Title: There's a Item I'd Hope We See Nevermore
Post by: Asinjin on April 07, 2021, 11:58:49 PM
For a glorious return, xp (keep in mind a wide range of levels):

Laz - for an excellent plan that you didn't get to enact and seafaring knowledge - 1250xp

Zalthor - for the killing blow and not rage killing anyone else - 1500xp

Gnelson - for a succeful use of a number of clickers and a raven wet dream - 1750xp

Issac - one of the most successful bardic music uses we've seen - 1250xp

Wignston/Cloud - remembering who cloud was and thwarting Laz's plan - 1250xp (xp to Cloud is irrelevant, so I will allow you to give it all to Wignston if you prefer)

Wendy - for delivering on the narrative as needed - 1500xp

Finn - deadshot dealing the most damage - 1500xp

Do you take the spear with you on the ship?

The night sailing is uneventful, assume everyone rests enough.

Gnelson mumbles .. " I'm sure something like that can be tracked.  Unless someone has something to put that in where they can't find it I would leave it, but I'm sure someone might disagree with me."

Take it off shore and dump it. I’d say strap it to a sea turtle but it’s too big.

Captain Louane finds you all quarters, which isn't difficult since the left dock quickly and without some of the crew they would usually have.

Laz and Gnelson are quick to find tasks and take to the ship with no issue.

They sit Zalthor in a spot he can't do any damage.

Wignston has little trouble finding a task.

Wendy and Isaac are relegated to staying safe and keeping an eye on Cloud and the Raven.

I am not sure what Finn does.

W. G. Clickersmith (Wingnston Gnoah Clickersmith) aka Gnoah would curiously be asking questions of anyone and everyone who would speak with him.  However, after hearing the news of Melodi he is very somber and quiet throughout the night.

Cloud takes the time to rest and recover.  I assume my spell book is in my bag of holding.  Once I wake up in the morning I take the time to test my first spell and bring Nova (my familiar) back from the elemental plane of air.

Then Cloud explains his journey where he has been and what he knows.

"For many years I have taken the time to study and read the stars in the sky. This allows me to gain much knowledge about the state of Habololy and sometimes glimpses into the future. After doing this I knew I must travel up into the sky and leave Habololy to visit the stars and other worlds. I traveled to one of the worlds called Nubis. Nubis is a world made mostly of air and cloud. (Cloud goes on a short tangent about how wonderful Nubis is).  Anyway back to my story,  I traveled to this world to continue to learn as much as I can about the skies and the air and the stars and planets. (Cloud goes on a tangent to explain what planets are and how they travel around the suns and that Habololy is one of 9).

I spent many years on Nubis learning and gaining considerable knowledge.  During my times there I learned about the deities of Nubis.  Some of the deities of Habololy are known on this worlds Statis, Falan, Compture, Taivas Valtias  to name a few.  The world is also ruled by creatures who must not be named and storm and cloud giants.  During my time there I found out that Stronmous was planning an attack on Habololy. So using powerful magic, I traveled back to Habololy.  Unfortunately it is not possible to teleport between worlds so it was a long journey and now it appears that Stronmous, being a deity, had the means to arrive here more quickly then me and apparently he was able to start his siege of Habololy well ahead of my warning.  The last I thing I remember is arriving at Habololy and then everything went blank.  I then work up in the streets with shackles on.

Now that the Raven is here I must be one of his prime targets because he knows with the power of the Raven we can stop the awful events from ever happening."

The Captain is intrigued by your story and listens.  It becomes clear that she has little intent on doing any ship work, but she seems well enough liked and in command.

Emitz is equally intrigued.  As you list deities, you see him fidgeting with a chain full of holy symbols.

Do we use the minimum value for starting xp for our given level?

Agreed on the spear, we should dump it.

Finn has no useful ship based skills. He will help where he can out of courtesy, but tries to maintain a polite distance to avoid interfering with those who know what they’re doing. He spends his time trying to keep his ammo dry, learning about world news from the crew, and discussing backstory with his newly acquired colleagues.

