When we pick up next week, it will be the 10th day of the 10th month of 788.

The day has finally stopped.

The mayor estimates that about a tenth of the city nearest you is clear of significant delusion.  The next mission is to clear the lake on the other side of the city.

There is a wand that you picked up from the sprite that radiates Conjuration minor.

There are no casters that can and will cast identify, although there are some that are willing to try and use it to find out what it does.

Also, you have the lightly clothed halfling that you still have to interrogate.  I will assume you did this before that attack that night, so no questions yet about the attack.

Getting this done before next week would be best.

Lady Veronia offers to send her owls when she hears the lake is your next objective.
I thought her owls were already positioned all over Owt.  I also recall Veronia saying her owls are immune to the charms.  Have they seen anything near the waterfall or the lake since the incursion took place?  Have they noticed anyone tampering with the water or casting spells near that area?

Can Haas Scry the area so that we don't have to be there in person?  Even better, can we drop a familiar item to the bottom of the lake and Scry down there?

They do fly all over, but she was asking if you wanted them to pay particular attention to the lake and search more closely.

No, but she only has them looking for obvious things out of place.  They aren't all that smart and have to cover a large area.  You appearing was obvious and out of place.

Yes, Haas could cast scry location (http://dnd.arkalseif.info/spells/complete-scoundrel--60/scry-location--903/index.html) and pick a stationary point at the lake to look around from. Would probably have to get pretty lucky to pick the right spot.

Alternatively, maybe one of Saladien's flying animals would volunteer to scout around with a chain of eyes (http://dnd.arkalseif.info/spells/spell-compendium--86/chain-of-eyes--4016/index.html) spell active? That way we could see the area for ourselves. And maybe we could do the same below the water.

So if I recall correctly, we were harassed by a faerie dragon during the fight against the shadow fey and dusk giants at Chaedsolas. Correct?

This is not difficult , so I will assume that one of the spellcasters dispels him.  His appearance does not change, and he now has not active spells.

Sure. I suggest we spend a day doing remote recon (scrying, animals) before we travel to the lake.

I would prefer to use one from Saladien's flock; I don't completely trust Owl Lady yet. Haas will cast "chain of eyes" on the scout.

He will also scry location on the waterfall.

He will also scry location on the waterfall.

You watch for twenty minutes and see no activity other than the standard water.  I assume you watch during what would be a busy time.  Your scrye does not get the entire lake.

I will assume you scrye and then cast the chain of eyes.  The bird that you cast it on flies around the lake, around noon and after when it would be crowded.

You see lots of activity around the lake, halflings mostly and a few others fishing and getting water.  Its a bit too cool for swimming or water play.

Currently, you are sleeping in a camp you made outside of the building where the city leaders were staying.  You block the road.  There are no buildings around capable to keeping all of you, as Valizar, the orcs, and the gnolls are all bigger than almost all inhabitants of Owt.

I assumed you were okay with it, thank you for confirming.

During your day long viewing using the Chain of Eyes, you see many things.  I will assume you ask the city leaders if these are normal, and filtering out what turns out to be normal activity, what you are left with is what I will list.

- There are halflings paroling the lake.  They stop anyone who approaches the lake and talk with them before the proceed.  On multiple occasions, you observe a halfling cast a spell on those that approach.

- There is a group of heavily armed elves that circle the lake around 4 in the afternoon.  Five in total, they are not recognized by any of the city leaders.

I don't believe the Chain of Eyes allows any spell that could determine that to be cast through it.

Are they there the entire time we're watching (up to 20 hrs)?

What does the halfling patrol do when they encounter the elves?

They are thoroughly armed, but you would not describe them as heavily armed (being an orc).  Armor, bows, swords.  They are clearly northern elves by the completion and equipment.  They walk and move with precision.

Since you decided to spend a day scouting and casting, we will pick up the night of the 10th/ morning of the 11th of the 10th month.

You left Balinhost on the 3rd day of the 10th month.  So its a week into the time it will take the gnolls to arrive.
