Too late for story time, but here is experience:
Ari - 16,900
Ajax - 18,350
Solaris - 19,900
Marston - 18,300
Harrick - 18,300
Rubius - 1,000
-
That's a "tasty" bit of experience.
that best quote of the night " Demi-God pixie dust"

Solaris is now Epic.

To move back a moment...
After the destruction of Bakenrashu, most of you follow Joseph and Harrick's lead deeper into the temple, several rounds behind them. Likely you heal yourselves along the way, slowing your pursuit. Asinjin calls for Rubius to come back outside, where Astrek and he are.
While healing and finding and destroying the phylacteries is going on inside, a process which takes more than a minute; outside Rubius sees, and Asinjin relays what is going on there. A group of twelve individuals is standing off against an organizing mob of Hertoplowans. The twelve, who Gails reports did not all arrive together; consist of holy agents of Falan, Waywatchers, Bladelords, and Guardians. Asinjin and Rubius know none of them, nor does Gails.
Asinjin does not engage them, but watches defends and relays information. He spent two dozen spells buffing you all and with the spells he typically uses and the ones getting here and cast, he does not have a lot left to deal with a mob of humans. About the time Harrick is drinking the dust; the fighting begins. Asinjin reports that clerics of Han~Sui and Everentual are leading the militia, which has swelled to two hundred or more. Spells of all sorts are being laid down. Gails withdraws to a safe distance.
The twelve do a marvelous job of defending. They are most interested in making sure no one gets by them, which hinders their ability to win the battle. By the time you are about to exit, Asinjin informs you that escape is the only option. There can be no fighting this horde to a stalemate. Gails says hundreds are streaming in from all over the place with a religious fervor. Asinjin also says there must be powerful clerics in the horde because the area has been dimensionally locked.
When you get outside, three of the twelve defenders are missing, and they have been pushed back, crowding you at the entrance. The two figures among them that some of you immediately recognize are Eri Blackburn, the cleric of Falan who had been the most notable one in Hertoplowis and who Bakenrashu drove away; and Vollae Marshallheart, known as the Armor of Righteousness a knight of the Banished Hero, Waywatcher and Paladin of Hemator generally based in Pacyr.
When you exit the temple, Eri thinks to you all (he is a known Psion), ~They want use all arrested, there will be no convincing them otherwise. We cannot hold off the force that will be here within a minute~
There is not a lot of time for discussion, but I will give each a chance to post a thought.
-
Does Dimensional Anchor prevent Ajax from gating us out of here? If we all exit and make a mad dash for an area outside the temple, can we throw up a Gate, jump in, then quickly close it behind us?

Asinjin says, its a spell that covers the area and it prevents all dimensional travel. There is no where to go other than into the temple or through the crowd; or up if everyone could fly. His best thought it getting everyone into the air and than various teleports or just fly away; or possibly gate.

I'm not sure how long the spell lasts, but Marston had Fly cast on him right before we ended the fight. A few others did too, so if Asinjin and our other casters can get us air born between spells and potions, that idea might work.

Ajax's was dispelled, as was Solaris'. Yours is still active.
-
I imagine i'm resting peacefully, a little more full then when I got here.
-
Ajax's was dispelled, as was Solaris'. Yours is still active.
Solaris still has his fly up and my wings along with divine power is still activie.
-
Also of note, Harrick is conscious by the time you get outside.
-
Rubius can turn invisible then turn into a gaseous cloud to escape, but I'm pretty sure I'd have to re-materialize in order for Asinjin to teleport me. I could mist through a gate though.
Now we just need to get everyone else in the air.

Solaris is now Epic.
Welcome to the club!
That bumps Ari up to 22.
-
Could a strategically placed wall of force (or 2) give us enough wiggle room to clear the locked down area?
Navi can also do another mass fly. But it will take a lot of convincing to get Astrek to take his feet off the ground.
-
Were we able to locate the 2nd lich's phylactery and the vampire?
-
Were we able to locate the 2nd lich's phylactery and the vampire?
We got both phylactery's, but not the vampire.
-
Were we able to locate the 2nd lich's phylactery and the vampire?
The 2nd Phylactery was concealing the 1st, and they destroyed them both.
No luck on the vampire's coffin.

