A Tragic Victory
« on: January 31, 2014, 12:53:35 AM »
To start, xp:

For his excellent planning and preparation, Haas gets 1500.

For fighting trough strength loss that would have crippled any two warriors combined, Valizar gets 7000.

For killing the leader of the Fey and thwarting part of the Fey plan, Ash gets 7000.

For delivering another killing blow and permanently ending the scourge of the Mad Beast, Claude gets 8500

For delivering on a most impressive attack that will never likely be duplicated, Grant receives 8500

For being the first brave warrior to engage the beast and for staggering it later, Shadow receives 9000.

The Mad Beast shrinks a bit after it dies, much in the same way some of your shrink...exactly the same way Lennie shrunk.

You notice that it has a collar of steel, and arm bands of gold (a set of two on its middle limbs).  Later you find that it has gems embedded around its face, diamonds.  All of those are magical.

The Leprechaun has a wand and lots of clothing, as well as several pouches of coins (unopened as of yet).  His shillelagh disappears.

Hopefully there will be a statue made at the Fellos Estate for Bartlet and Lennie for giving their lives for the great good of the forest.

Not to be greedy, but I just want to make sure this reflects the fact that Valizar is only 13th level.

Valizar, in a rare display of respect, kneels before Lennie and Bartett's bodies.  "I will avenge your deaths.  Our enemies will fall beneath my fists.  They will taste the wrath of The Great Lizard."

Since I'm too weak to lift anything right now, I call over to Haas and Grant.  "Brothers, we must secure Bartlett's belt so these filthy Fey don't get their hands on it, then we must carry our Brothers somewhere safe until we can give them a proper burial."

He then struggles to stand back up.  "Can anyone restore my strength?  There are Gnolls that need to be taught the ways of Tyrogatore at the estate."

Grant moves Lenny and Bartletts bodies away from the butchering of the Mad Beast.  He brings branches over and assists Ash in making a basic sledge to carry them on (grant does the work, Ash tells him what to do). All of their items remain with the bodies.  When that is done, Grant goes over to the beast and pulls two black and green scales off of the creature and puts one on each of their hands.

he says a quick benediction over them (the actual prayer, not the spell) "Show these to Tyrogatore and boast of your mighty victories."

Reik returns after several minutes, someone can recount the story for him, as well as for Haas.

He reports that after he felt the beast pass by, he ascended and laid down the spikes.  For several rounds he heard no sounds, which he thought odd.  He made his way, and then suddenly heard the sounds of battle.  Getting closer, he did not approach close enough to see the beast, but sensed some Fey and began firing.  He did not find any bodies, but heard yells several times and found blood on the trees and ground.

Claude will help with the important parts of the creature.  He will also tell them he can evaluate all the items once they return to the estate.  He offers to put the smaller ones in his satchel.

The second flock of birds that arrived, which you believe to be the same flock a second time, did so about two hours after the battle.  By that point you have done everything and Haas has healed everyone as best he can.  (We will wait for Hero to let us know if he can restore Valizar and Ash).

They message they deliver is: "Congratulations on victory, return soon, siege continues, gnolls have arrived."

I can attempt to skin the beast.  We should probably do it sooner rather then later.

Ash is covered with a green blood and staggers about.

Those Fey are nasty little creatures.

You start to skin it, but nearly take your hand off with a lack of co-ordination.

Here is the story from Lennie's perspective:   Haas why big beast not make noise.  Lennie can't hear it.  Now Lennie can't see it (as mist is covering the area).  I go attack it anyway.  It big.  Lennie big.  I won't miss.  Lennie  Smash.   Beast Smash.  Lennie fall down.  Haas make lennie get back up.  Lennie smash.  Beast smash.  Lennie die.

Shadow's perspective:  The big beast rumbles into the area but is completely silently.  Very strange.  The power of Claude's banner keeps us from running.    However, the beast is too far away to attack from the protection of the banner.  Shadow knows that he has been greatly blessed by the Lizard King through Haas' spells.  He springs out and bravely attacks and although afraid he doesn't run away.  He hits the beast once and almost twice but blinks out before the second shot hits.  Barlett and Lennie are also attacking the beast.  Haas is praying and keeping people alive.   He summons a great elemental to get rid of the mist and attack the fey.  Grant is praying almost in a meditative state for several rounds.  The beast claws and bites Shadow and he knows that he must get out of its reach or be killed.  He hears Ash fighting a strange fey with an odd accent.   Shadow dashes out of the fight nimbly avoid the beast.  He goes after and strikes the strange Fey in the throat and knocks it to the ground.  He sees some of the others fighting off the Fey.  Shadow then tumbles back in to the fight as he sees Lennie is dead.  He hits the beast square in the head which staggers it.  Grant all of sudden unleashes the power of Tyragatore from where he is standing greatly hurting beast and breaking its legs.  Valizaar charges into to attack it.  Then everyone yells to Claude.  Kill the beast while it is weak.  Claude raises the Greymander stabbing the beast killing it.  The soul is then sucked into the sword never to return.

Nice dual recap, 25xp for Shadow.  I would be interested and awarding xp for recaps from other perspectives.
