1000gc to reincarnate Kraig?

Here is the Lakius list:

Lakius
Roll   Result
≤ 01   Sahaugin
02 – 03   Wugs
04 – 07   Gatori
08 – 10   Dwarf, Frozensky
11 – 13   Elf, Jungle
14 – 15   Barbarian
16 – 17   Vass
18 – 25   Sakor’akai
26 – 32   Elf, Northern
33 – 39   Gree
40 – 49   Horarian
50 – 55   Islander
56 – 67   Elf, Aquatic
68 – 72   Triton
73 – 74   Genasi (air or water)
75 – 104   Human
105 – 119   Giant, Cloud
120+   Character’s Choice

Based on your knowledge of the Seaman torn apart; he would receive a +5 to the roll.

Kraig is a human of average build who was born in Icefia, but spent most of his growing year in Edgunt before moving to Port Talp when he was 17 or so.  He had several sailor type jobs before earning a spot on your ship.  His skill in mediocre, but he is a 4th level Seaman and you don't find many of those.  He is in his late twenties and while nothing stands out about him, he has always been a solid crew member.  He has a wife, but no children yet.  He supports his older mother.  He has been heard to say he felt lucky to get the last windfall and was hoping for one more.  He un-enthusiastically attends the Lakius' services.

As described in an earlier season, with three powerful clerics on board (and previously Habastly was represented as well), and all of the amazing things the ships have done, almost every crew member attends a religious service.

Recap for Valdis worth xp.
The officers decided to press charges against the Ice Gnome in order to have their detectives and spellcasters try to figure out what his deal was.  They ultimately concluded that he was a little nuts, but not being dishonest, and that he has no traceable history.  In other words, he poofed into existence when Claude made his wish.  No big surprise there, but who knows what's yet to come regarding the aftermath.  We decided to take him with us and keep him in the brig for the time being.

We then set sail for the eel folk.  We traveled several days and outside the border patrol of Icefian protection into eel folk territory.  At one point in our travels, Rin and Tsu noticed a group of dolphins fleeing from some sort of creepy aquatic predator.  Rin dove in to find out what was going on and headed out away from the ship to confront the predators.  Around that time, during a routine shift, the alarm suddenly sparked to life from the crow's nest as screams and commands came shouting down for a quick call to arms.

To everyone's horror, there appeared a huge octopus-like demon and several of its minions.  The creature demanded we hand over Rin for "taking away its toy and ruining its amusement."  We quickly figured out this was the demon that trapped the Whaletar's soul and was tormenting it.  Soon after appearing on the ship, the minions attacked those with the most magic aura's, so Kasai was hit hard and nearly killed.  The others on the ship tried to do their best, but didn't stand a chance in hand to hand combat.

The other officers and crew that were below deck were roused into action and soon got themselves prepared for battle.  The first, of course, was Nathan who was aided by the Crown of Air.  In his speed, he quickly flew out above the ship and was transformed into a freakishly enhanced polar bear ready to pounce.

The fight was going poorly for the low level crew on deck, but fortunately, the navigator was able to activate the protection bubble and keep himself safe.

The head demon was beginning to monologue and grabbed Kraig (one of the Able Seamen) to make an example of him.  He tore him in two and tossed him overboard.  Before he could utter another threat or attack anyone else, Rin popped up from the ocean and shot it several times.  It gathered its strength and prepared to unleash hell on her when Nathan lunged forth from the air at lightning speed and charged the creature.  Its arrogance soon shifted to terror as Nathan roared past its defenses and mauled him with everything he had.  The impact was thunderous and all we saw was ripples of fat and loose skin shaking violently.  Nathan clawed, bit, and tore at its flesh, carving holes in its innards and pulling its droopy head around its body and shoving it straight up its own ass.  The final maneuver was a horrific rend that literally exploded the demon into hundreds of pieces.  Nathan stood victorious, covered in acidic ooze and gore.

The minions realized their master was obliterated and fled the scene.  Those who could pursue chased them down and continued the fight, rallied by the glorious defeat at Nathan's hands.  Rin first went to the crow's nest, used the spyglass as a sniper scope, and shot a demon out of the sky.  She then dove into the ocean and unleashed an Arrow Storm on several demons fleeing, causing mass damage and banishing a few in the process.  We stopped after the battle.

Should we do this or simply bury him at sea?  I don't mind either way, but it should be majority rules among the officers.

Amare says, "We can't set the precedent of bringing back everyone that wants it.  One bad encounter and we are bankrupt.  This was an odd attack, not one that any crew would have signed up for; and it was brought on by the actions of an officer; not chance or part of our mission."

I agree that we can't do this every time we loose a crew member, regardless of the origin of attack or the circumstances surrounding the loss.  I guess we'll wait and see what everyone wants to do, Captain.

The captain would like an opinion from all of the other stakeholders in the ship.

Valdis chimes in, "Is there any way to communicate with his spirit?  Can we ask if he wants to come back?  Also, should the cost of bringing him back be counted, at least in part, as part of his wages or part of any treasure he receives as part of his share?  That, I think would stop others from throwing themselves into danger as they would be responsible for some or most of the cost of bringing them back."

Any more thoughts on reincarnating Kraig?

Nathan is going to Commune with Nature to find the exact location of the Ratsunagi, correct?

Other other information gathering plans?

I like the idea of contacting his spirit  Can anyone do that? Sas?  However, I don't want to open the can of worms that we will reincarnate everyone.  Even though we did it after the battle with Dark Seas.

Yes I will commune.

That is an excellent argument Sas. Unless there is an better argument then I will not reincarnate him.

Let me know what we find in the commune.

How many 5th level spells can you cast in a day?

The first commune reveals that within the radius (one mile per level) there is no odd presence.  However, you sense is that it is probably still north of you.

Agreed

Amare nods.  "It's decided then.  We will have a service for Kraig and I will read his last requests."

The captain keeps a short will written by all the crew that wishes to give him one.  Tradition is that if someone does not want to be brought back, they note it on the outside of the document, which is typically only one page, folded and wax sealed.  The captain had not yet opened it, because it did not have that note on the outside and he didn't want to open it if you brought Kraig back.

The wealthier crew members (such as the Kormiere relative) would have more elaborate wills at their home port and the note the captain has would say as much.
