Experience:

Arkon, Cordaro, and Larissa - for surviving an assault meant for those hardier than you - 2100 (note that you all start at the minimum for your level)

Artemus - for getting short up and healing yourself - 1050

Finn - for an Avelanche that saved the day and for nearly getting shot to death - 2000

Harrick - for a timely shadow summons - 1500

Marston - for absorbing a lot of fire and not dying - 1700

Rathos - for eliminating two of the biggest threats and almost certainly preventing death - 3000

Finn recognizes that the large bird was a dire version of the Great Plateau Buzzard.  The dire version does not occur naturally.

Do you all take the time to wait for the bodies to uncover, or do you collect the one dead human that Rathos stabbed and go?

There is one dead horse.

Harrick, please don't re-animate that horse.

I suggest we grab the dead human and speak to dead once we're in Finn's grove.  We'll need to heal and re-organize before we head to the Underdark.

No more distractions.  We're here for a purpose, so let's stay the course.  We'll deal with our attempted assassins at a later time.

yea.. fine.. yeah.. i won't, because you have stayed true to yourself.. and deep inside it makes you a better you, and that's why Vestalion wants.  He wants you to be the best constable you can be in the life.  He smiles.

Harrick, I consider you a friend, but I want you to know there's always one round in the chamber I'm saving just for you.  So that you can be the best "actually dead" person you can be when the time comes.  I smile back.

"When the time comes for me to ascend, i'll be happy to let you be the one to help me become eternal." he hugs Marstan.  Feeling must bonier then before.

Cordero gives the odd half dead looking cleric ample room.

Less hugging and more vampire hunting.  You may be thinner, but you still smell like the dead.

During the 3-day journey Rathos talks to everyone and tries to get to know.  He tells stories of many adventures but he is also genuinely interested in hearing the stories of others.  Also mostly likely on the first day out he ask Marston about the mission and who took his wife.  How do you know where she is?  How do you know that she is alive and safe?  Also after the battle Rathos definitely talk about his portion of the fight and how they were no match for him.  It doesn't really sound like he is bragging or conceded but more like is excited and enjoyed the thrill and danger of the adventure and again he is also interested in hearing how it went for the other and that he is glad no one got seriously injured or killed.

One more distraction. I am not letting this go while I can still do something about some of these assassins.

Finn casts summon nature's ally 6 and sends a huge air elemental off after the charioteers.

What are the methods to make an animal artificially dire?

Finn casts summon nature's ally 4 to get the help of 1d4+1 (qty=4) small earth elementals to remove the deceased - they will need to be identified and buried properly.

Sometime before it reaches the charioteers, it is dismissed / dispelled / or similar.

Being a cleric of Habastly, you know that there are animal blessing rituals.

Do you take all of the bodies and remains (except the horse) to Finn's plantation?

Also, whick one are you going to cast speak with dead on and what questions are you planning on asking?

Does ritual = spell, or something else? Is it specific to any particular religion or cult? I must learn it!

All of them are coming back. Including the horse. They must be buried properly. Can't be done on someone else's property. I can bring the goblin crew out with carts to help transport.

No, it is not a spell.  Habastly sees it as a violation.

Who safely make it to the plantation with all of the bodies.  Think about who and what questions you are going to ask the dead.

Shortly after things settle down after the ambush, Rathos find Artemis and Marston.  He seems a little annoyed and angry.  "What in the nine hells is going on!   Why are we getting ambushed.  I had dishonorably take out a horse to keep everyone alive.  I...we deserve an answer."

One of our traveling companions is the victim of religious persecution.  A faction of Falan's crusaders went rogue and became extremist zealots against a new power that entered these lands.  Make no mistake; I'm no fan of the undead.  I hate them with everything I've got, which is one of the reasons we're even on this quest, but I didn't realize they were tracking our movements and would use this opportunity to assault us.  They may have magical means of tracking Harrick.

In any case, I apologize for the conflict we just faced, but keep in mind this was billed as a dangerous expedition and I am paying all parties more than generously for their efforts.

What does the undead have to do with this mission?  (Artemus answer's and explains Harrick's religion).  Artemus says "I don't agree with his religion but I will not kill him for his beliefs."  Rathos ask why do we need Harrick with us then.  (Artemus answers and says we need to travel through the new skull lord's lands or as Harrick would call him Vestillon (sp) and his lands).  Artemus turns to Marston and says I think we need to explain the true nature of the mission and what has happened to your wife.  We can not ask these men and women to risk their lives without know everything.

I believe I explained the nature of the expedition to those I hired.  I didn't reveal anything in the wanted posters for safety sake, but once alone, I let everyone know it was a rescue mission into the Underdark to save my wife.  I also told everyone there would be vampires and umberhulk and I laid out in detail the various techniques we would need to defeat them (silver, garlic, mirrors, etc.).

As far as Harrick is concerned, I consider him a friend and trusted ally, despite his newfound beliefs.  He came along by his own choice out of loyalty.  I thought we were hiding his presence thoroughly enough, but I suppose I was wrong.  He is also helping facilitate our safe passage though the Underdark by gaining permission to pass through to where my wife is unharmed.  It's getting out that may prove difficult.

Rathos, if you feel I haven't been forthright and you want out of the contract, then no hard feelings.  I'll pay you for time served up to this point, then you can go about your business.

I thought everyone knew, but if that's not the case, I'll brief everyone on the details in the safety of Finn's grove.  If anyone wishes to leave at that point, they are welcome to do so.
