After the gala ended, we questioned Gneon and Gnickel about the origins of the scroll. We found out some details regarding who designed it and where the creator may have been 150 years ago. Ayva and Vincent concocted a plan to interview the oldest living Tinker Gnome who was alive during that time. Vincent posed as "Peter Parker," a young author writing a book about technology for the local universities. He went with Gnickel as his tech advisor. The Gnome was more than happy to talk about the past and gave us some ideas on where to look as well as who the major players were back then. The twins did some recon with the clergy of The Oldest Orc. They found more details about the past and also some blueprint info. Between all of them, we were able to essentially triangulate the most probable location of the scroll.
During the 5 day long reconnaissance missions, Remy and Profit were in the shadows spotting for people following us. Remy noticed a shady human one day following "Peter" and Gnickel to the Gnome's place. He tipped off the group via our communication stones and that was enough to prevent a mugging. The human engaged us in combat and hit Gnickel with some sort of powder that made him vanish. Vincent sapped him nearly unconscious and Profit used his goggles of holding to freeze him in place, but not before Remy intimidated him into giving up the location of where his cronies were and where Gnickel was sent with the vanishing powder. Remy then knocked him out.
At this point, a huge crowd was forming outside the house where the assault took place and people were calling for constables. The group went in after Gnickel and Profit remained behind to loot the unconscious body. He found a bunch of powders, potions, and coin as well as a short sword.
The group heard commotion coming from the basement of the house, but there was a wall of force blocking the way. They tried hacking their way through the floorboards, but to no avail. Profit then entered the house and Remy asked him to throw a powder at him. Because that was the most interesting and reckless option, Profit obliged without question. Remy vanished and reappeared in the basement to find Gnickel pinned by a grappler who had him gagged and trying to force a vial of liquid down his throat. Fortunately, Gnickel had the good sense to hold his breath.
Remy engaged in combat, but noticed there were others down the basement with him. In the meantime, the rest of the group had Profit throw powder at them so they could be transported to the basement. Profit stayed upstairs. After a brief melee, the assailants escaped with more powder and Gnickel was set free. Eventually, the constables showed up and started investigating the scene. The group hacked through the floorboards from the basement and made a hole big enough to escape through. They yelled up the stairs and asked Profit for a distraction. Profit cast Disguise Self and used the ruse to look like a beat up human woman. He escaped through a side window and came around the other side of the house screaming "rape." The constables immediately turned their attention to the woman and followed her to where the scene of the crime was. Profit led the constables away from the house and into a massive crowd. Once clear, he turned back into a Kobald and slipped off into the shadows.
The group made their way back to the guild house and examined the stuff Profit took. That's where we left off. We're trying to plan our next move and also trying to figure out which guild attacked us.
