Title: Turn Undead abilities
Post by: Asinjin on December 01, 2022, 10:30:01 AM
As per our discussion, I have changed Melodi's Turn Undead into a Bardic Knowledge.

Nice - no other changes?
  - can use it as many turn attempts you have?
  - It uses + int modifier.    Maybe + Wis?

Number of times =  how many turn attempts yes.

I am open to Wis instead of Int...thoughts?

Maybe either/or?  Players choice; whatever is higher?

Doesn't affect Dylan - I believe his are the same :)  I just hate I have to wait till next season to use my new toy!
I don't believe Bardic Knowledge is powerful enough to break anything either way.

While very flavorful, I think its weaker that Turn Undead; so making it player's choice of Wis or Int....or even allowing you to combine Int and Wis would be fine.

Agreed that it's not broken, so how about both to make it unique for Melodi's Clerics?

Hmmm.  Good point about it being weaker than TU and the equivalent abilities some other deities have. Should we do something different?

Maybe the Knowledge Devotion feat https://dndtools.net/feats/complete-champion--57/knowledge-devotion--1727/ (https://dndtools.net/feats/complete-champion--57/knowledge-devotion--1727/) could be used as a basis for a thematic but more practical effect. Spend a TU attempt to gain a bonus to attack/damage against a creature by making an appropriate knowledge check.

Attacking really isn't thematic for a Melodi power.

That is really cool - could be applied to other things besides attack.  Feels almost more like Dourvan

Instead of attacks, what else could it apply to? Maybe saves against a particular creature type?

Or should we just keep the original bard-like knowledge ability?
