Recap:
The group laid low for roughly 5 weeks while the heat faded away from the Gneon job.  After that time passed, Esme summoned us all back to the guild house for another job.  This time it was to smuggle illegal cargo off a ship that was landing in port within the week.  The group agreed to the job since it seemed relatively low key and it paid almost 1000 GP for a few hours work.  We also agreed to let Gnickle join the guild and earn his keep.  His first official mission was to assist in this smuggling assignment.

We devised a plan to sneak onboard the ship, have the twins manifest a psionic portal, then hide the illegal cargo inside it while we covered the portal opening with crates and boxes to prevent the inspection crew from noticing.  The ruse worked, and once the inspection team left the ship, we simply walked the crates off the plank and into a rented wagon that Remy got.

We took the crates to a central meeting point at one of the twins' many houses.  Once there, we opened 3 of them of different sizes to see what was in them.  We found metal, sand, stone, and packing materials, but nothing too out of the ordinary.  We inspected the items and looked for hidden items, but nothing was found other than the knowledge that some of the weight seemed a little off for some of the material.  We packed everything back up and mended the crates to cover our tracks then delivered them all the destination points.

After we made the drops, Vincent and Ganshuk went to meet with our contact to collect the rest of our payment.  Vincent was asked to drink a truth serum, but refused.  Ganshuk ended up drinking it after examining it and seeing it was what it was supposed to be.  Our contact asked if we made the drop under the effects of a truth potion and proceeded to pay us after he was satisfied with our answer.  We all met up at the guild house after being paid and went our separate ways.

That next night, while sleeping in our private chambers, Natsu and Profit were attacked.  Profit received a devastating blow from a poisoned dagger that nearly killed him, but he had the wherewithal to scream like a little girl after the attack and wake up Natsu.  Natsu jumped into action and tried to subdue the assassin.  That diversion gave Profit time to activate one of his items and restore some HP.  The fight continued for several rounds with Natsu magically grappling the assailant and Profit hitting him with Rainbow Beams and attempting to magically hold him with his goggles.  The assassin proved too resilient to be held, but after taking enough damage, he retreated through a window and made a break for it.  Natsu healed Profit and we woke up Esme.

Once awake, Esme contacted the rest of the group with the sending stones and alerted them to the threat.  Sure enough, Remy and Ayva were attacked at Ayva's shop.  The assassin tried to kill Ayva outright, but was thwarted by Remy's intimidating presence.  He cowered in fear and pissed himself while Ayva set off an alarm and notified the authorities.  Eventually, he was taken into custody.

Once we established that all guild members were okay, we did a little research and word started to spread across the city that the assassins were Horarian and that their motives seemed to be a terror attack on all prominent business owners as retaliation for atrocities of war.  More than likely their egos were hurt due to the pasting they received along the fleet borderlines.  In any case, about 100 attacks were reported and they were successful in killing more than half of their targets.  They didn't go after major figureheads of industry, but instead they targeted people on the rise or people who recently expanded their businesses in Port Talp.  With Natsu's business on the rise and Ayva already making a name for herself, they were obvious choices on this hit list.  The biggest twist was that the attacks stemmed from the crates that were delivered throughout the city.  Somehow the assassins used the items as hiding places or portals.  After finding this out, we destroyed any evidence that may link us to the delivery of these crates.

We met after the attack and are now at a point where we need to figure out what our next steps are.  Do we root out the Horarians?  Do we continue about our business?  Do we look to open trade routes with the Iottians and expand our growing import/export business?  To be continued...

Nastu publicly announces that he will be starting a fund to help support the victim's families, and will be collecting donations (legitimately) for the cause.

To spread the word, I will contact the newspapers to see if they will donate add space to announce it. I also add the topic to the script of my hireling bard army.

I will also host a fund raising gala after an appropriate mourning period has passed.

Interesting suggestion. Nastu has been contemplating expanding his business and the Collector's presence into Iott based on a suggestion from the Marshall and her representative of Kallark. Apparently the Magikowners have no presence there.

If the Magicowner's aren't there, then we should make a move.  Seems like an untapped world of wealth and knowledge waiting to be exploited.

The official total is that 94 attacks were made and 49 were successful.  You learn later that many of the attacks were made with cursed blades that prevent resurrection or raise.

Istvan approaches the Drow guilds and suggests that allowing the Ninjas to carry out attacks on the city will hurt their corner of the market.  Someone should hunt down their contacts here and .. umm.. "close the connection".  If they need help tracking those down, to let him know.

How much time has passed between seasons?

During this down time, I think our organization should make a concerted effort to negotiate a deal with Gneon for us to be the exclusive importers of alumingnome into Port Talp. There will be a significant demand for the material here. We could make a lot of coin just on the markup for shipping, storage, and distribution.
