Might I suggest something a bit different? How about using a turn attempt to change someone's opinion/mood/aggression level one step closer to your side? For example, someone hostile toward the cleric would need to make a save (probably willpower). The DC could be based on Charisma and cleric levels such as the turning ability is. If that person fails, they would become neutral. Turn attempts could stack, so another successful attempt could turn the person friendly, then another to be completely on your side, etc. Feats could be taken (such as "Extra Turning") that could apply to the ability. Maybe call it "Persuasion" or something like that. Thoughts?