You could do that for you who have exited, but the wall of force can't be put in between the mob and the defenders.
-

Ari will track down the coffin using his detect evil and that clean up that loose end. I'm okay if everyone else leaves.

Have we ruled out retreating back into the temple and teleporting out behind closed doors?

Asinjin doesn't think that is possible.
-

Marston can't let Ari go alone in good conscience. I'll help hunt down the coffin.
-

Yeah it was a quick end so i feel like this was a bit overlooked. I don't think any of us would leave the temple until we tracked down the vamp coffin.
-

The reason you began to exit was because of Asinjin's warning to come out now. If you want to stay in and continue to search for the coffin, you could do that. Asinjin makes it clear what was noted in an earlier post that the forces of Heroplowis are only growing in number.
-
Ari uses his detect evil radar to find the vampire, if it is in range. OoBH enhanced detection ability let’s me recognize a spefic aura that I’ve encountered before (so I can filter out the rest of the mess) and pinpoint its location.
As long as Ari can get a bead on the vamp, I go after it. Pretty confident that between Astrek’s burrowing (assuming the coffin is underground) and Navi’s teleport, we can make it out before the mob makes it way through the lower levels of the Temple.

How long does it take to pinpoint that detection?

Instantaneous.

Instantaneous.
The coffin must not be in this temple, because you can detect the gaseous form of the vampire moving below the ground somewhere about a half mile away.
-
Ajax (with his currently 34 Cha -and 40 plus Diplomacy/Intimidate check, Celestial Radiance and Crown of Glory) bellows out “Hertopowlans, who commands here? Come forth in peace or suffer the penalty for accosting those that have done the Council’s will this day!â€

Sigh. Another loose end left untied.

Asinjin thinks to everyone, ~I am leaving, I can get a few away if you fly up with me now.~

The crowd, awed by Ajax's presence, shudders and many stop their push forward. There are immediate calls to ignore the light and press forward. No individual calls out a response to who commands.
-
Joseph turns to Marston, "I know this city and I can slip away into the crowd. I can get you away too, I think, but you need to decide now."

Is Ari with me? I mentioned a few posts earlier that I wouldn't let him hunt the vampire alone. Can he get us both out?
My sheriff senses are tingling, so I make a Sense Motive check on Joseph to make sure he's not leading me into a trap. +15 at my current level before leveling up.

Joseph appears to be legitimate in his offer. Ari is nearby. Joseph says, "No, his badger cannot be hidden."

Okay, if everything appears on the up and up to Marston, he'll go with Joseph.
My telepathic link should still be up, so I'll let everyone know we're going to sneak out of here.

Ari is postponing his pursuit of the vampire since it left the building.

If you had to guess at this point, there is a cleric of Everentual on the roof of a nearby building exhorting the crowd forward.
There is also a cleric or warrior of Han~Sui near the front of the line fighting with the lady knight.
-
At about this point more than a round has passed, and your telepathic link goes static.
-
A message is heard from Gales; shall I come a take the bodies of Jonathon and Ri away?
-

Ajax goes over and inserts himself between the cleric and the knight. I have permanent freedom of
movement so I just push my way through the crowd.
“No blood will be spilled this day. We are here on a holy mission, sanctioned by the councilâ€

The cleric and the knight are near the front so you don't have to push through the crowd.
The cleric demands, "Surrender yourself for trial!"
-
Joseph, seeing Ajax's action as a great distraction, moves into the crowd, leading Marston.
Gales uses that same moment to swoop in a great speed and grab the two bodies, taking them away.
Asinjin takes flight and by the end of the round exits the invisibility purge and disappears.
A moment later, a thick grey begins to engulf the area.
Everyone has one round of action before visibility is reduced to near zero.

