Your cruise continues with a stop in the Yellowian port.

You will arrive in Newporton on the 29th day of the 11th month of 789.

Chase's dectection goes off and you are made aware of all of the ships.  There are 30 Yellowian military vessels; 11 merchant ships from other nations, 8 Yellowian merchant ships, too many to care and count riverboats.

The shipping lane you travel on is sparse during your week voyage.  By this time of year, all of the food has been shipped and its getting dark for most of the day (less than six hours of light a day during the trip).

As mentioned, Newporton is a population small city of only 40,000.  It is spread out over many miles of river in the Astarian Delta.

Your ship lays anchor and you are taken by row boat or barge to the city.

Samuel Mist is a cleric of Lakius and an Admiral in the Yellowian Navy.  He is stationed in Newporton, as you are told by the high cleric.

He is a human is his 50's.  It is known he can control weather.

I plan to go visit and tell him of my mission and wait.for.his response before taking the next steps on my mission.  Also do I know where he stands on the direction of Lakius' Faith.  I would imagine he is in then middle somewhere but does he lean in one direction.

Strangely, Taiji does not try to force himself on the away team in Newporton. He is pretty adamant about staying behind with the Guardian to assess and repair any damage done to her while she was aggressively moored for over a month.

Wignston helps Taiji for a bit.  I am sure nothing really affected the ship but he does go around mending with the spell anything small enough on the ship that needs minor repairs.  He has done this through out his time on the ship.

Conversly, the Vass and the fey all are looking to get off at the city.  Yellowia is far afield from any place else you have stopped; they are known to be nature / fey friendly, and they obviously have lots of Vass here...as well as Gatori.

Wignston does go into city as well.

Of the stops on the tour so far, Newporton is the least interesting to him.  It is small, has a low level of technology, is not very old, and does not have lots of magic (either divine or arcane).  Additionally, there aren't many gnomes and there is a lot of mud that goes above your knee.

Would it be odd if Chase and Grognoth went into town?  I don't want to cause a panic or arouse suspicion.  If nothing else, Chase will at least collect a stone or something from here, as he's done in every place we've ever been.

The Yellowians are not generally fond of drow, but it is also unlikely anyone would look too closely through a simple disguise.  A Frost Giant would be odd, but no one thinks the Yellowians would attack or arrest you.

No problem.  Chase will go as a Common Human and Grognoth will simply go and be peaceful.  He'll spread the good word of Stasis to anyone who'll listen.  If there's any type of festival or fair going on, he'll volunteer to perform feats of strength or put on a martial arts demonstration for the kids.

The Vass are happy to let you demonstrate how strong you are by dragging barges through mud by yourself.

As your ship comes into the delta area, you see where the many ships have laid anchor to unload.  As you approach, you are hailed by a military ship.  It does not surprise you, as Chase had alerted you to it and the many others in the region.  It is clearly a Yellowian ship; wooden, long and low and meant for speed.  It is the Blessed Waverider 2.  The hail tells you that a high ranking member of the Yellowian Navy would like to speak with the captain and officers before you go into the city.

Taiji goes to inspect the integrity of the cargo holds.

The ship pulls up to within 50 feet.  There is a line up of Yellowian sailors on the deck in a fair order.  At their center is a human in a blue and yellow cape (yellow on the inside).  He is wearing finely crafted sailors' military wear.  In his left chest is the blue background yellow sun insignia of the navy, where quadrants and points of the sun are filled in to indicate rank.  On his right chest of the blue background and white symbol of Lakius.  He is white hair, which is short but not military cut.  It blow in the wind as he waits for the ship to come to a stop.  He has a mustache and a stern look.

When the ship comes to a near stop, he steps off and walks on the water over to your ship.  Riding a wave to the deck he says, "Admiral Samuel Mist, cleric of Lakius, here to talk with the captain and officers of the Guardian of the Tides, including one Nathan Seatender."

Nathan is already on Deck so I can answer unless the captain or someone else should respond to him first.

Amare says, "Welcome aboard Admiral.  I am Captain Amare, at your service.  That you for the greeting and letting us dock outside you fine city."  He then motions for Nathan to speak.

"I head of your arrival from the high cleric and then sought out information about you and your ship before you arrived.  I would just like to confirm some of what I have heard first."  He crosses his arms and asks questions.  He asks in the manner of a commanding officer.

"How many times have you encountered the demonic tentacles and in which places?"

"Which cleric of Lakius have been killed?"

"Have any navies opposed you?"

"Which temples have you visited?"

We have encountered them 2 times and there was another instance that has happened at Phiam a few years back.

The cleric in Northut and the cleric in Phiam have been killed.  There were also some missing clerics in port springs.

We have not have any navies official oppose us.  Of course the hororian pirates don't like us.

I give him the list of temples and also explain what happened in the orcish empire.

"Very well.  I accept your answers.  As a fellow cleric of Lakius, I hope that your path leads the faith to a stronger destiny that the last high clerics have given.  As an admiral of the navy of Yellowia, I offer you safe harbor."

Thank you for your hospitality.  Based on what I told you,  do you think any of the temples in Yellowia might be at risk? Would you like me to inspect any temples with you or will you handle the temples on yellowian coast.  Also I have some seatenders that are eager to help the faith grow would any be of service to you?  Also do you know anything of Undrile that is our next stop.

"There are a number of shrines and temples of Lakius in Yellowia, but none rise to the size or the ones you've visited.  Most are small, town shrines where the cleric of Lakius would be known to all.  They would probably be to small for Dagon to consider.  I will keep checking, though, when I visit them.

I would be happy to keep a few of your trainees.  Yellowians will take to this new philosophy of Lakius better than most nations I think."

After a sigh, "Undrile has fallen into dark times.  When the Tyrogatorian judges lost control of the city some years back, forces of chaos and wildness took over.  We advise out ships to avoid it if possible, and not to stay long if they have to stop.  I fear the temple of Lakius that was there has not been heard from in years.  Salista Saam, the cleric of the temple, was turned to Tommimao after the fall of Tyrogatore.  The lesser clerics, if there were any, have not contacted me."

How about a Bardic Knowledge check regarding the Lizardfolk pirates?

They haven't been around a long time in the grand scheme of things.  They are lizardfolk only.  They are only well known and feared in a relatively small area.

Ssaskra knows more. “The Fensyn pirates are brutal and savage animals that thrive on bloodshed and greed. They are genocidal racists, fanatically devoted to purging the Scaleless from the seas of Habololy, but they are fortunately too few in number to make significant progress on that goal. Their tactics are those of pack hunters, attacking weaker prey in swarms, vicious and merciless. At one time, they were also my brothers and sisters.”
