Title: Rogues
Post by: Asinjin on September 05, 2014, 08:26:57 AM
In the PHB, there are three types of rogues to choose from: Thief, Assassin, and Arcane Trickster.  I am removing Arcane Trickster as an option.

What are some that you think should be added?

Fence, Spy/Diplomat, Swashbuckler/pirate, Conartist

I think two are enough.   Swashbucker, Assassin, and Pirate are all just variations on a fighting rouge.  Fence, Spy, Diplomats, Thief are all variations of a rouge not specialized fighting.

No Investigator?  Rogue on the side of the law.

I think I will really like to see the fence or the investigator.  I think there a different enough from the other 2 to make another path.  Although I think I would rather see the fence path the investigator is probably the better choice.  There is tradition on habololy based on the investigator and the abilities could be different enough so it would not just be another non fight rogue.

Both the thief and the assassin have combat abilities (2 of 5 for the thief and also 2 of 5 for the assassin), in addition to the abilities they share.

This conversation may play into a larger one about where to we fit and non-combat, proficiency heavy character?

In 3rd we had the Noble and the Crafter classes, as well as Bard and Rogue options to do that.

For now, I will leave it to Hero who is playing the Rogue.  If he wants to play one of the existing ones, then I will not develop another path.

We're only playing 4 sessions up to 4th level with no chance of using these guys again? I'll make due with the printed material.