“I will happily surender after I have banished whatever has possessed this unfortunate and misguided cleric. End your dimension barrier and let these others go. You have my word as the servant of Stasis’ light that I shall submit as soon as my task is accomplishedâ€

The battle continues, although ebbing because of first Ajax's presence and then the fog. The cleric pauses, and says, "Which cleric?" He is a human and dressed in the traditional breast plate, chain and leather armor of Han~Sui. He even has the now rarely seen shredder like helmet; katana and buckler.
-
Harrick will cast a Fly and move as high as I can get in that first round.

(The one on my shoulder) “This one!â€

Are the defenders moving to retreat, or are they entrenched?
Regardless, Navi gets as many in a Mass Fly as possible. Ari’s Fly is still active, so he makes his way up once the defenders are mobile. Astrek starts climbing to the roof.

Last I checked Harrick is unconscious on Ajax’s shoulder. (We stopped with me hurling him into Celestia before we got the sit rep)

About the time you start yelling you realize he is awake.

They were being forced back slowly until Ajax stalled the advance.
Everyone is within range. You are aware that Mass Fly requires they remain within 30 feet of you or the spell fails for them?
-
Solaris leaves with Gales. Unless Ajax wants him to stay. He asks Ajax via telepathy. "I think If I stay I will make the situation worse but I am willing to stay if you think you need me here."
-

“Sorry Harrick†(sword pommel to the temple or bolt of glory if necessary)

I was not aware of that. Looks like the restriction in the SPC is that recipients have to remain within 30 ft of at least one other recipient. So Navi doesn’t have to stay close for the defenders to benefit, but the defenders have to stay close relative to each other.
-

If you missed the earlier post, all of your telepathy has been nullified.

Yes, assuming Navi doesn't need to be a recipient.

She does not.

Solaris sticks with the original escape plan to leave with Gales.

So as the fog comes into play:
- Solaris, Gales, the two bodies are flying upward
- Asinjin flying upward
- Marston and Joseph blending into the crowd
- Navi Casting mass fly on the defenders
- Ajax talking to the cleric
- Harrick getting hit in the head
-
“Sorry Harrick†(sword pommel to the temple or bolt of glory if necessary)
Seeing that you cannot effectively use a bastard sword while grappling (and he is now obviously not a prone opponent), the bolt of gory seems the better choice.

Astrek is climbing. Navi also yells out a quick set of instructions to the defenders (“Hey, listen!â€). Ari holds his action to see if the defenders retreat.

You again blast Harrick with the bolt of glory, which he survives.

Harrick full withdraws straight up. As high as I can go.
"Owe.. What the Hey! For someone who claims to weld Status's light, you sure like betraying your Allies. If I was something nefarious.. as I imaging you are thinking in your religion fervor, Surely your spell would have destroyed me.. I have survived two of them! "
I still have greater invisibility, so I'm hoping I disappear soon as I leave the purge.

There are several you note, but none are high level of power.

Ari cannot see if the defenders are retreating.

The one week warning has long passed, so I will detail what happened next.
-
Solaris, Gails, and the bodies of Ri and Jonathon leave the area quickly and return to Pacyr directly. They make it there safely.
-
Ajax, Ari, the defenders all fly until Asinjin and the others can teleport away.
-
Joseph and Marston flee into the city, where for the next several days (unless Marston has some magical transport I am forgetting), you use all of your skills to evade capture and head north. Joseph thinks it would be wiser to head in the direction they are not searching.
-
Ajax goes with the authorities, who ask what is happening. They quickly realize they can't make him go anywhere he doesn't want.
-
Harrick finds himself invisible, alone, and flying over a hostile city.

The next epic adventure this summer will be the next step in efforts rid the world on the undead menace. It will pick up at least six months after this left off, and give xp where appropriate.
That's 60 times level for each character (Marston, Solaris, Ajax, Ari, Harrick)

We will start tonight with a briefing from the aftermath of the battle in Hertoplowis and then jump forward in time about six months.
