After the battle the cleric heals you to the best of her abilities. Captain Krieek and a group of clearly terrified sailors arrive with makeshift weapons. He tells you that your departure can be delayed until the next high tide but another full day would be risky as the season is changing and by the time you are able to reach the Sea of Jewels (not the Emerald Sea as I was calling it last night) the weather could be against you.

All you have to do on the boards is decide if you are capturing and interrogating the giant or letting him succumb to his wounds.

Godric is reasonable and will allow questioning before dispatching the evil giant.

Capture and question.  We use his chain to bind him.

“Thank you, my friends, for standing by my side. I am honored and humbled that you would risk your lives for me in a fight that wasn’t yours. I owe you all a debt of gratitude.

I agree with conducting an interrogation. I’m curious to know how this piece of soot located me.”

Might have to put aside your inner Valizar, for while anti-fire giantism is rampant in Icefia, killing a defenseless, sentient (non undead/fiend etc) being would definitely get you a paladin strike.

Capture and question.  We use his chain to bind him.

The chain is long enough to bind his hands or feet but not both. It’s not flexible enough to hog tie him either. It stops flaming after laying on the ground for a few (18) seconds.

Could Krieek lend us some rope so we can pin the giant down like in Gulliver’s Travels?

Metamagic question: if I use the searing flame metamagic feat on a spell that sets things on fire (like ray of flame), does the resulting secondary fire also bypass fire resistance?

Yes on Q1. They hustle off and bring back stout nets and belaying pins to use as pegs.

I defer on Q2 to the uber DM.

Can we drag him to the water and sit him waist deep.  Bet he can't swim.

Bummer. I wanted to make an interrogation torch.

Uther casts detect magic and strips any items from the giant.

The flaming chain is magical and evil. When you strip him you find his boots, belt and a ring are magical. His muscles shrink a bit when you take the belt off.

As most if not all of you have seen fire giants, at least at a distance, you now get the impression he is very young, possibly an adolescent.

Dibs on the belt.

I'll activate my Frightful Presence ability once he regains consciousness and before we interrogate him.

The boots and ring will be put aside, I can identify them when we get a moment. The chain will be dumped overboard once we get out to sea.

What was the giant’s name when he was introduced? I’d like to bardic knowledge that to see if I recognize it.

You are sure this giant has not earned such a title.

How did the Mephits dissappear?

How did the Mephits dissappear?

As summoned creatures would.

Using the “enlighten” documentary bard ability, bardic knowledge check is 17+10=27. Does Uther recognize the name?

I can also do know(planes) or know(nobility) if either of those are more appropriate.

The name doesn’t mean anything to you, but the ring has a crest. The Hulgove clan, who are among those that occupied Mount Oneash. They are fire giant nobility.

Uther clenches his jaw in anger. “I recognize this crest. This one’s kin were among those giants that invaded my home to torture and murder thousands of my clansmen, including members of my family. I will have vengeance.”

Seems he got what he deserved then.

Dylan spends time contemplating the whetstone.  Hoping, maybe for some divine inspiration.
