Harrick mutters.. drawing those closer to him (low chr)..

" He will keep his word because it is treaty both will benefit from.  He gives you more land as long as you leave him alone. Falan left a vacuum when he dropped the undead, and many are going to try to fill that void.  Vestalion is the power of Fire and Undeath and he is not evil.  He observes the world much as Dedestroyt does.  He was created from evil but has ascended past that fundamental level.    What you should fear is the other truly evil powers that will try to take the undead.  "

Having heard Harrick, the mayor asks him to step out and they speak without him in the room, as Artemus suggested.

Falan left a vacuum when he dropped the undead, and many are going to try to fill that void...What you should fear is the other truly evil powers that will try to take the undead.
After Harrick leaves, Finn speaks: "What Harrick said is sadly true. The power of un-life, as deplorable as it is, will not simply fade away now that Falan has detached himself from it. Someone...something...will pick up that portfolio. If Vestalion is a likely candidate, best we be on good terms with It, even if only in the form of an uneasy truce. At least this way we can keep a close eye on It, and Its high cleric; and when the sun rises on a day when Vestalion becomes an unacceptable threat, we will act."

<scratches his greying dreadlocks in deep thought> "I was planning to set up a farm and shrine here in this territory we are settling. It is clear to me now what I must do. I will volunteer to watch over the lands bordering the fortress, so that Habastly's Light may be a beacon of life that drives back the shadow of Undeath."

Side note to the group: "We should try to reclaim the fallen clerics of Falan from the gorge surrounding the fortress so that they may be properly put to rest. Perhaps that could be something Harrick could arrange as a sign of good faith."

Jocoth's response, when it is his turn to speak, is, "There can be no arrangements with the unnatural.  Practically, it does us no good to bother him."

Having heard the responses, the Mayor says, "Thank you all for your time and input.  I will take your words into consideration as I speak with other gatherings in Grimhold."

The mayor spends the next several days meeting with different groups in Grimhold.  He meets with the tinkers, he spends a day meeting with the general population, and he meets with the sheriffs, deputies, and judges.

Before he is done meeting, three days pass and it is time for the trial of Gnorton.  All of you are called to testify.  Let me know if you plan on not testifying.

The other two crusaders are going to be tried as well, although the charges are different for each one.   Jon Darose, the human wizard that was casting the illegal spells is facing the most severe charges.

Gnorton's trial will be first.

Gnorton's trial is a big event.  There is buzz all over the city about it.  If it were not for the fact that most of the faithful of Falan were already nearby, there would be a huge influx of visitors.  The trial is held sooner than usual for one of its magnitude.  While the trials are usually held at the courthouse, this one is being held at Domain, the temple of Gruweas.  The temple and accommodate more visitors and is also a more secure location for a cleric of Falan.

The morning of the trial, the area around Domain is packed.  Estimates are the no less than 5,000 have gathered.  Street vendors are selling all manner of things.  In an attempt to promote his clicker, a local tinker named Herverd has set it up around Domain so that everyone can hear the goings on inside.  Those that have to testify or present at the trial officially take quite some time getting into the building.

The interior has been set up plainly and efficiently to accommodate the event.  The many tablets of law still adorn the walls.  The many pews are still in place.  At the front of the temple, the alter serves as the judge's bench.  To his right and left have been set up booth's for the defense and prosecution.  Grimhold's top lawyer, a human named Lars Aminwell is prosecuting.  He is nearly 40 and has been the chief prosecutor for three years.  He is fit and ordered in dress and style.  He has a bushy brown mustache and a suit to match it in color.  He is respected by most and has not taken a religious stance, visiting many temple over the years.

The defense counselor is a gnome from Highland named Gnemjay Bestuit.  He is a high priced, well dressed lawyer.  He has four gnome assistants with him.  He has slightly browned skin and is over 200 years old.  He wears an old fashioned suit, dating from his early days in style but newly made.  His face in long and his nose pointed.

Typically these trials would be done all at once, and it is odd to Marston in particular that they split the three defendants into different trials.

Security is tight in and around Domain.  Hundreds of crusaders arrive and it is only their recent exhausting crusade that likely prevents them from trying to forcibly taking Gnorton.

All deputies and sheriffs, constable and town watch are on notice that if the crusaders and other faithful of Falan take action that they are to be stopped with force.  There is worry that it could break into a full scale battle in the town since many faithful of Falan and possible others would revolt with the crusaders.

Even the airship isn't far and you suspect that Gneon would take part in putting down any uprising.  It is not anchored and floats not directly above Domain.

Are all three trials represented by the same legal teams on both defense and prosecution?

Is there any way for me to find out who's on the defense teams, or am I prevented from that since I'm required to testify?