Half way is fine.

Ask specific questions and I will answer.

What Counsel deities survived and who was destroyed? Looking to get a general consensus.

What’s known of the giant invaders?

Besides Ermaneo, what other safe places are left on Habololy?

Do the giants have known allies on Habololy? Known resistance?

How has the Plateau faired in the struggle?

How has the Plateau faired in the struggle?

Very little is known by the crew, as its not on the sea.  They think it was not a target and is probably faired well.

What’s known of the giant invaders?

There are all manner of giants, some of which have never been seen before.

They worship deities that were unknown.

They are lead by Stronmous.  The crew also says the following names they've heard: Sutyr, Thrim, Hightea, Grolantor, and Memnor.  They think there are others.

They don't know of anyone helping beforehand, but some have made deals.  It is assumed Iott has a treaty.

Nations and places that were more devout to the Counsil faired poorly; such as Icefia and Thalmeret.

They don't know of any that aren't safe only because they've already been attacked and left for dead.

But again, the crew has not been east of the Oddlands, inland, or to the String Mountain continent.

One of the crew is from Layraedia and left there on a ship three months ago to investigate.  At that time, Ekarude had not been visited by the giants.

Ones they believe are destroyed: Habastly, Tyrogatore, Gruweas, Han Sui, Stasis, Melodi, Gnarion, Everentual, Hemator, and Quan Yin.

Ones they know are around: Lakius, Dedestroyt, Lavash'Ki, Tommimao, The Oldest Orc, Compture.

The others there is no consensus.

Laz listens, concludes its delusional nonsense (see Asinjin’s views on time travel) and goes back to his tasks. If he sees Gnelson anywhere near the raven he ties him to the main mast facing the wind for a day.

So, I have questions, but Zalthor doesn't.  He couldn't care less about what's happening as long as he gets to drive his pick into more Storm Giant skull.

If I'm allowed to ask, here's my questions.  If not, please ignore the following:

1) Have the remaining deities banded together to form a new council and offer resistance to the Giant pantheon?

2) Do the remaining deities ascend to a higher status now that the others are gone?

3) Are any of the lesser deities that were recently promoted/discovered at the last council meeting still in existence (such as The Collector and Ritvalli)?

4) How has Ermaneo survived the invasion and what is the mysterious force that protects this city?

5) Do our characters actually remember the past as it was in the original timeline or do we have alternate memories?

6) Does anything strange happen to us when we leave Ermaneo or do we retain our memories and possessions without issue?

7) Does anyone mention the GoLK?  How does he factor into all this?  Has this crew visited the Lost Island?

8 - Are we currently sailing with anyone who claims to be a legendary dragon hunter who happens to have a similar sounding name as Claude Greymander?

Nothing like that has been heard of.

Both of those are assumed to still exist.

Out of the way, but assumption is that in time the giants will get everywhere.

Everything is the same in your memory up until the defeat of Sutyr.  Things really don't go askew until the Counsil meeting of 816 (about 6 months ago).  None of you are aware of any change.

But note, as per Laz and Zalthor, that your view on how it effects you and what is true is up to you.

Wendy is the exception.

Every place they visit has a resistance.  She rattles off a list of names that don't mean anything to you and seem to be regional individuals in the places the ship has visited.

Any notable technology onboard?  Seeing the Raven has inspired Gnelson to fix/upgrade something.

Captain!.. your canons need to be re-bored.. They are off tolerance.. this ship would never make it in Gnoble shipping!
Captain!..  your rudder is on the small side, and the stearing gears are slow.. I bet she handles like a hebablom.
Captain?!..  your hull is covered in barnacles.. that can really effect speed and maneuverability,  I'll start scraping them, do you have a Gno-man platform so I can do it while we are underway?

The crew has the least knowledge of cannon, seeing as how it was not a ship of war.  The Captain allows you to look at them first.
