Emitx was leading the way before the trap door, where was he on the stairs?

He was significantly ahead of Bandrig.  Probably at point blank range from the lich (Bandrig assumes the worst as this is the exact situation he said he would not participate in at the beginning and is clearly a direct violation of multiple passages from the DBCS)
