The note is written in common, in a heavy scrawl, on a torn sheet of parchment. It says: “Every night while you dream of glory I draw the world into shadow.”

After briefly inspecting the other two wagons, Vanyar says: “We are not taking these into the castle. There is a jousting field and stables not far to the East. I’ll retrieve draft horses and return.”

Each wagon contains roughly the same number of heads, approximately 300. They are mostly adult males. Some are cut cleanly but others appear torn or hewn off.

We should spend time giving them all proper services and then talking to the dead.

We should also travel to where they came from and check it out.  Benlin can Greater Scrye.

Vanyar brings back three pairs of draft horses and a driver for each team. The wagons are heavy dwarven ore haulers.  It takes half an hour to reach the jousting grounds. Vanyar takes the staff aside and admonishes them to tell no one of what they’ve seen. You are confident they will obey.
