burnt skin.  The usually pale white skin of an ice gnome has not taken well to the sea sun in his several years out at sea.  The tops of his ears and his nose are perpetually brown with what everyone assumes is burn.  His hair is thin, long and straggly.  He usually wears a dark blue beanie.  He is always clean shaven to the point where you are not sure if he can even grow facial hair.  He has sharp features arms and legs that are thicker than you would expect for his relatively lean torso.  Despite obvious obstacles, he is by all accounts an excellent helmsman and skilled enough sailor.  He talks in a funny accent but always in the expected sailor vernacular.  He talks to the look-outs, navigator, and the swimmers more than any others.  From the scuttlebutt on the ship, he is a worshiper of Frostine and he has some magic tricks up his sleeve.

Cannon Master Howey - A human Plateauian that is dedicated to cannon function and design.  He is thrilled to be on the ship and be able to see these long barreled, rifled cannon at work.  He is likely in his 20s and by all accounts has had spent a few years at sea.  He has short brown hair, doesn't account for appearance much, and often forgets a meal while working on the cannon.  He talks mostly to the gun crews and is happy there are eight so that he can move to the next one after one gets bored with his conversation.  No one is sure if he is a tinker or a crafter, as he has no other clickers but his in depth knowledge of cannon is such that he sounds like a tinker.

Master Mariner Isyawi - The consensus for best sailor on the Pride of the Rose, he is a middle ages Horarian.  Allegedly he has spent fifteen years at sea plying his trade as a sailor.  It is hard to argue as his rope skills and overall knowledge of sailing as well as his climbing and swimming make him the most well rounded crew member.  He prefers to speak Horarian, and therefore doesn't talk to most of the crew casually.  He does make it clear that his has no love to the Shelleshe and hopes for the success of the mission and the war.  His tanned skin and black hair show his many years at sea, and his worn hands and lined face show years of work.

Claude quickly tries to inventory the materials that he is responsible for on the ship.  During his off times he will speak with the various members of the crew.  He can be seen speaking Gnomish to the helmsman and fluent Horarian to Rin and the Master Mariner.

During this free time he tries to make sure that everyone has what they need...even if they don't know they need it yet.  He offers the usual items to help the crew see farther, hear better, cure hangovers, cleaning oils etc.

He also wants to take the time to speak with his old friend and new ship's Master Valdis.  He will proudly offer Valdis one of his latest potions.  He assures him that even though one just like it turned Rin into an Umber Hulk that the chances of that happening again are nearly impossible..he thinks.

Has there been any discussions on how the crew plans to handle an up close encounter.  Is Valdis responsible for designating any sort of boarding party or assigning duties when it comes to combat?
